Penny Dreadful - Part 1

I'm convinced that she will be. I can't think of any other show that has cast the same actor in two separate roles in consecutive seasons before. Watching Vanessa's reaction to seeing the Cut-Wife again will be very interesting.

Random thought: anyone else think it's strange that Vanessa will work with a female therapist? I mean, psychotherapy was still pretty new in the 1890s, so there weren't very many male doctors yet, much less female.

It has happened. but it is rare. I think Trek has done it a few times (though the actors are usually caked in make-up as aliens so not entirely the same) but there are some others too:

The Deadwood one surprised me. I watched that avidly but honestly didn't remember Dillahunt being in it twice.

I've been rewatching sliders and the brother had played a minor character in one of the worlds prior to being cast as Quinn's brother.

Gotta think there's a reason to use the same actress. As already suggested, a reincarnation or something like that.

Stargate Atlantis cast Jewel Straite in two roles.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine not only did it but it did it in the same season with the same actor playing two different characters in the same episode. Jeffrey Combs was Weyoun, Brunt (both in the episode, The Dogs of War) and a few other one-off characters throughout the run.

If I'm not mistaken Combs in Ds9 was playing a string of clones.

He played Weyoun's 4-8 (Vorta) over the course of several seasons but those were all the same character in addition to Brunt (a Ferengi), Tiron (unnamed race), Kevin Mulkahey (human), Penk (unknown race), Krem (Ferengi), and a holosuite guest in the series finale that had all the recurring and many cast members in the crowd.

Nicolas Lea who played Krycek on X Files. Was in season one. (as a victim of the monster of the week.) Before returning in season two as Krycek.

Look at how many times Terry O'Quinn appeared in the X-Files franchise...
let's not forget Peter Capaldi in Who...

Congrats to Queen Eva on her Golden Globe nomination for Best Lead Actress! Much deserved. :hrt:

I literally cheered this. She totally deserves it. :yay:

While Eva Green totally deserves accolades for her performance as Vanessa, I think that Billie Piper as Brona Croft (Ivy Frankenstein) gives an absolutely fantastic performance as Victor's creature gone to the dark side - and Rory Kinnear is also great as Caliban!

Got a question: Why didn't the bounty hunter of Ethan Chandler become a werewolf? He was bitten and survived.

I didnt like Billie Piper's portrayal of Brona in season 2 especially her diatribe against mankind and how they will bow and all that horse ****. I just couldn't buy into her character after she went all megalomaniacal.

I am with Marv on that one. Kinnear was pretty fantastic last season. But no one deserves it like Eva. I think back to my favorite scenes from last season, and the majority involve Vanessa and her various interactions with "her boys". Her time with Caliban and Frankenstein changed how I viewed the characters.
