People need to learn how to speak English in America.

Everyone should learn how to speak Toven.

Is that like speaking Skank, only with fewer vowels?

I always find it hilarious when I hear American southerners talking about World War II to Canadians, saying things like; "Daggummit, Ifin it weren't fer us all o' y'alls Canajuns would be speakin' in the German!"
Yeah, I can see how much you respect the English language, ********. :whatever:

I like big words that are censored.

How about monoligual advocacy enthusiast? Seriously, if you really think requiring anyone to learn any language upon entering any country to live will actually change anything at all or is even enforcable in any way, not to mention bureaucratically feasible, you are the naive one.

At any rate, what you are failing to recognize is that the American culture is a melding of MANY different cultures from all over the world. That's why the U.S. has been referred to as "The Great Melting Pot". There is no overarching culture in America, not nationally and especially not at a regional level. What I'm advocating is that people be allowed to make a CHOICE for THEMSELVES about what language they CHOOSE to learn and speak, no matter where they live. If that holds them back, that is their problem but thinking that putting forth a national requirement (and the expense behind doing so) that all people in America learn and speak English will make any difference whatsoever or change a thing is naive as hell. I think I'll go about respecting people's different cultures and choices to speak the language they would like to, but thanks for stopping by. Or perhaps I should say, muchas gracias para tu entrada equivocada.

Fine, I can agree with you on the undelined portion, but I simply add that no country be required to cater to them by changing the way they do things. I've come to this. I think that the most important aspect in the debate over English only in America is what not speaking English does to the individual and to society as a whole. Regardless of whether immigrants are forced to speak English or not, regardless of whether they choose to speak English or not is something to be decided by others. What is important is that by choosing not to learn English, immigrants are placing a burden upon themselves and this country.

What do you mean a burden? Lmao.

They want to remain poor--so let them be poor. Why are you trying to educate them? If they want to be rich, they'll learn English. This is the f**ked up White America, where people believe there's such thing as equality in this nation, lmao.

There is no such thing as equality in this f**ked up nation. There never was--and there never will be. :)

It's like any other nation.

LOL, my uncle knew a man who came from China, he first came through Mexicali and then went to the US, he opened a grocery store in his community and made a really good living, to where he later opened another store, he put all his kids through College and was by all accounts a "wealthy"man, who had a marginal knowledge of english, at best.

I don't condone it, I'm just making a point.

Here we go again. And why did a Chinese man open a grocery store in Chinatown? Because they were not allowed to in the gold mining industry, railroads, and agriculture--they were shunned from the white communites. They were not provided with any education except scorn and contempt. Go read Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay on Chinese Americans, and how he treats them, lmfao. F**king racist bigoted mother f**ker that deserves a lynching. Do you know what he said about the Chinese? Said they were worse than negros, and the only thing they can do is make tea.

This is a nation of unequality.

f they remain poor it puts a burden on you! Your tax dollars now go to help support them. If they learn the language and get a better education, they improve their social status, and you and I no longer have to support them. This allows our tax dollars to be spent on other things, like universal health care.

This nation has a history of unequality, that's true. But things have improved. The one thing that has remained consistant is that you will go as far as your motivation will take you. Do some have it easier, yes, do some have to wok harder, yes, but no matter who you are, nothing is handed to you. Unless perhaps you are born into wealth.
