Yeah, this notion of Parker looking ugly or whatever is a bit ludicrous. Even when Ditko was drawing spidey, I never got the impression that Peter was ugly. Hell, look at the way he drew Flash and everyone else for that matter, they all have the same distinct look to some extent.

The way I see it, before peter was bitten, he was a shy wimp with a lot of repressed anger. His looks were masked by his dorky clothes, glasses, subhuman strength and the fact that he was super intelligent.

Once bitten, he became more confident, could stand up for himself and had a swagger where his intelligence actually worked in his favour to some extent and this was all while he was still in high school. He had liz and betty on the verge of stalking him.

Peter is like the ugly duckling who became a swan really. He was always good looking, just the glasses that peopoe saw.

Peter Parker is a cute nerd.

Lerman is just plain cute without the nerd factor.

Cuteness or not, I´m more concerned with the fact that he´s the star of a movie based on a popular fantasy novel series, Percy Jackson. If the movie´s a hit, he´ll come to play Peter Parker with the baggage of being a household name already. I know RDJ is both Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes now, but I think Peter should come off as an average kid, the one you don´t look at twice, that you´d never think is a superhero, and that´s gonna be hard to pull if he´s played by someone who´s already a movie star.

The more I see of Percy Jackson, the more I doubt it'll actually be successful.

I'm willing to bet it'll end up like most films that tried to follow in Harry Potter's footsteps or, even worse, like how most of Fox's fantasy adaptations turn out.

I dont think the characters in the movie will find out he's Spider-Man or Percy Jackson.:awesome:

Look at Sly Stallone. He pulled of Rocky and Rambo,he was never called one character.

"The guy who plays Rocky Balboa is playing John Rambo".

That never happened with Sly,he pulled of 2 successful franchises.

Logan can be both Percy and Spider-Man.

YEah you can pull off 2 franchises, its entirely possible

The only problem for the actor is that they'll have to potentially drop out of other smaller projects

So many articles posting the news of this and a lot of talkback with people pro Logan Lerman, especially stating he just looks like the younger Peter Parker they had envisioned.

Are you listening Sony?

Yeah, but then again Sly pretty much created those characters, they didn´t have a life before that, in Spidey´s case he´s bigger than the actor playing him should be.

Plus his paycheck should increase a lot if Percy Jackson´s a hit, and that´s not good for budget. Sony´s trying to cut costs, among other things, with the reboot.

I really doubt the kid who played Percy Jackson will become bigger then Spider-Man. Especially since I very much doubt Percy Jackson will be a smash hit if its even successful at all.

I think Logan would accept what Sony would offer him.

Being Spider-Man would make him soar through the roof and he definitely seems he would love the role.

I didn´t mean he´ll become bigger than Spider-Man, but big enough that the audience may see him as a star, not as the underdog Peter should be. I dunno how successful Percy Jackson will be, but the book series is quite popular.

A lot of popular book series have ended up with a disappointing reception for the film adaptation. Especially popular book series that have been adapted by Fox, like Percy Jackson is.

a post-2000 Fox movie not directed by James Cameron? oh yeah.....it will fail. don't quote me on that though...

Thats why you dress him up in nerdy clothes. I highly doubt they're going to go out looking for an actor who dresses like a nerd.

Yeah, it's not that hard to make someone un-nerdy look nerdy. Give him huge glasses, comb his hair back, etc.

Peter Parker was a cute nerd.

Seriously, after being Spider-man when did Peter ever have time to be nerdy or to express that part of him?

Spider-man overtook his life and he became a man of action. Every day his life was on the front lines of battle and it he became hardened and was twisted beyond the psychological breaking point that most people can stand.

He could have pursued a nerdy career if had not became obsessed with burden of responsibility...could have focued more on his studies and became a scientist. But that path was gone. When did MJ ever call Peter "oh your such a nerd", except for in the movie? The comics never had Peter acting nerdy like the movies did. The only times Peter really showed his smart side was in coming up with ways to enhance his ability to win in battle.

Peter still expressed his nerdy side in the books. He became a science teacher for crying out loud.

Clothes can only do so much. You put Triple H or Brad Pitt is nerdy clothes and it will look like a Halloween costume some stud is wearing ironically.

Parker needs a face that suggests nerdiness without glasses or a dorky hairstyle. Because Parker doesn't dress dorky and his nerdy behavior is limited he needs a face that comes across as nerdy to some extent.

He's basically become somewhat of a snarky, awkward guy who has that "oh, he's so cute" vibe that chicks seem to like. Per Michael Cera. Who I do NOT want for the role.

I haven't seen much from this kid. All I really know is that he played in Jack & Bobby, never watched that show. That and Gamer, and while that movie was somewhat disappointing, I'd have to say that he was definitely a part of the positive aspect.

Seems a little young but then again there's nothing wrong with that, gives us the opportunity to see him grow from Spider-Boy to Spider-Man, of which I'm glad they've decided to take a lot slower pace this time around.

Personally a Spider-Man t.v. show along the lines of Smallville would in my opinion be a better move. More time for the audience to connect with the characters. That's the problem Superhero movies. It's really hard to translate stories designed in a serial format into 2 hrs.

Movies> TV Shows
A TV show of spiderman would be horrible since they'll try to appeal to teeny boppers of this world
