The Amazing Spider-Man Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman in Early Talks for Spider-Man

Could everyone stop suggesting Emma Stone as Mary Jane. MJ is supposed to be a bombshell. Emma Stone is not a hot girl. She's not unattractive, but she is fairly average and normal....not MJ.

Yes. Yes. Dunst was also not attractive enough to be MJ. MJ is supposed to be Megan Fox caliber hot.

But see, here's the thing: MJ is supposed to be hot/beautiful, not porn star-trashy. So the Megan Fox analogy is a pretty terrible one.

Also, it really seems like they are going for an Ultimate Spider-Man style cast/film this time around, so wouldn't it make more sense to be casting for a 15/16/17 year old Ultimate MJ as opposed to "OMG TEH HAWTEST THING U EVER SAWED!!1!"

Ultimate MJ is still very much a fox (NO, not Megan Fox), but she can be drop dead gorgeous without looking like the generic hollywood plastic princess. She needs to have some physical personality. MJ needs to be hot through a mix of good looks and being a fun loving person.

I personally think Emma Stone would make a GREAT MJ for this film. She may not be other people's cup of tea though for whatever reason. But people who are dismissing her because she isn't a slighty younger Megan Fox are being downright silly.

The biggest sticking point for me woud be that when you see 2 female characters on screen, like perhaps Gwen and MJ, you can tell the difference between the different types of beauty they represent (there's probably a better way to say that). Gwen is girl next door cuteness. If you were gonna find a high level adjective to describe her, you'd go for beautiful before you said hot. MJ is leaning more toward hot, but alot of that should come from the outgoing confidence she exudes when she's on screen, where as I imagine Gwen, while not a shut in, would be slightly more reserved. Gwen would be "I'd love to, but my parents said I couldn't" while MJ would be like "Let's just do it! No one has to find out".

My only exposure to the character of Liz is through a few comics, but mostly The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, so 616 fanboys pardon my example, but if we were to get the SSM version of Liz, I'd say she would far more appropriately be portrayed as the generic hollywood Megan Fox "Hot girl". Again, that's just my analysis of the character we see on the animated show.

MJ's got looks, but she's got depth. Obviously alot of that has to do with the writing, but with film being a visual medium, you should be able to look at her and know she's got more going for her than what's under her shirt and on her face.

All those who hate Emma Stone for whatever reason...please tell us your better suggestions.

Let me be the first one to tell everyone this, so you all don't set yourselves up for disappointment, because you will be disappointed.

They are not going try and find a Mary Jane who looks the comic book version, not only because that's impossible given so many versions of her. But, because trying to find a hot porcelain Barbie doll type woman (or girl in the rebooted movie's case) who can act and be this overly hot fantasy girl, for horny Spider-Man fans to m:ST:sturbate over when they buy the DVD, simply isn't going to happen.

As you see in this very thread, people have different ideas of what beauty is, one think this one is hot, one thinks one is average. And so and so on.

This is also the case for Peter Parker, somewhat, there's too many version of Peter in the comic books to really pin point what he should look like, there's over 20 various versions of Peter in the comics. Some like this look and some like that look. Again, so on and so on.

Sure, it's possible to have both, good actress and incredibly hot chick playing MJ, it's just rare that that's going to happen, when the choices are so far and between, especially with Young Hollywood's talentless ass (I'm talking to you Megan Fox and Jessica Alba) and searching for relatively unknowns.

I agree, CAST HIM SONY, and finally get something RIGHT!

I love how everyone could care less about Percy Jackson when they interview this kid, you know people want to know about Spider-Man!

Let's see...Percy Jackson...or...Spider-Man...hmm...which should we talk about. :hehe:

After seeing some more of this Logan Lerman guy, I have to admit that I can see him as Spider-Man now. And I'm starting to think that he's maybe the best, known option too.

something is DEFINATELY up there. he completely calms up. if there was nothing to say he would just say their is nothing to say.
I think what happened is, lerman and sony are in talks, lerman opens his mouth which was a little silly so he got a slap on the wrist by sony and his agent.

also if you look at sony 'debunk' they specifically no 'business' talks have taken place rather then plain out saying there has been no contact.
c'mon sony cast him already. for ONCE I want my first choice to be picked.

Logan is definitely a great choice. Even Sony can see it.

also sony have got to move THIS WEEK, if PJ opens big this coming weekend (which, let's face it is possible) fox will tie him down immediately.

Yes, a factor that we love...NOW CAST HIM SONY. You've got TWO DAYS to announce this...I will allow you no more time than that!

Is that what he said, a rep contacted him?

basically the interviewer asked who contacted whom and lerman specifially said they got in contact with HIM, which to be honest was a little stupid as now all the negoatiating power is with lerman's camp that's why sony immedialtely played down the talks but if you read between the lines they (sony) at no time say they DIDN'T talk with lerman.

now you can see the marked difference with lerman answering questions about spidey, he says nothing this time round when before he couldn't shut up about it.

Well with Sony going more Ultimate Spidey route, Lerman looks like a good choice, i'm going have to watch Percy Jackson or 3:10 to see his acting.

PJ opens this weekend and still no news of lerman signing for SM. if PJ opens big I think we can forget logan lerman being the next spider-man.

If Percy opens big, that means nothing. Zoe Saldana has Star Trek, Avatar, and potentially Losers.

A movie star can do two big franchises at the same time.

Percey Jackson is getting lackluster reviews and no one seems to be impressed by Lerman's performance.

I really hope he doesn't get Spider-man. We don't need another charisma vacuum playing Spider-man.

I watch PJ this weekend so this will be the first movie I've seen him in where he is the star.

Logan's been good in other things though. Even good actors have bad performances. Practically everyone in Batman and Robin is a good actor/actress, but they were all terrible in that.
