The Amazing Spider-Man Percy Jackson's Logan Lerman in Early Talks for Spider-Man

Lerman is bland a boring. A safety choice if there ever was one.

Let us hope that the script itself isn't bland and boring, because if it is, like the previous film's Peter/Spidey, it won't matter who they cast.

He looks more alive than Tobey ever did.

I hate that Tobey is the bar to clear. He's not a bad actor, but he specializes in quiet, creepy characters who can explode when need be, but otherwise have no distinct personality. That's not Spider-Man.

What I don't like about Lerman is that he is a safe choice, in that, he's someone who's carried a film before, for better or worse, and that inspires some confidence in Hollywood. It's not a bad choice, but it's not a good one. Uninspired.

it annoys me when people go on about toby's lack of range like it's a fact, that's not a fact that's an opinion as I thought his performance especially in SM2 was excellent but then that's my opinion not a fact either.

I think a lot of it has to do with the script. Look, if the script doesn't portray Peter/Spidey as an upbeat, talkative, witty/humorous, highly intelligent, nerd who becomes confident, sociable, charming and a scientifically creative individual--then you're not going to get that from Tobey Maguire or Logan Lerman or any actor. They can only do what the script and director ask of them.

True but what I found damaging was, that Raimi had the characters written and crafted to the strengths of the actors as opposed to doing it the conventional way, actors being required to, well act out the way their characters are being written. Spider-Man has a colourful persona and that's the way the character should be portrayed, it shouldn't even be debatable.

Indeed, I agree with you. It's called research, that no one did when it came to Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Writers, producers, director and actors, just phoned in their performance giving us characters that are nothing like the comics.

Percy Jackson should open to a pretty solid $40-$45 million. That will pretty much stick a fork in Lerman's shot at being Spider-Man.

lerman (along with everyone else) is absolutely terrible in PJ.
I'm not going to hold it against him as like I said EVERYONE is terrible including bean and brosnan who can act.

Why would you say that, not that there isn't other actors, just curious?

Because Fox has a new franchise now and will want to get going on a sequel ASAP. It's opening was a lot bigger than most box-office analysts projected.

Just came back from seeing Percy Jackson and I have to say that, I have no idea as to what people were expecting from Lerman actingwise but his performance was solid enough to pull of Parker/Spidey. Additionally, there was nothing bland nor boring about his performance either. With the way he went at his mother's partner and the bald insults, I could so picture Lerman quipping away at Vulture or whoever, either way it assured me he has the charisma to pull of the spidey persona with ease.

That being said, I think the script overall was a tad weak which is why the performances overall by all the actors were kind of mediocre at best.

I haven´t seen it yet, but that result bodes well for his intentions of playing Peter Parker/Spidey. The movie opened above experts´ projections, but still is not such a blockbuster that he´d become too expensive for the franchise. Schedules can always be rearranged, RDJ gets to be both Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes, Bale got to be Batman and John Connor (it´s unlikely he´ll be in more than one, but the studio would have found a way to make it work).

31M, not bad. But it really doesn't matter. Tobey wasn't bringing in big bucks with any of his films when he was cast, not saying Lerman is gonna get cast, just saying.

Tobey wasn't the main star of a special effects action movie like Percy Jackson.

Lerman was.

Are you saying what was said above that he may be attached to multiple films?

From what I've read, people are saying Lerman's performance is a high point.

There are those who liked this movie alot, and then those who hated it, mostly from fans of the book. I have not even heard of the book before this movie cameabout, so I might just enjoy it.

Also, just by some of the scenes on the internet, I can tell Lerman can act!

I think we need to cool our heels, and let's see what comes of it. I'm sure Sony has a nice size list, that I would love to see.
