Well I wouldn't say that they're weak. It's just somewhat unprecedented that nobody's pokemon has evolved as of yet and that Serena has gone on for this long without having been given a specific occupation to strive towards, let alone capture any pokemon.

Plus, given on how the series really missed the boat with incorporating the best stuff from the team plasma arc in the videogames to the anime, I'm afraid that they'll mess up again here.

I still enjoy this show. I like that Serena hasn't been given a goal, it allows her to act more naturally without having to worry about episodes dedicated to her being one thing or another. Yes she only has one Pokémon, but if you think about it, we didn't know Iris had any other Pokémon but Axew for a while.

So none have evolved yet, that's fine. It's still early, and that goes double for Team Flare! Let them come when they're ready.

I just started watching the Unova series. It's been a long time since I left off at the end of Sinnoh, and I watched the last episode back before beginning. Iris and Cilan are okay enough, but I did enjoy Dawn a lot iirc. I dunno what the consensus is on this amongst people who watch regularly but I'd take Brock as a travelling companion for the rest of eternity. I don't need new and exciting cos Brock is the guy.

I think 17, don't hold me to it though. And many episodes were dedicated to the setup.

Iris was a "Dragon trainer" from the beginning, she knew what she wanted to be, and we knew it too. With Serena we have more options, and there's the fact that she likes Ash. That helps too!

Have faith, it'll come together.

Anyone what was up with today's episode? Mainly that it was a "Mega-Evolution Special"? Felt out of place for me.
