Prometheus - Part 6

Yeah, the tech issues with the star wars prequels was an issue for me, but for some reason, its not here. We don't know how much time is inbetween this and alien. Not only that, but look at the gap in technology in reality: the technology of an old fishing vessel is not going to be on par with the technology of a luxury cruise ship and yet they share the same sea and harbor.

Makes perfect sense here, along with SW...

When the republic ran things, the arts were strong. Therefor technology was always better. Once the Empire ran things, as purely governemental, the arts (design/technology/etc) all were squandered to war. Case in point, the Greeks, Romans, and Germans...

OK, I'm starting to get a little jumpy that reviews for this thing aren't out yet. I'm going to the midnight screening on Thursday night and dragged my friends along for the ride too, so I really hope this film delivers otherwise I'm going to end up with a big rotten egg on my face. :cmad: :csad:
I think they are holding back reviews more because they don't want spoilers to leak.

Prometheus seems a mystery based movie and Ridley has said there are some shock horror moments like Kanes chestbuster scene. They don't want that stuff leaking out before the movies released.

I want them to withhold major spoilers, but I'd also like to at least know if the movie is good.

before anyone kills me im not comparing the theme or movie in general to promethius.

but...i watched Event Horizon last night. and the suits and overall design of the movie reminded me of the promethius trailer.

the helmets, the darkness, the radars.

I think it's safe to say we already know what that scene is. :cwink: It'd be strange for them to be weary of spoilers being leaked given the amount of the film they've already spoiled with the gazillion different trailers.

I don't think it's the scene you're thinking of. Then again, I think that's when **** hits the fan.

I'd be confident that it is as I think RS said that this scene only involved Rapace iirc.

Arts and technology are two completely different things in terms of how they're treated in war. During war, art certainly takes a back seat, but technology is always improved during times of war. I think the issue that I have with the technology issue in the prequels has a lot to do with the design language the artists used - if they had remained true to the originals, I think I wouldn't have any issue; ie: the Falcon, and other older ships in the Originals etc are theoretically "new" during the prequels, yet look NOTHING like any of the ships therein. Where as with Prometheus - the artists still make the design motifs coincide with what we've seen in Alien.

I think that's the scene.

I mean, it does seem like some CRAZY stuff happens upon first contact with whatever it is that attacks them, but I think it's the Rapace scene.

I keep thinking back to the gif of that woman standing in complete terror and I get chills every time.

Yeah, that's their first meeting with it, if I remember correctly.

I'm starting to get nervous about the film now. I've got this "I've got a bad feeling about this" thought running through my head.

I really hope this doesn't disappoint.

I honestly couldn't care what any of the critics think now days.

If I think it's good, I'll like it. If not, I won't. It's that simple.

Yeah that's fair enough but this is happens to be my most anticipated film and a prequel to one of my favourite films of all time :p as it is to a lot of people. There's just some odd feeling creeping on some people, including me, that there is the horrible chance of utter disappointment.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen NOTHING bad at all in the promotional clips we've received. I had a trailer for it in MIB 3 yesterday and I was getting excited in my seat.

I'm a huge fan of the Alien franchise/mythos, and I'm not worried at all.

A perfect cast being lead by a perfect director and two incredibly talented writers.

He's hardly a perfect director but he's an amazing one regardless.

Maybe this is some sort of pre-film jitters thing I've got :p

I've just been saying that in a Spidey thread. I'm selfish. You can all hate it for all I care :yay:

I didn't like Blade Runner that much, to be honest.

and I don't know what G.I Jane is. ;)

You have to watch Blade Runner again. Give it another chance.

G.I. Jane is a rather crappy film that Ridley made starring Demi Moore.
