Yes, because that word didn't lose its effect on the internet a long while ago. Also its meaning. :oldrazz:

Well, all I can say is that I really enjoyed it. There are some questions which I've gotten an answer to now, but some others not yet. But that will definitely be for the sequel(s).

critique-film:
Prometheus is a great film. However it shows a bit disappointing since we were expecting something amazing and innovative. In reality it is a true prequel to Alien, ultra referenced and obedient to a very precise specifications, ranging from the metaphysical concepts to pure horror, while ensuring the fan service. Aside from this disappointment, we can say that Prometheus is a bomb.

Do they mean the bomb? Maybe a blast?
Probably just lost in translation, because it sounded pretty postitive.

Calling a movie a bomb is usually a negative connotation. But that doesn't make sense with what came before it.

Better or worse than Sunshine (which I really enjoyed)? I'm tired of underwhelming films, and Avengers was just that.

Are they French? Cause saying that sthg is "a bomb" in French actually means it's effing awesome.

I have a couple questions if someone who's seen it doesn't mind.

At some point it looked like it, but judging by what happens in the end I'd say no on both counts.

Spoilers :
The chestbuster that kills the space jockey does so in the Prometheus ship, not while he's piloting his own starship. And he just lays there with a massive dead creature on top of him. I don't see why his corpse would have ended up in his ship afterwards

Damn, guess I'm gonna have to drop my expectations for the story and philosophical questions. :csad::csad::csad:

I'm excited for the flick as an Alien fan, but I'm not gonna cry over it if it doesn't turn out to be sliced bread good.

What kind of deep story were people expecting? Its an Alien film not arthouse. I'm sure it will have an adequate story living up to the standards set by the original.

It seemed to be a deep movie, with lots of phylosophical questions and interpretations, and apparently it just scratches the surface of what it could have been in that regard.

It may be an Alien film, but that doesnt stop it from being deep, and i think many of us were expecting that.

Either way, I'm still excited, not as much as before, but will be there the opening day.

Idk I guess I just didn't have that reaction. I mean yeah it includes engineers who seeded earth but that isn't a particularly deep idea. Least not anymore. History channel has ran that concept into the ground. The rest of the film looked like your typical Alien film. Sexual metaphors, uncomfortable body horror, death, fear etc. That's really all I wanted out of this film. I of course want a good script but it doesn't have to be deep to accomplish that. I could be wrong but deep doesn't seem like Ridley's forte or least not something he strenuously aims for. Based on his previous work it may not have been a good idea to expect deep or philosophical. He hasn't done a film like that since blade runner and that was a film that took multiple viewings to really see how deep it was so perhaps this film is the same way. I think we will be pleased.

I think people were expecting too much from DL... I never really got into lost but I'm thinking Promotheus may have been a bit above his pay grade.. for now at least.

The Variety review read mostly positive to me .

RT has listed positive reviews as negative before. Someone may want to contact them to make sure it isn't a mistake.

Pretty much what I thought it was going to be based on the previews and leaked tidbits. Lame.

I've been excited about Prometheus since I first heard about it. I think it looks great, but I'm not worried if it doesn't meet my expectations. I know I'll enjoy it either way. Can't wait, hurry up June 8th!

Man, all the reviews in Europe are saying the same thing about this movie. The hype and my expectations are slowly declining.

Since when did everyone become such pessimists. I know I was saying something would go wrong but a few early reviews and people are in full retreat. I thought we were made of tougher stuff than this.

Here we go again with this. Something we feel is fanboy lore and bulletproof gets some mediocre reviews and people fall apart. Just go watch and enjoy the damn movie.
