Prometheus - Part 8

You're right, but the Jockey from "Alien" is also entirely physiologically different to the Engineers.

I just really hope that Ridley and co thought all this stuff out, rather than just hoping that no one would remember "Alien" that well.

I know and agree. Although I think the answer will be as you fear. Sloppy.

I think Ridley will just appear at the end of Paradise and say "it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself" then it will abruptly cut to black with no explanation :)

In the holograms and looking at the drifts of bodies, you can see they are wearing the space suits, yet you will notice the suit pictured above from Prometheus has the suit as part of the chair, and the jockeys will sit into it and the helmet will come down. So there seems to be two different suits. Just something I noticed.
i thought that the chair had the same suit like the empty ones behind Shaw. so that when an engineer needs a suit very fast he just sits in the chair.i think it was done so that they have a cool scene. it looked great.

but it doesnt make sense IMO

is there a wiki page where its explained that real sets and props are cheaper compared to CGI? i am reading this every month on SHH.
filming on real ocations is expensive. building big sets like in prometheus are insane expensive. and Ridley Scott telling all the CGI artists to not use special trackers on the blue suits and on the practical engineer made it cheaper right? no it did not. it took them weeks to convince him to use red balls when filming outisde . because its har to track this kind of sand.
and everything in 3D.

prometheus is an insane expensive movie.

I work in the computer animation field. CGI is FAR more expensive.

To be fair, it depends who is doing the CGI. If it's WETA or ILM then it will definately cost more than models but it it is someone like tippet studios then I think the cost are significantly cheaper (obviously you get what you pay for though and the chances are the CG will look shoddy).

I hope the movie manages to make enough for the proposed sequel to get made, the movie is only at $88 million domestic at the moment and it cost over $100 million to make.

It would be VERY frustrating if we never got to see the sequel to this, even though I did love this movie.

Doing my bit for the sequel. Went to see it a third time last night.

Still not getting old, definitely deserves an 8/10... But now I'll wait for the Blu Ray and -hopefully- its longer cut.

Can someone explain why it would prevent ATMOM from being made? Unless it's really, really spoilery.

del Toro said that he thinks its to similar for him to do it.

Yes, I read that, I remember reading that specially the ending was too similar. I havent read the book, that's why I'm asking :oldrazz:

Is it really that similar?

Try the wiki page. It does sound rather similar.
I haven't read the book but from script reviews etc. , GDT has greatly expanded the storyline of the book.

You mean if Pacific Rim flops right ;) .

Not like Evangelion was on the fast track or anything. Which is probably for the better.
If it becomes a success, a Godzilla or Evangelion movie will look too similar concepts

Well, it sounds similar, but not to a point where it would prevent ATMOM from happening.
I really hope GDT does it eventually, I'd love to see what he can do with one of his passion projects.

BTW, has anything else surfaced from the last viral page? If I recall correctly NY ComicCon starts on 10-11-2012. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, had to get out of this thread until i could see the movie.

The story line from Prometheus has a little to do with ATMOM, but I think that he referred to the sthetic aspects. My hopes are that this movie gives green light to Del Toro's adaptation to the book, I've been waiting for it since forever, it's time for Lovecraft to make it into the big screen

I'm relly curious about the creators' home planet and what it looks like.
Hopefully, one of them will speak. Not all of them should appear to be mute, and go crazy and fight any visitor from Tellus.

I saw Prometheus for a third time a few days ago.

A shocking revelation for me is when in the beginning, you see what appears to be a planet, but when I really looked like it, it actually looked like an egg. Like an egg floating in space, very similar to the "Alien" egg.

Has this one been posted before? I thought it would only be th elder engineer and the "sacrificed" one, but it looks like there's almost 10 of them in there.

Sorry if this was posted before, like I said, I stayed away from this thread for 2 weeks or more.

I can't decide whether it was the script or the editing room that ruined this movie.

holly s.... this changes everything. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Scott . you and your stupid director cut's. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :cmad:

movies about mystery dont have a plot that is a mistery to people who watched it.

the caps are a joke since he is talking like hulk.

Lost and Prometheus is the same for me, if I like the characters and themes (and I did) then I don't need answers. For the record I was absolutely satisfied with the way Lost ended.

its not about answers. its about the question and then exploring that question with the story and characters.

just asking the question is not enough. and its in no way deep IMO

it was an ending that literally every tv show, every movie, every story on this planet in the whole history could have. its zero. Cuse and Lindelof deserved to be punched in the face.
