I think I heard on the news Crowes doing a speech on acting at some university in England so he probably popped by to see his buddy Ridley while he was there.

what was posted that got such a great reaction?

Inside the red square looks like the Jockey set from Alien, seen here:

I think the tunnel entrance with the hieroglyphics might be the archaeological site they find on Earth. It looks man made and completely different to the Gigerness of the rest of the set.

I got my Alien Blu-Ray Anthology in the mail today and seeing the set along with those set pics today gets me all creeped out.

Friggin Alvin and the chipmunks ruin the awesomeness of the Prometheus poster. :oldrazz:

Ya less is more with this one. Man I hope we get a teaser soon. I hope Fox markets this well. Awesome. Just awesome.

I really hope the marketing of this film mirrors Alien's exactly. The posters look awfully similar save the giant egg, which is a good start.

I want some things the same, but make some things different. However I want the one trailer I posted above to be done very similar, same sound effects and music!!!

Now the question I thought of today while listening to my 2 CD set of the Alien soundtrack....I wonder who he will get to do the score in this?

I really wanna re-watch Alien right now but I know if I do I'll be freaking out and I REALLY don't wanna risk the good chance of nightmares of facehuggers and disgusting alien designs in the hallway in my home.:waa:

I think the marketing should remind of us of the first film in a way, and it makes sense, given how this is connected to the first film. But it should be its own thing as well. I don't want it to be an exact copy.

I agree to a point, that it should try to make the marketing something of its own. But still I think going back to the roots of Alien and its magnificent trailer they need to mirror some of that. Well I take that back they don't need to, it won't hinder my enjoyment of the film nor the trailers. But it would be great, because that was some of the best marketing.

And the worry of people feeling like it is not something new remember that Alien's marketing is 32 years old, most were not even born, or do not remember the marketing. So I don't think that would be a problem if they did copy some of it. Which I hope they do, but I wonder if they really will or not.

We don't know how different this film could be though. I do agree it should remind us in a way, just giving that same vibe that Alien did, but this is a different film. If the trailer was anything like the first trailer to Alien, who knows how that would go over. I don't want it to seem as some desparate copy. Because it could easily feel like that. Like it's trying too hard to feel like Alien.

But it's true most wouldn't remember it. I would be refreshing to see it be more enigmatic and frightening in the vein of the first film, but not exact. That would be a great thing. It depends on the direction of the film. Even if it feels like the first film, if it is similar to the trailers to Alien, it should still feel like its own thing. That it belongs in the same world, yet is frightening or whatever it is in its own way. Because this is very easy to **** up.

I don't mean exact, I want it to feel like Alien, but yes its fine to be something else as well.

However, kinda on/off topic to what we have been discussing, this clearly is an Alien film. I mean all the actors flat out said it, Ridley said it takes place in the same world, the set reports of Alien's on set, from the set photos its clear that the Space Jockey is involved. So this is Alien, just they may not be the primary focus this time. It reminds me of The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings. In The Hobbit the ring was not really the focus of any attention, it was a small part to the story, but set in the same world as LOTR. Then in LOTR the ring became the focus of the story, but still set in the same world.

With Alien the Space Jockey was a small part of the story, with Prometheus it seems that they will be a big part of it (Ridley has said for years he wanted this) now the small part of the story becomes a big part in the same universe. So to me this is still Alien no matter what way the slice it, it may feel very unique and new, but the veins of Alien are still at its core it would seem. Especially how almost all the actors were like ya its a Alien film. Then later they toned it down after Ridley yelled at them I'm sure lol.

I see why they do this though, Alien has a beyond tarnished name, it is in the same area Batman was after B&R. So maybe doing it this way will restore the faith of the great Alien universe Ridley created and Cameron successfully expanded.

Absolutely agreed yeah. This is definitely an Alien film. And I think the direction of it is pretty much the best approach. It's a story of its own, yet feels Alien and takes place in the same universe. And the telling of the Space Jockey is just enough to make it something its own.

Neville Page: "You have to do something that's better than HR Giger"

Then you mature and ask what are the tasks at hand, and he said: 'You've got a tall order here because you have to do something that's better than Giger'
Now you're scaring me, because I just don't know if that can be done.

I drew my heart out and created the best I could and Ridley liked it. If Ridley is good with it, then you've done your job"

Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' Creature Designer: 'It's Such An Undertaking'

"My approach is nervous," he said with a smile. "I approach Ridley with great nervous energy because it is such an undertaking. ['Alien'] was the movie that inspired everything for me, not just creature design, but filmmaking in general," he admitted. "It is a huge undertaking to try and take it to the next level; to make Ridley proud, to make [H.R.] Giger proud, there's a lot involved with that."

What about the amount of practical effects, which were largely relied upon and highly successful in the original "Alien," vs. the amound of CG effects he and Scott plan to use?

"I don't know, I can only asume that it's going to be like with ['Green Lantern']," said Page, who worked his magic with creature design on Hal Jordan and CO. "[We'll] use whatever it takes to make it look as good as it needs to look."

Will "Prometheus" be all CG or half-and-half?
A new actress has joined the cast of Prometheus, and her name is Lucy Hutchinson. Little is known about her role in the movie, but according to IMDb she will be playing a young version of Elizabeth Shaw, Noomi Rapace’s character.

i like the dirty rusty look. i am afraid that they will use the forced saturated blue and green color.

i hope they will use more natural lighting.

Prometheus at Comic-Con 2011?

It looks like July 21st-24th are dates to put down in our diaries, as according to Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter Prometheus will be presented at this years Comic-Con in San Diego.
Kit tweeted today:
Ridley Scott's Prometheus movie will get a Hall H presentation at CC. As will Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. But which actors will be there?
