I know the Blu-rays in general are much better,I just meant that since the Alien Anthology dvd had them re-mastered or whatever.....I just assumed it looks almost the same on Blu-ray,But it's sounding great and I will have to get them soon as well as other films I've been wanting on there!
It does not look the same. It looks perfect.

Well first Aliens had no re-master done with the Anthology on DVD, it looked pretty bad.

But all of them have been re-done and watching Alien and Aliens on blu was like seeing it again for the first time. Aliens had a complete massive overhaul and looks so much better.

dont be angry at me that i was right about terminator. Salvation sequel is not happening.

my post has nothing to do with your avatar.

I've heard that the blurays makes the films look brand new..

They do look new. Aliens really amazed me, it was like I had never seen the visual aspects of the film before. Very good.

I got the Blu-rays for Christmas. I stroke them nightly. Alien is brilliant, but Aliens in the one that stunned me. Absolutely amazing. Cameron blue, crystal clear beauty. Just like Blade Runner, the Blu-rays make the film look a year old.

The Aliens blu-ray finally gets rid of the pink hue that plagued the DVD releases of the film

I swear I always remembered the film being very heavily blue, much like Terminator 2, but the DVD always had this terrible pink hue to a lot of the scenes

Yeah considering how weak the DVD transfer was and then look at the Blu Ray transfer it's light years difference. I will say this about Cameron, his films look like new releases on Blu Ray. Can't wait for True Lies and anamorphic Abyss.

He's only been involved in the blu-ray masters for Aliens and Avatar. Terminator and T2 are still old masters. Terminator was undergoing a new remaster, but it was put on hold due to issues with MGM at the time.

Worth noting is that Ridley personally oversaw both the DVD and BLu-Ray remaster of Alien

Well Alien looked amazing on DVD to begin with, so I can buy that.

So you're saying Cameron had no say on the T2 Skynet Edition? That has to be one of the best Blu Rays to have hit the market. I'm genuinely amazed. Because Avatar, T2 and Aliens have to be, probably the three best transfers I've seen on Blu Ray.

If thats it, im pleased. I really love that. Giger is all over that thing. The nose is a little off...but still. Its great.

ordered Alien on blu-ray...Will get Aliens at a later date (great film, just not a must own like Alien for me)

Rumour: new sequel(s) with Ripley on the cards?

Noticed this on the moviehole website:

Clint,
You keep saying this “Alien” prequel is still an “Alien” prequel – of some sort. What do you mean?
Mare

Mare,
Look, it’s guesswork but everything we’ve heard up till this point – even from the actors in the film – suggest it’s still very much a prequel to the original film. Damon Lindelof was hired to rewrite an “Alien” prequel and ultimately handed in a film that didn’t much resemble one. So does this mean there’s no nods or references in the script to anything from Ridley’s 1979 film? Not at all; In fact, many have said they’ve already seen concept designs and sets being built that look awfully familiar. So why the change of title, press release (to say “it’s no longer Alien”) and misinformation campaign? I’d say it’s got a lot to do with “Alien 3″ – despite the title, it wasn’t an “Alien” movie and audiences responded accordingly. I’m guessing “Prometheus” is going to be littered with links to the first “Alien” but, like Fincher’s artysy convict caper, it’s also going to be so tonally different and be much more of a character piece than “Alien” (or “Aliens”) fans would like. Fox don’t want to make the same mistake again. Maybe once the early reviews start coming out, and if they’re favourable, Rothman might advise the marketing department to add “Alien” into the title, i.e “Alien : Prometheus”. Again, just a guess. Even if that guess is wrong, the “Alien” series will continue – in another form. I don’t know much, but I’ve heard whispers that sequels (to the original quadrilogy – Ripley’s story) might be back on the cards; the whole ‘Alien Planet’ idea is still very much something everyone over at Fox and Scott Free are interested in. You ain’t see the last of Facehugger.

That is interesting. If Ridley was involved I'd be okay with an Alien sequel. Right now though I still think Prometheus will fill in the gap and let us know what happened to the Space Jockey.

Cameron's 'right hand man' Van Ling did the T2 transfer. Ling also did the Star Wars DVD's and all of the other Cameron home releases.

Is he the nerd with the home made power loader on the Aliens DVD?

Neville Page is reportedly part of the design of Ridley Scott's Prometheus.

If you're not familiar with his name, he was the creature designer on Cloverfield, Avatar, Star Trek and the upcoming Super 8. He also did a bit of work on Green Lantern and Tron Legacy.

Needless to say, he's a hot commodity and now that he's aboard Scott's prequel to the Alien series, we can expect something pretty cool. It was reported earlier that H.R. Giger would be involved in the project as a supervisor. I wonder if that still stands.

Idris Elba is Captain Janek

http://www.alienprequelnews.com/2011/06/idris-elba-is-captain-janek.html

UK cult TV show website CultBox managed to get an interview with Idris Elba, who is returning as DCI John Luther on British TV-screens next week in the second series of Luther.

Until now we've known very little about Elba's character other than that his name is Janek. But in this interview he reveals an important piece of info regarding Janek:
"... I’m playing a captain, I can’t say much more than that, but his name’s Captain Janek."
Elba, who previously worked with Ridley Scott in American Gangster, says he's having a good time working with Ridley Scott again, and regarding the special effects in Prometheus he adds:
"There’s a fair amount of special effects in this film, yeah. But, with Ridley, he actually prefers to do it for real. Real locations, real sets, which is really a treat for us actors."
Head on over to CultBox to see the full interview.
