It could even be better. I could see that.

by being better this movie would have to have a very original story. which it could .

I dont see what this movie has incommon with Inception.

The potential is there. All I can say is best of luck to them!

I hope Scott can tap into the apocalyptic theme coursing throughout the series about the intertwining destinies shared by humanity and the Alien.

In the series, Ripley and the Nostromo crew, the Marines, the prisoners or the pirates, all fought to destroy the Alien and yet they kept coming back. Always through human interference, be it intentional or not. So the Alien could be like some kind of a perverted ecosystem. Humanity has expanded too far across the Galaxy, consuming resources and that the Aliens only ever prove to be destructive when humanity oversteps it's boundaries, or when it tries to capture and control it. Like we're engineering our own destruction in a war that we've started.

Well that's why they dumped the whole prequel angle.

I dont see what this movie has incommon with Inception.

Original big budget, highly secretive, sci-fi movie, by a critically loved, internet darling, director, with a superb ensemble cast.

they didnt dumbped the prequel angle. they just hide it.

its still a prequel. but its not an ''obvious'' prequel. it is not marketed as a prequel. which is smart. because that way Scott and Fox are in the safe zone. if the movie sucks and fails at the BO they can say that it was not a prequel . very smart from Scott and Fox.

Does a movie that occurs in the same universe as another, but have no connection between events and characters still qualify as a prequel?

Well you claiming there is no connection between the events. I think there will be a giant one....the Space Jockey themselves, and I have a feeling it will end with the crash landing. Ya, I think it is still a prequel, just a different kind of one. I know it's speculative one way or another, I don't know for a fact the Jockey's will crash land, but I'm betting they will. He talked about it on the Alien Anthology how he was excited to go back to that, when they were talking of the Space Jockey.

Yikes I think I just got put in my place. *runs away*

The actual movies will have very little incommin though I think.

what about this

Inception : director makes the movie that he wants to make. WB gives him money and control because hes last movie made 1 billion.

Prometheus: Scott doesnt get the greenlight on hes original script and idea. he agrees to make a different commercial PG13 movie. hes last movie underperformed.

very important IMO.

The rumors I heard indicated Fox thought the script was oscar worthy, but they trimmed it down to PG-13.

This was a rumour way back, and was discarded with a load of other crap like the movie being called Alien Paradise. It wasn't true.

so you think this is the movie that they wanted to make from the beginning?

Yep. Scott even won out in the casting department. Fox wanted Angelina Jolie. He told them to shine Angelina Jolie up real nice, turn her sideways and...

Damn right. Let the man make his goddamn film.

but he is not making the movie that he wanted to make. hes vision was R rated. he is doing now a Pg13 expensive movie.
if the would lower the budget under 10 or 80 millions they would allow him. but Scott still wants a big paycheck correct?

sorry i am a huge fan of Scott. but at the same time i am a hgue fan of Aronofsky and Blomkamp.
you can make a R rated scifi movie with a budget under 100.

We don't know what Scott's vision was. You speak of rumors and assumptions. For all we know he is making the movie he wanted to make.

Has Scott ever said he wanted it to be rated R?

Next to TDKR I'm not going to lie this is becoming my most anticipated film. With such talent from the cast and crew I really hope this is something special. It feels like it very well might be. Man I want a picture or something, they sure have been secure about this film.

I would love the teaser trailer to be some what in the same vein of this.

there ae some news that are rumors and there are times where the info is 100% correct.

we are not talking about a specific budget number. but way to many sites ( with a good track record ) talked about budget problems. so that news is to me 100% true.

i dont even understand why some here are diagreeing with me. i am not saying that the movie will be bad. i am not saying that Scott is a bad director. i ma just saying that this is not the movie that he wanted to make from the beginning. because of all the info and news.

No dark its you running with rumors and calling it fact. Was there budget constraints...maybe, it had to do that he wanted a lot and to create two films. Well it seems its just one right now, so again you have no idea. The budget debates could have been minor, and there is usually budget fights with every big movie, company wants to spend less, and the artists want more its always the case. Some just may have blown it out of proportion.

We really don't know what is happened. Budget problems may have been verbal fights, but you have no idea if it changed a single thing from the original idea...your just assuming it.

Dark doesnt know anything....he thinks he does, but he doesnt.

We dont even know if the Fox Vs. Scott thing was actually true....they've been giving us false info for a while now. "It's not a prequel" yet there is Space Jockies...."there's no Aliens" yet people have seen Aliens.

But is ^ that true? Who knows. It's all a big cluster**** of information which wont make any sense until later this year.
