hmmm. I thought Fox didn't like promoting at comic con unless a movie was directed by James Cameron.
i hope they will not show the aliens . until the final traielr or until the movie comes out.Alien is about teasing. this needs to be teased until the premiere. build up the movie.
Yeah, a nice screening like this is a good way to get some buzz out. I didn't expect this right now. Is this presenting at CC as well?
I hope for a bootleg. But I'll be cntent with a description.
Ya Prometheus is suppose to be at CC this year, so hopefully if not now by then we get some footage for sure. They know they have to get people back into Alien.
I really hope for a bootleg.
Footage to be shown tomorrow: http://alienseries.blogspot.com/2011/06/prometheus-at-cine-europe-expo-280611.html

[2:18:00] Prometheus (and working with Ridley Scott) and its connection to Alien franchise
[2:25:00] - [2:34:00] More on Ridley Scott and Prometheus [fun fact: took 2 weeks to write first draft of script

So after listening to that I came away with a few things, and most of all I'm even more excited. Just listening to him talk about Ridley and what he brought to the table, just excites me.
1. It was interesting how he says again and again that it will please Alien Fanboys (because he claims he is one of them which I believe) and he states this a lot. He at one point says that it is the kind of prequel he would want to see as an Alien Fanboy. So to me this clearly indicates it is an Alien film. However it is vastly different in other ways. I agreed with him on some points about the Prequel trilogy of Star Wars, and it is interesting that he is saying they want to create a prequel, but one that does not spoil too much of the twists from the original two.
2. From the security he had to read the script under in Summer of 2010 pretty much confirms that that Alien Harvest script was complete bull and never was the script. Because it was leaked before then and I doubt they would have a security guy watch him read the script and have him give it back if that was the case.
3. It sounds like some of the ideas are kept from Jon's script, but it sounds like they really did re-tool a lot. Damon said it nicely and did not seem to want to say it flat out but I think in the end yea he really re-wrote it almost from scratch it seems. He said he wrote the first draft in 2 weeks. With lots of meetings with Ridley.
4. I liked how he said that the mood of the film is unsettling, and horror like. That it does fit under the same roof of Alien being a horror and very unsettling. Which I found really interesting how he talked about how Ridley's genius of visuals and mood that he already has in mind is just exciting. And Damon just said that the mood is very dark and serious. Loved it.
5. Damon pretty much confirmed what me and Doctor Jones have talked about a lot, is how they are trying to push away from the "Alien" name in some ways because of crap like Alien Resurrection and AvP. So I think that is interesting that he pretty much said what I said, almost in a cryptic way of why they are not flat out calling it a prequel to Alien, even though it is, a very different kind of prequel, not a typical one, but still an Alien prequel none the less.
Great interview, just got me a million times more excited. And from what he said only 3 more weeks of shooting? Cool.
i think all the footage that would be realesed right now would be for the fans. and every year we have proof that fans dont make or brake a movie. its the general public.I really hope they just release it, since this is more expensive and like you and I have talked about before DJ about how the Alien franchise is in the mud, get this hyped up early, get us buzzing about it because it will do good, because less then a year this film comes out. So I hope they do release some footage, and get a main website up. Though I will be negative and say we probably won't get any of it, descriptions for sure. But hopefully more.
he is a screenwritter on a blockbuster movie talking about hes movie 1 year before the premiere.I think after this interview, nobody should be worried about where the film is heading. Damon has good sense. He understands why prequels (at least, what studios think prequels are) don't work, and that true prequels must be their own story.
I really can't wait to see this. But I am very glad that they have kept the same Alien tone and atmosphere, because that's really what absolutely needs to return.
