If you had to pick between the two what would you rather have happen in Batman 3?

-Have the Joker return and obviously recast him OR

-Have Two-Face return with some cheap explanation as to how he survived.

I'd like joker, Johnny depp could pull it off.

Joker.

TDK's story left off with Two-Face dead and his character arc done, and with an implication that things weren't over between Batman and Joker. Clearly that's the direction to go in.

Shouldn't there be a C - let's move on to some characters we haven't seen in the Nolanverse?

Ideally, a new villain altogether (The Riddler). But based on the options, I'd go with recast The Joker. And none of this Joseph Gordon Levitt ********.

Johnny Depp.

I would rather bring two-face back, i just think ledgers performance was just perfect, and i dont think any other actor will be able to do it the way he did.

How would it be at all "cheap" to bring back Two-Face? He could easily survive that fall.

I really don't see either being necessary.

I'm not one of those people who thinks the Joker can't be recast, but for him to come back right away in a third movie diminishes Batman's victory over him in the second.

As for Two-Face, what's left to do with him?

have Riddler in the third film...

but have this tiny scene where Joker and Twoface is in AAsylum and continuing their "Lets introduce anarchy" thing... that woud be awesome

I didn't put that option because I wanted to see what people would pick between just those two options. I know a lot of people feel that neither should return.

Well yeah I know, but that doesn't mean joker or two-face can't come back as a secondary villain

That's true, its not like having to explain how venom survived in spidey 3, but even though its kind of ambiguous I think most people are under the impression that he died. And then trying to explain that he was alive all along might come off sounding like a bad horror sequel. I also feel that it would kind of ruin the ending to dark knight because Batman can't cover up two-face's crimes forever.

I think Harvey's wounds from the fire were terminal in themselves given that he refused skin graphs and infection would have set in. I don't think he was kidding when he said he was half dead. I think he knew he was going to die and wanted to settle scores first. That's why he said, "There is no escape." So it is not the fall alone, it is all these things combined. He's dead.

get a stand in to look like Heath Ledger's Joker..but dub his voice in with Mark Hamil's...

I agree. His arc is done. The only thing he would do is commit more murders because he is mad. Or rob the second bank of gotham on the second day of the month. Guess at what time...
Come on, yeah we got very little of TwoFace but the way the character was set up, there was nothing more to do.

So the joker will suddenly have a different voice...

Dead people don't resurrect. While I don't think re-casting Joker is absolutely necessary I wouldn't be totally against it.

if the script says two-face is dead, he's dead. Nowhere in the script does it say that Joker dies. It's more believable to stick with a character that isn't dead.

I really wish Two-Face hadn't died.

He could have easily just been knocked out by the fall, or in a coma. With as corrupt as Gotham, and probably Arkham is, Gordon could have easily put a hood on Dent's face and hid him in Arkham. Plus, now that Arkham is the entire area of the Narrows, it'd be WAY too big for anyone to even bother looking for him even if there WAS an inkling of suspicion about Harvey's "death."

Could have been in a coma until TWO-FACE, not Harvey Dent, TWO-FACE, woke up. Then all that would have motivated him was death and the obsession with chance. Killed a guard and/or doctor and escaped. Organize a freak uprising against the dying mob(and there WILL be freaks, Batman's and Joker's antics made sure of that) and finally rustle control away from the mob and into the hands of the new breed of Gotham criminal.

Just would have made things so much easier if Two-Face had survived in the script. Nolan could still bring him back, but it would messy and complicated. He could do it, but I'd rather it be smoother.

Of course, Two-Face would be working behind the scenes. Making deals with the new freakbosses. Roman Sionis, head of whatever company he was head of by day(the anti-Bruce Wayne), Black Mask, the new head of Gotham's organized crime by night. And Penguin, the official gun runner and racketeer of Gotham's criminal underbelly. The combination of mob boss and freak.

They'd have about the same sized roles as Maroni and Falcone in TDK and Begins. Throw in some cameos by Killer Croc as Penguin's body guard or what have you and that works for that.

The main villain should be Riddler. We've seen Batman's rise as an urban legend and the sacrifices he's made in becoming the champion of Gotham, now we need to show off his super-intelligence and detective skills, which was hinted at in both Begins and TDK(TDK to a much bigger extant).

I need to stop before I set out all my ideas, which will take all night.

I'd rather have Two-Face come back. I wish he didn't die in TDK.

None of the above. Batman has plenty of villians that can be used in the next film. Joker is trapped in Arkham and Two - Face is dead.

This.

Depp as Joker. In Nolans realistic world Two-face could not survive very long with such extensive facial damage. Let's face it he was running around as a dead man walking in tdk. I'm really hoping for Catwoman as a woman out on a murder/revenge thing who's an ex-hooker and currently a thief. anoth guy had this idea on anouther post in a story that included a good reason to put in the Mad Hatter and an interesting intro for the Riddler
