I'm 100% okay with that too. But it'd be cool to see Marston's gang days all the same.

Any game with Marston would have to be a prequel unless it was a sequel to Undead Nightmare (which I wouldn't turn down lol). Plus since RDR was set around the end of old west then any old west setting would technically be a prequel also.

Personally I wouldn't mind a gangster themed game that's set in the time frame just after rdr. Not to mention that I've no real desire to revisit Marston's character since I felt his story was told quite well in the last game and it covered much of his past even if it wasn't a firsthand experience.

A new game unrelated to Marston would be better. Id rather they take the GTA approach and have it feature a new protagonist. Marston can show up as an NPC to link them together kind of like how GTA has past characters pop up. I kind of feel like the narrative is limited if they make it a prequel and be about John again. This shouldnt be bound by RDR's continuity

In addition to the campaign, I really got a kick out of the open-world multiplayer.

At least until other players ganged up on me .

Just a theory. They do fit pretty closely though. I imagine Rockstar wants to announce it before the inevitable GameStop promotional leak.

This is a game I've been looking forward to for a long time, Red Dead Redemption may well be my favorite game made by Rockstar. If that pic means it could take Magnificent Seven inspiration that'd be amazing.
