Rockstar Red Dead Redemption

Yea there's no words to describe that. That was just incredible. Can't wait to return to the world of Red Dead.

As for those of you whining about the trailer, have you clowns ever seen an announce trailer from rockstar? They are damn near always in this style. They rarely give anything away during the first trailer.

Sony has announced a partnership with Rockstar/RDR2, so I'd fully expect a better look at PSX in a few weeks.

I wouldn't. We probably won't hear about this again for months. RS always seem to go dark after they drop a trailer

Clowns?

People were disappointed bc they hyped this up and said it was going to be a trailer. This was not a trailer. It was a teaser.

Yeah, there's really no reason to insult people just because they don't share your undying enthusiasm. Don't do that.

The first trailer for most media these days is more like what a teaser used to be and teasers these days are literally announcements for trailers.

They said a trailer was coming Thursday. A trailer came on Thursday. If you over hyped this up, you've only yourself to blame. I didn't get over hyped because I'm observant. I pay attention and I know how Rockstar operates. I knew we would get the type of trailer we got. The rest of you should follow my lead. Be observant.

There's no excuse for being disappointed by an announce trailer from Rockstar. Damn near everyone here has been present for the last few RS announce trailers and they've all been similar. We get shots of the landscape, maybe a quick shot of the protagonist, a voice over and then that's it. We all have access to the same stuff, if I know what to expect with these trailers, the rest of you do.

You can make your point without being insulting and/or acting like you're above everyone else because you're 'in on it.' Not everyone has a feverish devotion to RS trailers that you do or whatever, or may just not be of the same opinion that's a good way of going about revealing thing, etc. Plenty of discussion to be had without being a dick about it.

Jesus Christ, settle down.

There's room for whatever disappointment people have without demanding enrollment in the ProjectPat2280 School of Rockstar Observancy. Be done with the sniping.

Thank you! That tone did come across a bit condescending

Visually, I was very impressed by what I saw. But overall, I was disappointed that we didn't see more.

I cant believe the game of the year edition of the first game is still $30 for a used copy on Xbox 360. The regular edition (no addons) is $30 on Microsoft store.

It's a trailer.. and an awesome one. The fact that it was 100% running on the PS4 blows my mind. This is following standard Rockstar.. they did the same for GTAV. We'll get this for now and then before too long something massive like GTAV Trailer 2.

Would have been more polite, simpler and more accurate just to say that Red Dead Redemption 2's teaser was a similar set up to GTA V's teaser.

Playstation 4 or PS4 Pro? because from here on out, that will always be the question

Part of me still doubts pro will be that significant.. but correct. They didn't say running on Pro tho.. so.. I'm guessing just PS4?

I am totally stoked that we are finally getting RDR 2. I just really hope we don't play as John Marston again. He is one of my all time favorite video game characters, but we know how his story ends and how he got to where he was in life. I would much rather play as someone new.

I've been thinking about what I want from this game since it was released and a few things have come to mind:

1 Slow down the violence. Give us more to do than murder and I'm not talking minigames. An awesome video on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZM2jXyvGOc

2 Actually give us real justification for the game being open world. Red Dead has a similar issue to LA Noire to where the open world is more of afterthought than something that actually enhances the gameplay experience. You could remove the open world and just make the games mission based and you would largely have the same experience. I understand folks got a lot of mileage out of exploring world, but there really wasn't anything to do in that open world outside of the main story. There is quite a bit of "wasted real estate" where **** looks cool, but there is nothing to really do there.

3 To expand on the first point, Don't pad the game with minigames to instill the illusion of variety. Liars dice and poker are fun, but they do not make up for a lack of mission variation. Give me something to do other than murder people sometimes. This is a western, I expect a fair share of violence, but make it matter and give us some real mission variety.

I also did not play GTA V so if they actually addressed some of this is in that game, I would love to know.

IDA on 2. The open world was amazing and R* did a great job throwing in random encounters, challenges, hunting, collecting, etc... I really dont know what people expect or needed

And I also disagree that the game would have been the same experience if it was mission based as opposed to open world. That would have dramatically changed the game and not for the better

GTAV is a different type of game set in a different setting. They did things differently but thats expected considering the last sentence. For one it was set in a city so therefore alot more dense with more activity per region

The collecting and challenges are basically mini game busy work that has no real bearing on the game as a whole. The random encounters are a step in the right direction, but they need to be more varied. If you're going to include these things, make them reactive to the world. Also substantially more fleshed out side missions that run concurrent with the main game and can affect the main game would do wonders. Also a little bit of C&C would do wonders. I'm not saying this needs to be a full blown RPG, but some actual reactivity would not hurt.

I know this seems counter-intuitive to what most people expect but I actually hope to see some bigger towns and cities.

Not necessarily more advanced but just bigger in size than what we got in RDR 1. I think larger towns would only serve to create a bigger appreciation of the wildlife and rural areas.

I'd be down for that.
