Gotham Robin Taylor Lord is Oswald Cobblepot

I know I've said this before but I am absolutely loving Robin's portrayal of Penguin. He steals every scene he's in.

Best Penguin since Burgess Meredith. He stole the first episode. I have ALWAYS loved The Penguin, and it's great to see him get the spotlight in this new show and be depicted so well. I can't wait to see Taylor go darker with the character, and hopefully don the monocle and start smoking from a cigarette holder.

I don't know about the monocle part but the rest I agree with.

What have you got against the monocle? It's a classic Penguin trait.

I'd like to think that the show runners are now very aware of his great performance and will put as much focus on his role as they can. Without a doubt he's the best thing going in this huge ensemble.

It looks like they're grooming him to become the villain of the show. He's already got his arc paved ahead for him and he's connected to the hero of the show.

Isn't he supposed to have an English background? Maybe I'm wrong, but that's a weird change to make

I think it depends, I understood he had his roots (and/or was born) in Gotham and was educated in England.

It's possible that the English accent was just something he put on to make himself sound more distinguished. In any case, we know that this Penguin has European roots, good manners, and a high vocabulary, so I'd say that's close enough for now.

Well I didn't think he was born in England, but that his family originated there. Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot is a pretty stereotypically english name

That's pretty much a recent convention. Like in the last two Arkham games.

I thought he was just faking the British accent?
Cos it's pretty bad in the Arkham games :o

Not so much a English accent but a transatlantic one (think Hollywood circa the 30s & 40s or Rarity)

Well Penguin is also about appearances. I could see him change his own history to reinvent himself. Right now he's a nobody who is made fun of. He doesn't own his Penguin name yet.

Honestly I seem him and Gordon as the main characters. I gotta compare it to Smallville. Both men rise but in different ways. I think what makes the character exciting is we know that these two will make it out of this war and become kings of their own domains.

I agree. He has a great presence. They really struck gold with him.

I thinking Oswald Cobblepot will become Gordon's CI in the Gotham underworld as a debt for saving his life.......

If he's Gordon's rat, he could use that as an advantage. Eliminating his enemies and competition in a sneaky way, under everybody's noses.

I think corruption will be the true 'villains' of the show so the likes of Falcone, Maroni and the Mayor IMO will be the big cheeses. The Penguin will rise up, but he won't be a gatekeeper of Gotham so to speak like Falcone.

This Penguin rules. I like how he's just an outright psycho from the get-go. Sometimes it's fun to have villains who start off good and are corrupted, but sometimes you want a bad guy who's just bad. Can't wait to see where he goes from here.

Watching Oswald's little road trip is kinda like watching Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, if Pee-Wee happened to be a deranged psychopath.

I'm loving it.
