Rogue One Rogue One Box Office Prediction Thread

I wonder if perhaps even overseas they dont want the PC / SJW stuff ruining entertainment ? They have always ate up our Blockbusters but Rogue One & Homecoming went out of their way for the SJW / PC crowd & maybe the International Audience is noticing it ? Look at Ghost In The Shell the only people whining about ScarJo are stupid ass Americans. The Homecoming Box Office is gonna be interesting Internationally based on Rogue One flopping

Rogue One has made nearly a billion dollars worldwide, and it’s a spinoff. Sit down with that nonsense.

In what universe is Rogue One flopping overseas? It is over 400m already. :lmao:

And yeah, they hate that "PC/SJW" stuff so much, they eat up stuff like Fast and Furious and TFA like it was mana from heaven.

Having the head of Lucas Films screaming at the top of her lungs

"We dont need male fans anymore"

A. She never said that.
B. She doesn’t “scream at the top of her lungs”
C. Do successful women frighten you that much?

And finally...

Do you want to tell the 5 guys I saw Rogue One with that it wasn’t supposed to be for them? Because they liked it so much we almost stayed to see it again.

Or the delivery guy at my door today who noticed my Rogue One t-shirt and went on and on about how great he thought it was?

If their business plan is to drive off male fans, they really suck at it.

And isn’t it falling to second place behind Hidden Figures this weekend (which is terrific, btw)? What’s up with these mass audiences embracing diversity at the box office?

Going to be close between the top 3 this week. Rogue One, Sing and Hidden Figures can all take the top spot. All three "agenda driven" flicks. Evil America. :argh:

My brother and I did not know we weren't suppose to see Rogue One 3 times. Why wasn't I told it wasn't for me? :csad:

And there’s a musical lurking around in theaters too...won’t someone think of the fragile masculinity?

My dad wants to see it again. We should seek counseling.

Although I guess they were already bad parents, by taking both of their daughters to see the original movies when they first came out...

My inner man hates me for being excited to see that musical next week.

Embrace the musical. It’s a wonderful art form.

I tried to see it last night, but I got stuck working late. This week, I promise!

I have tickets for Singing in The Rain (they’re showing it in theaters next week!) with my mom next weekend. Hoping to get my dad to see Rogue One again too.

Seriously though, how can anyone take what Kathy said as ditching male audiences? Does this mean until 2015 Star Wars was not seen by one female because it had a male lead? Did no little boys see TFA or Frozen? Will all us males be banned from seeing BatB?

My nephews have seen both TFA and Frozen...

She’s saying they’d like an even BIGGER audience. This comes as a shock to those who until now thought only their needs counted.

Have since I can remember. The Disney renaissance and My Fair Lady were great gateway drugs for me. If only lived in New York....

Considering the stories you have told about seeing Star Wars as a kid with your parents, they must be great company. Glad you get to enjoy these experiences with them. :yay:

We were working on travel plans for Star Wars Celebration and a quick trip to Harry Potter land today...so they’re still pretty cool. :yay:

Exactly. While Star Wars has always been for everyone, the audience has skewed male. And yeah, that probably has to do with only two major female characters existing in 6 films. And even as there are now two films lead by women, we still have a lot more new male characters. They need not cater, they are already plenty of characters for us males to see ourselves in, if that is important to you.

I can't fathom what it must be like to be a little boy or girl seeing Rey, Finn, Chirrut, Bodhi, Poe and others and thinking, "that can be me. I can be the hero in Star Wars.". Hell I am getting close to 30 and seeing Poe still gets me.

They are treasures. Explains their amazing daughter. :yay:

Hell, I’m over 40 and Rey with the lightsaber got me...

There are actually complaints (and they’re not wrong) that Rebels were still mostly guys in Rogue One. My mom and I were talking about it and we both joked, “Baby steps...”

I’ve never seen my nephews get mad at a girl in the lead. They haven’t seen Rogue One yet, but they love Rey. My nephew thought Finn died at the end of TFA when we first saw it, and he was really happy when we told him Finn was OK.

You’re not born assuming everything is supposed to be one way. That’s an attitude that’s taught.

One of the guys I saw Rogue One with on opening night literally shook me by my shoulders during all the cheering that happened when Princess Leia appeared. Amazing...he was excited to see the girl character.

Did someone say I wasn't supposed to like ROGUE ONE because I'm a guy.......oh damn......

Star Wars will probably be the top movie in North America three years in a row which no franchise has ever done.

LucasFilm is doomed...

And girls have cooties. Yeah, I said it! :argh:

There was no bigger reaction in my theater then those final moments pf Rogue One. More so then even Vader, everyone's favorite Princess had the theater rocking.

The baby steps comment reminds me of the discussions about the amount of official Disney Rey merchandise there was last year. It was almost like they were shocked that the merchandise of main character in a Star Wars movie would be in demand. I have this image of the Disney people being like, "but she is a girl".

Yeah, it is all learned. And I am grateful more and more kids are growing up without those annoying expectations.

No Lee, you aren't suppose to like it because you are ancient and thus are suppose to hate anything new. :o

Ahhhhh.....BUT......Star Wars is NOT new......it tells the tale of events from a LONG LONG TIME AGO......
