IMO, It's funny how blatant the bolded is even when its just limited to Batfans on here. Whether its some of the Burton fans, the Batfans who nitpick the trilogy to death because it wasn't comic booky enough or whatever, or some of the Reeves fans.

Let's not pretend in reverse isn't true as well. Any time someone says a criticism of Nolan it is met with derision.

It still baffles me how infinity war is at 85%, I mean it’s a great score but that film is outstanding. A bit closer to this film to ally us Prisoners which is like 81%, and that film is insane.

I hope this finishes somewhere between 85 and 87%, if only so I can hold my head up high and say that I was right. There are two traits fundamental to every person aboard the Hype: a predilection for drinks with an inordinately high sugar content, and a love of being right!

Look I don't mind a "rotten" review but good god - some of the reviews I've seen come across as head scratchers.

"When Christopher Nolan was directing the Dark Knight trilogy, he tore into the Batman mythos with fervor, whereas Reeves just seems to be lackadaisically marinating in misery."

"Again, so much of this is about shock value rather than anything actually scary, since The Batman is handcuffed by its family-friendly PG rating, the result being something like a Saw movie made for Disney+."

I actually thought Infinity War was rather messily structured despite containing great scenes.

I say this as someone who loved Endgame.

There are still positive reviews I've found that hasn't been added yet. Just going have to see where it average out.

But it's not a rating. It's just a listing and the score is just math. The critics are the ones doing the rating. RT is just a stats site for movies really.

Yes I know but can we agree that that is not how it is used by the audience...cause it is definetly used to grade art.

Not anytime, mainly when someone says something ridiculous like "Nolan wasn't actually interested in Batman".

If people said something equally ridiculous about Reeves, they'd get derisive comments too.

In any event, not really sure how this is actually relevant to people wanting to see TDK taken off it's pedestal

Sorry but that is wrong. Dare bring up the fight choreography or Batman fighting during the day or Bruce's return in Rises or Bales voice or any other criticism sometime and see what can happen. The Nolanites can be very testy. (I never brought those up but plenty did over the years)

You can disagree with my opinion on the films (though I don't think you do as much as you think you do I just do a bad job articulating my point a lot of the time) but let's not pretend the Nolan fans don't circle the wagon as much as anyone.

As a Nolanite, I have to agree.

I apologize for using that name FYI it is insulting and I am not trying to denigrate. Man my communication sucks this week!

Yeah...not taking right and wrong lessons from you after some of the takes you've had.

The key phrases there are "what can happen" and "can be", which is different from your previous comment, the one I responded to, where you made it seem like people would get derision from Nolan fans any time they had criticism.

In any event...again...what does any of this really have to do with me talking to Joker about how there are certain fans who want TDK knocked off it's pedestal?

You can disagree with my opinion on the films (though I don't think you do as much as you think you do I just do a bad job articulating my point a lot of the time)

What you think is interesting. Not very accurate in all likelyhood, but interesting.

but let's not pretend the Nolan fans don't circle the wagon as much as anyone.

I...never said they don't.

In any event...again...what does this actually have to do with my response to Joker?

As a Nolanite, I’ve been stuck in arguments with other Nolanites (mainly over Rises), so I agree with this sentiment a lot. The Snyderites are far worse IMO, but Nolan’s movies have flaws… especially the last one. Arguing otherwise is just silly.

But The Dark Knight is still the greatest Batman & superhero movie ever made :D

84% after 253 reviews.

This feels… about right, I think? I’m hovering between 8.5/9 myself.

I can see why some have issues with the movie. Especially those not as invested in the character as we might be.

I honestly don’t think Reeves ever set out to make a crowd pleasing superhero film, so I doubt he’d be surprised that it’s getting some negativity.

The Batman currently shares the same critics score and audience score as fellow Batman reboot Batman Begins released seventeen years ago:
