The Amazing Spider-Man Rules for the Reboot

I second the wall-crawling. I forget who said it, but I remember reading a quote from a Spider-Man artist that said that one of his golden rules when drawing Spidey is that, whenever possible, his feet shouldn't be touching the ground. Wall-crawling, swinging, hanging from a web, perched on a lamp-post... anything but just standing there like a regular guy. I'd like to see this applied to some of the fight scenes, too. Spidey's whole fighting style revolves around improvisation and use of his powers, so I'd love to see them used more and more in the fights.

+1

Whom ever said it, I totally agree! Great post!:up::up:

One rule the writers should have is direction and foresight for future film... allowing for smoothe transition to the next film, when setting up. None of this stand alone BS. Some characters and/or situation/motivation should either directly or indirectly relate to one another... imo. Not always totally separate in between films... anyone know what I mean?

Like a TV show?

Not really like a tv show but if there is a plan for 3 films, at least the studio should know what's coming in and plan what they intend to do to some degree instead of playing it by ear and wondering, "ok wtf do we do now"?

And I agree, I dont want spidey standing around or doing "human" stuff. Spidey consciously or subconsciously is an exhibitionist in his movements, we need to see more of this. I remember years ago complaining about spidey running away from bullet fire from the GG at the world unity festival, that was so lame, spidey should have employed a more visually stunning evasive move than to simply just run away. I roll my eyes at that scene each and every time.

-Lots of web swinging
-Lots of wall crawling
-Spidey quips
-Villains with awesome costumes
-Not every villain getting killed by the end of the movie
-No dancing
-No singing
-Lots of character development
-Cameos of other villains
-Long action fights
-More spidey screen time
-More villain screen time
-Spidey's mask stays on,his face doesn't get shown
-No damsel in distress

Yeah, like a build up of Osborn to become Green Goblin in a future sequel.

1)I hated how Spider-Man's belly would be on the wall in the Raimi films, so it simply looks like he was just lying there, with the camera turned (which is what they did ) as opposed to sticking to the wall via his finger tips.

I'd like to see all of his weight supported by his fingertips and toes while wall crawling this time, so his finger tips should have a clear bend in them, like the pic below.

2) I would also like if Parker clearly cannot stick to walls with his regular shoes on and has to take them off in order to cling. Then there could be a mention of how he's adapted the boots of his costume to deal with this. There's pic i can't find of Peter climbing a wall in the comics, where he has his shoes off..if anyone can find that pic, i'd appreciate it.

3)I'd like to see Spider-Man also carry his street clothes in a web bag.

4)I'd like to see Man-Spider foreshadowed at some point. I know a lot of ppl hate that arc, but i've always liked the idea that the powers he gained through the spider bite were only the beginning of a much larger transformation, into an actual human spider.

If they decide to have villains like Mysterio, Shocker, Scorpion, Electro and Kraven, I would like them to use 2 of these in 1 movie! it would work best! Especially if you have a villain like Mysterio, you would definetly need a second villain imo.

Reality check. The HERO does not ALWAYS save the damn day. If the rumors about some of the script in the reboot are true (God I hope those parts are true at least), this reboot will take a HUGE step in the right direction.

In adding some REAL drama to the franchise as opposed to the Smallville (WB 33) crap drama we got.

Sorry, that is rarely how movies work. They don't toss out million and millions for a writer and director to map out three movies when they don't even know if the first movie is going to make them any money. While I wish that it would happen, because it provides better cohesion story wise, it won't happen. If this movie is a success, then they may map out a second and third story at the same time.

Strange though, Raimi had enough "foresight" to tease up with Dr. Connors in all three (SM1 in name only), and yet fell so short with that same "foresight" on other, more important aspects.

No barking mugger/rapists in the Damn Reboot. Felt like I was watching a scene from West Side Story. Expected them to strike out in song and choreographed dance. :barf:

PROPER Editing. So many LAZY mistakes in the shooting of the previous films. Get some QUALITY people working on the Reboot. Just a couple off the top of my head... the broken/non broken windows in the attempted mugging(dance) scene with MJ in SM1.

In SM2, Aunt May and Peter around the I believe there's a hero in all of us speech time (sheesh.. no more speeches from Aunt May either... especially about how HAWT Uncle Ben looked in Speedos)... we have Aunt May hugging Peter on one side (left or right, I forget which one first), then we cut to behind Peter and she is "magically" on the other side of him hugging, then we cut back to the perspective of front on to Peter, and again, she has magically switched AGAIN.

Sheesh. Poor Quality. And the paying attention to little details makes the feel for the whole.

:woot:

Seriously though, i thought it was an attempted rape scene as opposed to a straight mugging.

OMG yes. I remember thinking, "WTF?! This is how Raimi thinks street thugs act?!"

Side note.. I should probably know, but who is that in your avatar kedrell? She's gorgeous!

Olivia Wilde from a still of Cowboys And Aliens.

 Thanks! Another reason to check out that movie when it comes out.

Well, what I'm getting at is, for there to be a clear vision as to where these movies are intending to go. Yes, I'll bring up TDK and Nolan because he's one of the few professionals out there who seems to know and understand the craft of movie making. Nolan wanted to redo batman from scratch and by the end of the movie he and us knew that the next film will involve the joker. By the end of TDK, we had batman in a predicament where he was now regarded as public enemy number one and thus, the 3rd instalment, TDKR will probably focus on Batman's strenuous and undoubtedly spectacular journey to be recognised as Gotham's saviour once again. See how simple it is? Nolan's plan was clear from the very start. He was only going to do 3 movies. With spider-man, Raimi and the producers were talking about doing 6 movies and all that nonsense, yet by movie number 2, they couldn't even come to a straight forward decision as to which villains they were going to use and don't get me started on SM3 let alone the even more absurd proposal of what SM4 was going to be about.

I'm not expecting full blown screenplays at the ready for all 3 movies but a clear enough outline that focuses on where exactly these movies are going isn't rocket science and by the looks of things, Webb just might actually be avoiding many of the mistakes ad errors that plagued Raimi's films.

At the very least we have Gwen, Stone in an interview has already conveyed that she's keeping the blond hair for the next few years as she's involved in "spider-men" as in more than one movie. I presume Webb is actually going to build up and DO something with her character during the course of the movies, whislt hopefully giving us interesting events and setups.

It would be interesting to see some sort of build up to Spider-man's fighting abilities. I get that he's super strong but it would be kind of neat to see him start out unable to actually harness that ability to its full potential. I guess it'd be neat to see him grow from the beginning slowly, rather than one scene for each power like Raimi's Spider-man movies.

Make use of Spider-Man's rich supporting cast.

Signs look good with the early (and important) introduction of Capt Stacy, and others.

My only concern is the possibility of not having MJ in this one. Still hoping for an ending where we get the Face it Tiger line at the end. But it's looking less likely now with some of the shooting scenes that have leaked. (seems like the appropriate type ending from the leaks).

If so, I can hope to see MJ intro'd in the second film.

How 'bout we quit bringing up Raimi or his movies in any other threads besides the threads that are devoted or anti devoted to him? It's like you have to bash something to prove your point.

Raimi didn't write the script for SM1 or SM2 so there goes your "point".

Do show an origin (like in the beginning of TIH) to truly separate this movie from Raimi's trilogy

At first I thought I did not want to see an Origin, but the more I think about it, I do want to see an origin. Preferably in Flashbacks. And preferably at Uncle Ben's funeral as one poster suggested a while back.

That could be very moving and powerful.

Spider-man's origin is so integral to who Peter is as a person that it can't be trivialized like it was in TIH or any other superhero film. If the origin isn't told and done right this time, then this is simply a sequel to Raimi's films, but with a different cast.

Ultimately, I'd much rather see a Romita inspired animated series done by Bruce Timm than get another live action film, but that's me.
