Even when Shailene is done up to the nines she doesn't even looked as pretty as Ultimate Mary Jane who was the toned down more girl next door MJ than the 616. Besides, KD looked like Ultimate MJ in SM1. After that she looked like a patient. I would have never said anything if Shailene was playing Carlie Cooper.

I haven't seen a single frame of footage but I am convinced she isn't right for the part. Anyone who thinks she is is kidding themselves. I'm waiting 'till TV to see her done right.

not everything is about looks my friend, she may not be a supermodel but she pretty enough to be mary jane and the rest is about how she is portrayed that matters

but hey i hear megan fox may be april in TMNT so gives you something to look forward too

Jane Levy would have made a great MJ. I also wouldn't have minded Fox, but I think she is past the whole High School role phase.

Levy doesn't actually look too much like Emma on screen.

I still don't see Shailene as MJ though. I wonder if they are going to change her character a bit from a sexy popular chick to a cute bad girl type.

NO-ONE is going to show up to see Shailene. If they cast someone big at the moment that would work in their favour

First of all, I don't think casting a newcomer or an relative unknown is a problem at all, I actually think it works better sometimes. Having said that, I'm sure you know that Shailene won the highly coveted, lead role of Tris in the new franchise "Divergent" which is hugely popular with the YA crowd and is being touted as the next "Hunger Games" and we all saw what happened with Jennifer Lawrence...

Shailene may not be a big enough name for you now, but she will be as Divergent will be released in March 2014, two months before Spiderman. There will be a huge media blitz and worldwide press tour surrounding Divergent, trust me the public will know who she is when Spidey comes out.

Divergent isn't just for the teeny bopper crowd, it will reach a large audience including adults. It's not Twilight. I've read the two books so far and Shailene will be great, she will get to play a pretty kick ass character (like Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen) lots of attitude, no wimpy damsel in distress stuff in this movie.

Yes, its been confirmed that her role will be small. And by the time TASM3 comes out, she would have most likely gained more popularity. Either way, her being an unknown actress doesn't mean anything in the end.

They cast Megan Fox last week, many a reaction, pretty but can't "act"(whatever that means).

They cast Woodley and many a reaction, ugly but can act.

Either way, many a fanboy ain't happy. The age of the internet fan community.

I know the girl can act from seeing her in "The Descendants" and she probably was just on set rehearsing or scoping out the scene if anything else yesterday, but I agree with the talkback going on... she's average-looking at best. To be honest, I never understood the hatred for Kirsten Dunst ("SM3" her age started to show and her character was badly written) but I felt she was a good MJ.

Now, as said before lighting and makeup can change everything, but I just feel like a Mary Elizabeth Winstead or Evan Rachel Wood could've pulled off the best comics-to-screen MJ ever. Maybe Shailene will do that, I'm not making my decision just from two photos, but compared to Emma Stone, she looks like the best friend-type. Where you get dumped by the hot chick at school, but suddenly her best friend feels pity for you and wants to date you, and you realize that your ex was a ***** or you had nothing in common at all, and with this new chick everything clicks and feels magical.

As for Megan Fox as April O'Neil... she's got April's **** and that's it. I wish her and Lindsay Lohan would just make a porno together and save us from their acting and infamous careers.

I think there should be no recasting within a story arc, but once it is told, they could recast everyone to continue telling more spider-man stories.

Something tells me they are going to change MJ's role though. She probably won't be the popular pretty girl with the adventurous spirit. I'm guessing she is going to either be a bad girl type with an adventurous side or a slightly emo girl with family problems.

I've seen Shailene in a few of her other roles and this seems to be her thing. I hate to see actors typecast but I would it hold it past the CDs and Webb if they cast her because she is good at this.

yes it is. She looks good! She doesnt have any makeup on the set pics. Most models look terrible without makeup... she will get some paint on her face and most people will shut up^^

Not too long ago fans were defending the aging Amy Adams beauty to each other.(in the role of Lois Lane the career woman/super model).

This community is going the way of twilight fans. Where the girls debate whos the hottest actor and thus worthy of said beautiful vampire god.

From what I've seen this Woodley can get pretty done up when she needs to. Who's to say Mary Jane isn't the same.

As for April O'neil, she's not Barbara Walters, it's nothing beyond Fox's ability to imitate a young broadcast journalist in an adaptation of yet another 80s toy commercial. A little perspective here.

They have fairly striking facial features, compared to Shailene who is just kinda whatever. Again, she's not UGLY by any means but she just doesn't have a look that would catch the attention of the HS quarterback.
