SM3 Lizard Discussion

It's true, they really can. Don't read TOOOO much into "development." Of course characters could always stand to use more, and it helps, but you can do a good movie in which you feel sympathy for a "villain" in one movie.

Two very good points - but they DEFINITELY need to develop Dr. Conners' character SOME at least, just so we CAN feel sorry for him - you know, the first 1/4 of the movie or so...:D

You see, Dr. Conners' character has not been developed very highly - if they DEVELOP it during 3, and THEN have him as the Lizard in 4, than I think that would be best. After all, how are we supposed to feel sorry for him when we barely know him? Feeling sympathy for him is a big part of enjoying the whole "Lizard" thing. Just a thought...
Use War Eagle's idea of doing it vaguely similar to "The Fly". ;) Prolong Connors' slow, disturbing transformation from man to reptile( As mentioned before, sort of like how it was done in Cronenberg's "The Fly" movie) making it last long enough that the character becomes properly fleshed out and sympathetic by the time he becomes a mindless reptile known as the Lizard. :o

Also, it would only take a few scenes and brief moments in other scenes to demonstrate Conners as a loving husband and father, IMO. :)

Very nice - but where would the action scenes with Spiderman vs. Lizard be? They'd be at the very end...which, as long as it's done right, I can tolerate, but the Lizaholics out there wouldn't. Just a thought...good point, though.

Another tricky part of the whole Lizard transformation concept is that you don't want to wait untill the end of the movie for it to happen, but Dylan Baker also deserves to get in some good scenes before he gets replaced by a CGI/prosthetic Lizard for the rest of the film.

IF Harry is going to become a Goblin in SM3, that shouldn't happen until the very end. The final "real-time" scenes with Baker playing Connors before he transforms should probably come about 30-40 minutes into the film. Then Lizzy should appear, and Connors "goes missing". Then perhaps the transformation itself could be shown in flashbacks later in the film.

It's a given that Baker himself wouldn't get as much screen-time as Defoe or Molina did in the first two films since that's just the nature of the Lizard character. Baker is a great actor, but he's not a huge, well-known name, so he probably wouldn't throw a fit about having a smaller script than those villains before him.

I would really love to see The Lizard done in the movies. It would be nice to see a villain who is actually transforming into something, as opposed to simply having high-tech gadgets and becoming insane. I think a vicious creature villian is just what the doctor ordered.

I wouldn't mind seeing Harry as Hobgoblin/GG2/ whatever they decide to call him, but The Lizard should definitely pop up! Seeing Curt Conners in part2 and not seeing the Lizard in part 3 would just be a terrib;e tease.:(

As a side, Lizard-related note, I'd just like to say that I hope they use as much animatronics as possible for the Lizard in Spiderman 3 - Though I realize that CGI allows filmmakers to add all kinds of never-before-possible stunts and whatnot, which will definitely be required for the Lizard, I hope that they at least use animatronics for up-close, slower stuff. It's always more believable and tangible that way...therefore, far more convincing and enjoyable. At least, from my perspective. After all, pretend Gremlins was all CGI. It would be significantly less entertaining, in my humble opinion. But the masterful animatronic work made that movie better than what it deserved to be.

Henceforth, filmmakers, I propose (and plead for) this: GIVE JIM HENSON A SHOT, MAN!!!:D That is all....for now.;)

it wouldnt take to long to develop

The first 30 minutes of SM3 would be enough time to establish Connor's motivation to regrow his arm, show his research, and even meet his family.

That leaves 90 minutes for Lizard vs Spidey action! :)

Well, MJ's newly-acquired fame and fortune would warrant one, I think...;)

:( i miss the cake i didnt even get a pice...............DARN YOU LIZARD ILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND KILL YOU AS GOD IS MY WITNESS!

Spiderman/Peter: "You can terrorize the city - you can sic alligators on the innocent - you can tear people's flesh from their very bones on a daily basis - you can even have crazy ambitions of taking over the world with nothing but reptiles...but WHEN YOU TEAR UP MY WEDDING CAKE AND MAKE IT SO I CAN'T HAVE A PIECE, YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR, LIZARD!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" (Lunges at Lizard with furious rage);)

Lizard (as he gets beaten to a lizardy-pulp): "Sssssssssssorryyyy....."

I was looking at the design for Lizardman from the Soul Calibur 2 game, and I have to say that I prefered the original SC Lizardman better than this:

The player 2 version looks like an Ankylosaurus:

The Lizard needs more character than this. A more expressive face.

Let's see - he's half-human, half-lizard...lizards have ZERO facial expressions except for opening their mouth, while humans have TONS of facial expressions - it's what makes us human, in a way. So...therefore...the Lizard must reach a middle ground in facial expressions - how the puppeteers/CGI artists are gonna pull that off will be truly interesting...:)

You're right, Lizard - he DOES look like an Ankylosaurus - since when does a "Lizardman" have natural armor-plates on his back...?

They should go with that, as well as with what they did with Sameul in Hellboy, with a guy in the suit.

I must admit that Samael was done quite well for the most part in Hellboy, and it made me think about all the cool scenes that could set up for a Spidey vs Lizard battle while I was watching those parts of Hellboy.
