SM3 Lizard Discussion

I just had a scary thought----

It has just been announced that a film remake of the classic 1970's Saturday morning show Land of the Lost is in the works - http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=30865
Even though this remake is starring Will Farrell and will thus most likely be a comedy, there are still plenty of opportunities for cool special effects.

What has me concerned is the prospect of updated lizardlike versions of the "Sleestak" monsters from the original show:

True, the original Sleestak don't look anything like The Lizard, and maybe the movie remake will try to stick to the weird creepiness of the original designs. But if the Lizard doesn't appear in SM3, I'm worried that the movie Sleestak might mess up future chances for other lizard-men to appear onscreen if they look to much like "traditional" lizard-men.

I thought it was... Secret War # 5 isn't out yet is it?

BTW, the Spidey vs Lizard painting appears as a pin-up page in the back of Secret War #1.

Yeah I got that, heck secret wars 1 is the only comic out of the series I have. But I thought the series was done with, oh well.

This picture alone, would have me more excited about a Spider-Man movie with the Lizard, than any of the rumors we have for SM3 so far.

They should use this picture as a promo movie poster for the Spidey movie to come with the Lizard. Sweeeeeet.

Agreed. My initial and still my favourite idea for SM3 would be to have spidey go up against GG2 and the lizard.

I'm keeping an eye on Dylan Baker's listing over at IMDB.com to see what his next projects might be.

So far, the most recent thing on there is Hide and Seek from two months ago.
I wonder if he's just in a dry spell, or if he's actually signed to something secret...

Lizard is cool but I wouldn't want to see him as the main villian...on my post on the Sandman discussion i said maybe he may be one of villains maybe. I really want to see a human villain instead of a monster.

With Raimi on board we will see the Lizard if not in S-M3,definitely in S-M4.

I see but I never liked the coat.

I agree if you're talking about a Lizard in a complete, and neatly white lab coat. I imagine the movie version will be only the remnants of a lab coat, ripped, shredded, stained (blood), tattered, torn to pieces by the Lizard in an attempt to get it off. Could and should look extremely cool in my mind.

The lab coat would be nice to see during the early stage of the transformation, but when Lizzy starts running around down in the sewers, he should lose it.

--Which raises the question of whether or not Lizzy should have a shirt on underneath the coat. I'd say yes, but ripped in tatters of course.

If Lizzy goes shirtless, then his pants should DEFINITELY NOT be purple, because that's just too Hulk-like for me.

Dumbest. post. ever.

Wow - I just now noticed that LORD_GALVATRON got banned way back in January. I didn't even realize he was gone. Heh.

The Lizard should have a few different looks.Like when Dr.Connors is at work and is wearing his lab coat and transforms into the Lizard, then he should have the lab coat. But when Dr.Connors is like at home wearing like swim trunks sitting in a jucuzzi and transforms into the Lizard then he should just have those swim trunks on.Or if Dr.Connors in another scene is just wearing a grey suit when he transforms into the Lizard, then he should just be wearing the grey pants too them.

The Lizard does indeed like jacuzzis, it's true. :)

Yep and who wears purple pants really?

As viewers of the Star Trek : Enterprise TV show might know, this past weekend's episode reintroduced the Gorn alien lizardman race originally seen way back in the original Star Trek series episode "Arena":

The Enterprise episode "Mirror Darkly part 2" featured a CGI Gorn that predictably had been changed in design from the old 1960's rubber suit Gorn. Since this is the first CGI lizardman we've seen outside of video games, I thought I'd post some screencaps here for critique:

077-vi.jpg

078-vi.jpg

080-vi.jpg

082-vi.jpg

I'm not surprised to see some dinosaur-like qualities given to the Gorn, although a tail would have been a nice addition as well. The CGI wasn't very good however -- anything similar to this done for the Lizard would have to be MUCH better.

The use of three-fingered hands was probably just done to keep the CGI model simple, since the original Gorn had five fingers. The moving ridges on the brow were quite expressive, but the teeth should have been bigger, and the snout looked too blunt and somewhat parrot-like when the mouth was closed.

That is a pretty good CGI lizard for a television show,so in a spidey movie I'm sure the Lizard will look even more amazing.

I hope they would make something like the ult version of Lizard.

One benefit of not getting the Lizard in SM3 (if it turns out to be so... Hey... I gotta look for some silver lining in the damn clouds ;) ) is... another 3 years to perfect the CGI even more, before he graces the screen.

If I end up having to waiting another 5 years to possibly see the Lizard onscreen, then I'm going to expect a totally photorealistic 3-D Lizard to jump off the screen and land in the seat next to me.

Agreed - it should not be the CLOTHES (i.e. the lab coat and purple pants) that trigger the transformation. :D ;)

Well, it worked for Jaws and Friday the 13th, didn't it?

--Or did it...?

Those were NOT good enough movies (Jaws 3-D ESPECIALLY) to make up for the SORRY 3-D effects they exposed the audience to. :p

Has anyone ever seen an IMAX movie in 3-D? When you see TRULY GOOD 3-D effects in movies, it makes you wish ALL action movies were like that! And a Spiderman movie at that....man, I mentally SALIVATE at the thought...:D
