I think several people in the audience shuddered when they noticed that piece of wood sticking thru Frost's ear.

Just got back from seeing this and overall it was pretty good. Maybe 7.5/10. Hadn't seen Kristin Stewart in a movie yet and she was ok, nothing special. Hemsworth I found pretty average too - ok so he had some melodramatic scenes that showed he had some range, but he didn't really do much either. He pulled off the action really well though, as expected, as did the other guy ("William").

By far the best thing about the movie had to be Charlize though. She was awesome! She chewed and spit scenery! What I loved most about her was that she was as evil as she was hot. :p I can't get over how amazing Charlize was. Man she just had me glued to the screen and when she wasn't on screen, I wanted her to be on screen! If nothing else I definitely recommend this movie for fans of Charlize. I've seen all her movies so far and this has to be my new favorite performance from her! She was so evilly good, I fell in love with her some more. It was the sort of performance that I bet will earn her an MTV-type award next year for something like favorite villain. I'd rate her performance alone at 11/10!

I can't wait to see her next in Prometheus..... :)

My other favorite parts of the movie were the dwarves who added just the right humor and the overall fantasy vibe with all of the monsters and animals. Loved the scene in the Dark Forest for example where all those creepy monsters & shapes showed up, including the insects.

Haha, somebody said they were afraid of her yet wanted to bang her at the same time.

Saw this tonight, enjoyed it A LOT more than I was expecting after reading some of the reviews. All of the cast were great, first full movie i've watched with Kristen in and I thought she made a really good Snow White, took the part off well and looked very attractive while doing so, something I have never found with her just looking at pictures.

Hemsworth (some dramatic parts he pulled off to a tee, his accent was a bit wavy but its hard one to pull off and he gets credit for trying IMOT) and the Dwarves were great, as was the Prince and Ravenna's brother who came across as really creepy, but Charlize stole the show, her Ravenna was deliciously evil, superbly so, and yet the performance carried with it a touch of sorrow and yes, even sympathy. I actually felt sympathy for this wicked creature at some parts, particularly her final scene, and thats a testament to Theron's performance.

I knew this was a darker take on the Snow White tale, but I was also actually surprised at HOW dark this movie got at points, but surprised in a good way. Thought the effects and look of the movie was great, especially the dark and then enchanted forest, this director certainly has an eye for a beautiful shot, and I thought he pulled off the dramatic parts as well. Sanders downsides though were his story-telling at points and his shooting of action, which involved a bit too much shakey-cam for me.

Overall though, I thoroughly enjoyed it when I expected to come out with nothing more than 'meh, it was okay' response, 7/10, but this is one of those movies were I think the score could rise from repeat viewings.

Saw it over the weekend, because my friend REALLY wanted to check it out.

Umm ... It was ok. It was a very pretty movie, I'll give it that. All in all, it was completely inoffensive, but it didn't really capture my imagination either. Glad I saw it once, don't plan on seeing it again anytime soon.

Terrible. I can't believe after wanting to see this for so long ever since the first trailer was released THIS is how it turned out. Just........ughrl.

Hemsworth sucks. Charlize was laughably over the top (everyone in the audience laughed at her performance more often than not. "Briiiing mah her HOT!"), Stewart is just THERE, the dwarves were flimsy and underused and for the most part I couldn't even understand what they were saying. The movie overall is just very stale and lifeless.

I read an earlier draft of the script and thought it was much better than what we got.

Hemsworth sucks? No, just no

yeah, he was definitely the strong point of the film...and this is coming from somebody who didn't really like this film.

Well I wasn't sure what accent the Huntsman was doing at times. Also didn't help that he narrated the beginning.

Wouldn't have mattered to me since I thought the opening narration was kind of bad in its editing and dialogue.

Really?! So you checked with every single person in the theatre to see if they were laughing or not?

I don't know about the rest of my theater, but I thought her performance was rather hilarious at times, I thought she came off like an angry twelve year old when she would start yelling randomly.

Charlize knew what kind of movie she was in, and chewed every scene up. This is one of the rare things where scene chewing works. It doesn't hurt that she's hot.

She's suppose to be out of her mind so she basically went all the way.

Exactly, and she was the best thing about the film, besides the visuals. If she underplayed it, then the movie would have been gloom and doom.

Oh I wasn't commenting about her acting in the movie. I was being a smartass towards kickass because I can't stand that exaggeration when people say "everyone" was laughing or booing in a theater.

Theron was over-the-top at times with her yelling.

I thought Hemsworth was good, though his accent was forced at times.

Yeah, that Scottish brogue can be a ***** to understand if you can't get it right. Hemsworth was ok, but it wasn't as good as it coulda been.

Yes, whenever someone on here talks about what everyone in the theater was doing, you can be sure that it's BS because it always coincides with the poster's opinion of the movie. It can range from "everyone" in the theater making snarky remarks and throwing stuff at the screen or walking out, or everyone goes to the movies dressed in their Sunday best and shouts hosannas, hallalujahs, does backflips in the aisle, and talks in tongues when the movie has finished.

Its just a general consensus, everyone does it all the time. What might be true for one screening isn't for another.

So, saw the movie. My thoughts:

It was a visually stunning film. The director has a history of music videos and the imagery showed this. Everything looked great. I was particularly fond of the scene that was very Disney-esqque of the animals leading Snow White to the unic....err white deer that she touches before it is shot and hurt by the forces of darkness (coughLegendcough). It was the one point where the movie really sucked you into the visual feast they were going for. In fact, even though it certainly pulls from many films and media quite blatantly (LOTR battles, Legend nature visuals, Neverending Story bog-eating horses, Game of Thrones royal incest, etc. etc.) it works well in creating its own distinct world that is at least pretty to look at.

However, the problem is there is nothing below that surface. The plot of this movie is paper thin and despite having the rich heritage of the Snow White myth and the Brothers Grimm in particular to pull from, they choose to just go through the motions of Hollywood committee writing. She's the chosen one, blah blah, the Huntsman falls in love with her even though they have about five lines blah blah, half an hour is them talking for 20-second pitches between action scenes, etc. etc. Apparently all it took to defeat the Queen is to sneak dwarves through the sewers to open the gates? Did they really need Snow White for that?

Charlize Theron is a lot of fun to watch. However, she is not allowed to fully ham it up and devour the screen with her character. Despite dominating the first 15 minutes of the movie (the best part of it), once Snow White escapes she just mopes around one room in her castle with varying degrees of old-age make-up and pain on her face. Then Snow White comes and fights her. Not a whole lot to do.

Chris Hemsworth plays the burly hero who swings the axe. He swings the axe well and beyond giving Snow White the fabled kiss (as opposed to the prince), that's all that's asked of him. And swing that axe well, he did.

I'm just going to be honest Kristen Stewart was terribly miscast in this movie. I don't think she's a bad actress and I in fact liked her in Adventureland, Into the Wild, and The Runaways. However, her being Snow White always seemed odd and proved to be worse. Let's just ignore that she's supposedly more beautiful in this story than Charlize Theron (when she's obviously not), but her entire presence is a blank slate. Granted, much of that has to do with the paper thin script and a director who is more interested in visuals than pacing or storytelling. Still, Hemsworth is able to muddle through to positive results, same with the all-star Seven (Eight?) Dwarves. And Theron is able to turn her underdeveloped role into a scene-stealer. But Stewart as Snow White, much less a heroic Snow White who leads knights into battle and charges with all the St. Crispin's Day trappings that go along with it, just doesn't work. She's expresionless. She has no chemistry with Hemsworth or the prince. It just doesn't work.

The movie made a slick trailer, but it's as rotten as Snow White's ill-fated apple.

Oh well.
