collins naturally looks like a disney princess she has a very sweetheart look to her and just fits singh's pg family friendly snow white

Kristen not so much and she fits sander's more gothic, moody, darker look and tone

You could easily do a mock up of Collins as Stewart's SW and make her look equally moody and dark, there's nothing that's been shown that you couldn't apply to Collins.

I personally perfer Kristen Kruek to either really. And as far as SWATH and M&M I think Megan Fox or Mila Kunis look more the part and are probably better at acting than either one of them.

oh come on now kristen is a much better actress than megan fox and kreuk

^Oh that's cute. Have you actually watched anything she does? She plays herself every role: A very aquired girl that is constantly bitting her lip. I feel like I'm watching a continuation of Twilight every proformance she gives. I think at best she is tied with most actresses of her gen. and that makes her average at best!

She hasn't really done anything more than they have and she's had more chances to show that she could be better.

Before Twilight, I was very impressed with Stewart in her small role in the superb Into The Wild. She also was surprisingly believable and solid as Joan Jett in The Runaways, so I don't think she is nearly as bad as her many haters suggest--and she's certainly way better an actress than Megan Fox and Kristen Kreuk. With that said, she has not shown an amazing range and I doubt her fame post-Twilight is going to last. Her as Snow White is another one of those attempts to cast her in typical "It Girl" fare (think Keira Knightley in King Arthur after POTC was a sleeper hit). It just doesn't fit her range or style. And yes, pretending she is prettier than Charlize Theron is hardly believable.

With that said, I think it's more turning Snow White into a literal warrior princess having Lord of the Ring-styled battles alongside Thor is more of this movie's problem. Just my opinion.

I don't know why the Charlize vs Kristen beauty argument is still going on considering we all know that inner beauty will be a factor hence why the Queen has to consume Snow White's heart.

Plus Charlize is a woman who is completely comfortable with her beauty and status, Kristen is a girl who is still getting used to all eyes being on her for more than just acting, it's really an apples and oranges deal.

She said she took a serial killer approach for the role.

Which is apt since the Queen is basically a serial killer.

Yeah, Kristen doesn't really do all that much for me, but what does it really matter? If she acts well in the role, that's all I care about. I think she's a good actress when directed well. She WAS Joan Jett in The Runaways. I think though that when she's in a film with poor direction, she reverts back into that boring, awkward Twilight/Adventureland character that is damn near unwatchable. Hopefully that won't be the case here. Given the subject material, I hardly think it will be.

Actually that is why the movie excites me, it reminds me of that spec script that was sold called Sheriff of Nottingham, which was going to be a re-imagining of the Robin Hood mythos into something fresh and interesting, in the end it merely became another Robin Hood movie with Ridley's medieval battle sequences added in. Here we have a classic tale again being pitched as a re-imagining but this time it's actually being followed through on and I personally think that is exciting.

People can argue til they're blue in the face about 'inner beauty' but most people associate the story with physical beauty. And I agree with DACrowe, the turning the character into a warrior princess thing is kinda lame and cliched nowadays.

Edit: Having just done a quick search apparently the original wording from the original English translation is 'Who is the most beautiful of them all'.

Women no longer want to simply see the female character rescued by the big strapping hero, even Captain America turned Peggy into a competent ass kicker, it's not lame or cliched IMO, it's simply evolution.

^thank you the days of the damsel in distress has died

no one wants to see that anymore female empowerment is a big thing now and nothing wrong with that

Yeah, exactly. And Peggy was a big hit with audiences. That's really saying something because comic book fans tend to view the love interest role as the "weak link" in the movie (see: Rachel Dawes).

I love how they didn't give Kristen one word in the trailer. It looks visually pretty but I think it's going to bomb. If it didn't have Kristen in it and they didn't try to so rip-off Alice in Wonderland 3D with the battle ready chick then I think this might be more interesting to me at this point. But, right now Kristen Stewart ruins it for me and I think they know they made a mistake.

I didn't once think of the eye cancer that was Alice in Wonderland when watching that trailer.

Thanks! Yeah, as soon as I saw Mirror Man, I knew what my new avvy would be. Definitely one of the coolest FX images I've seen in a while. It's like the T-1000 if he was a Druid.

That was the moment where my interest went from "Looks cool" to "Oh hell yes!" :D

Huh? Romantic comedies are the modern equivalent of strapping heroes rescuing princesses in distress and women love them. It's lazy now to take a classic female character and 'toughen' her up by simply giving her a sword and saying 'job done'. If you wanna create a kick arse female character then do something original.

Rom coms now have guys like Justin Timberlake and Michael Cera as their leads, and the women are usually strong, funny and successful. Same as in modern action movies women are depicted as capable of getting involved in the fighting. All they have done here is try something new with an old fairytale, reworking classic elements to bring a fresh take on the material, I don't see anything wrong with that.

They're still at the core the same fairy tales though . Look, there's nothing wrong with revamping something, but do something that hasn't been done before for crying out loud. Not saying you have to stay with the damsel in distress thing but try something else other than giving the girl a sword to make her 'cooler'. Anyway, I think I'm done talking about a movie I'm more than likely not going to see lol.

There may be more to it than that, she has the sword and armour to go to battle for her kingdom after the Hunstman trains her from what I understand, so it's not about being "cool" it's about the development of Snow White from victim to warrior. it basically seems to be taking the fairytale and classic elements from adventure stories in general and is trying to present them in a visually exciting new way IMO.

^ but that is majority of people's source material and what they remember her form their child hood
And main reason why people complained about Alice, RRH, and this being dark. Sad, really.

^they think hated those movies because umm they sucked being dark was'nt the reason they dislike them
