Noah Huntley
is headed back to Medieval times to play the King Magnus in Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman," producer Palak Patel announced on his Twitter feed. The Englishman, who played a small part in "Your Highness" as the head knight, was also a regular on the British medical drama "Holby City."

lmao, i think it's suppose to be a tree, I remember that scene from the disney one where the trees look all demonic. I guess the director took it literally.

Why do I get the feeling this is going to be like Burton's Alice in Wonderland?

Because it is. I don't know if I would boast about that either.

I read one of the drafts of the script for this movie and I am very excited about it. The concepts and ideas are interesting, and I really think it will surprise ppl. kristen Stewart seems to be the only thing I'm worried about BUT we'll see. Everything else is ace.

I think it will turn out more like a Narnia movie.

Never said it was a positive. Instead of making a straight up Alice movie Burton and co bastardized it into something completely different. I get the same vibe with this. At least the other Snow White film looks to be heading down a more traditional route. If they wanna do some gritty looking fantasy film then do something original I say.

The original story of Snow White isn't "traditional" at all though. Even though this film isn't the original story and instead it's own take, I think it has every right to be as dark and gritty as it wants to be when we've already had the light and fluffy Snow White for many years.

I think ppl just don't want to be bothered because of who's playing Snow White. I'm a little worried as well, but I loved the script, all the new ideas they brought to it, the world they created, and I think they'll pull it off.

If anything looks more like Burton's awful Wonderland, it's Mirror, Mirror.

BTW the teaser trailer will debut this Thursday on Apple.

The thing about own takes is that more often than not they bare little resemblance to the reference material, in which case you may as well do something original.

So then why isn't the same being said for Mirror, Mirror? Do ppl like it more because it has flashy bright colors?

I was talking about the marketing department for this movie...not you:awesome: I would not boast about it being like Alice as that movie was poop...but this looks exactly the same marketing wise so far.

And I have no interest in this movie what so ever. Kristen Stewart is an awful actress. If someone else was the lead then maybe.

Coz it's what people expect. Nothing wrong with going a darker path with a story, but there is a point where the tinkering is so much you wonder why the didn't just go with something original. Seriously that image above shows some epic effing battle sequence and Kristen with a dagger looking all warrior princess like which to me screams this is going to bare little resemblance to the usual story, in which case why bother? Name recognition is the main reason.

I would argue that Mirror, Mirror looks like Snow White and is a genuine attempt to bring Snow White to film.

As opposed to this, which seems created to latch on to a certain audience and looks to have found most of its creative juices in the movies it has so obviously ripped off.

Nailed it!

And Mirror, Mirror doesn't resemble anything else before it? It doesn't look like a balloon parody of Alice in Wonderland : Snow White Edition?

This "genuine" attempt you speak of maybe only works in a sense that it's a live-action adaptation of the story. But then again, Mirror, Mirror is supposed to be............a comedy. Perhaps The Princess Diaries with 10X the budget and special effects, I suppose, is what ppl want.

Whereas with Huntsman, we have a adaptation of an originally dark story being made into a dark film. I'm not quite sure what films you're thinking of when you blame it for 'ripping off" but this fits more with what I want to see than what we've always seen with Snow White.

Maybe ppl don't take the story of Snow White seriously enough to think it can have any merit or worth being anything other than a light fantasy. Ugh.

BTW, I don't want to sound like I'm completely against the other film. Mirror, Mirror is actually a fantastic title for it, and one I wouldn't have thought of myself. And I like the actress playing Snow White. But other than that, I want to see Snow White get down and dirty for once (that sounds filthy, I know). And seeing as she doesn't want to be the typical damsel in distress anymore, I like that newer ballsy approach to the fairytale.

It's the very irony of her character; a young beautiful girl who's supposed to be sweet and lovely and fragile, like snow, has no choice but to learn (from the man sent to kill her, ironically) how to toughen up and fight. Kill. Survive.

Oh come on the original is not that dark a story as other fairytales. You make it sound like it's this epic gritty journey into the bowels of hell or something.
