So, does ANYBODY actually like Ultimatum? ... at all?

Do you actually like Ultimatum?

  • I would rather vomit in a cup and drink it then re-read this mini-series.

  • It's been pretty bad, but I've read worse.

  • I don't care about it either way

  • I actually like it, probably due to missing 65% of my brain mass

As per the deaths, it's more realistic for people to die out of the blue, not everyone gets a big heroic moment to go out on.

Yes, but in comics they should. Every character has a fan. And those fans hang up posters, in their rooms, of their favorite hero.
How would you feel if you loved the Ultimate Wasp, only to see her first appearance in a big story-line, being eaten by the Blob.

I agree. 616/Ultimate crossover would have been as big as a DC vs Marvel event.

Original concepts in comics are overrated, as long as writing , art and production work well.

I know these words but this sentence makes no sense.

Honestly I would plotz (in a good way) because I wouldn't see it coming (and yes I did like Ultimate Wasp so good pick :woot:).

Original concepts and plots in comics are overrated. As long as a comic has good writing, art, and production it will be good.

that help?

not gonna lie, i'll probably buy the trade.

I will but only because I have every Ultimate Marvel trade already. But I think I may cut down on trades, there's just so many titles i like and not enough money lol

I know what you mean. For example, if someone takes a basic idea that's already been done, but does it better, with good writing, art and production, then I'll buy it.

U don't need a completely original idea. And an original idea can still easily end up being horrible.

My local comic shop owner said that the new issue was one of the most offensive comics he's ever read in his life since Ultimates 3.:hehe:

Really? Did he miss the cannibalism from the earlier issues?

If you didn't like this but you actually read it, what the hell is wrong with you? I mean, you should have known it was going to suck by the third issue of Ultimates 3.

I see nothing wrong with flipping through it as long as you don't actually spend money on it, and hence support further terrible decisions by Marvel to continue putting Loeb on writing assignments.

I flip through and also put some good creases in the pages just for fun.

The sad part is that Loeb doesn't always suck. I loved his color collaborations with Tim Sale and the Gambit/Wolverine Victims. I just don't understand what has gone so terribly wrong since then... :(

He's getting old, thats all. All good writers eventually turn to hacks in their old age. Look at Frank Miller for example, he used to make incredible stuff in the 80's and now he's making bull-crap like All Star Batman and Robin. Besides Ultimates 3, ASB&R is probably the worst comic i've ever read.

I happen to like All Star Bats. :p

I was flipping through one of the earlier issues and I saw Mr. Pym bite the Blob's head off.

Um.....what the ****!?!?! Did the editors even read the script?

Finally, another ASBR fan! I like him because it reminds me of the golden/silver age combined with Frank Miller Sin City and Batman Year One/Dark Knight return story. On hand Ultimatum doesn't fell like a story to me but just Jeph Loeb killing characters left and right. I thought Ultimatum would be a more better story combining the events of Ultimate Origins, Ultimate Power, Ultimate 3s and some other stories but most of the Ultimatum tie ins are good with a few bumps. maybe if a better writer like Brian Michal Bendis, Warren Ellis or Mike Millar was doing the story it would be a little better

Speaking of which, are the events of Ultimate Origins gonna come into play at all in Ultimatum???
