Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 1

That gameplay was absolutely....boring.

And dumb. Looks like just SD all over again. So, still not interested.

How come the French always look like they're having difficulty when they speak?

I would be lying if I said that video didn't do anything for me. It actually looks better than expected. I'm...surprised. With Mass Effect 3 being pushed back to 2012, I have 60 bucks with nowhere to go. Dunno if this game is worth it, but I liked Shattered Dimensions and this game looks like an improved version. (graphics, sound, combat, etc.) I'll keep my eye on it.

Whoever came up with the web combat from SD needs to be fired, it was stupid then, its still stupid now. Its great to hear Keaton as spidey tho, he really is the best Spidey voice actor in the business right now. I also like the added emphasis on wall crawling, i guess thats one of the positives of having the game in doors. Other than that, it looks like just a SD expansion pack, which is dull.

I was just wondering when we would get something new on this game. I think it looked good. Saw a few changes here and there, it looked like the walking animation was a bit switched up for example. Looked a bit more varied than SD, but thats to early to tell really. Thought the environments looked a bit bland, but thats just because research facilities in games don't do that much for me. The other locals we've gotten in pictures looks better. But it was like a total of 12 minutes or so gameplay, it's hard to judge a game on that. I think it's especially premature to say it just looks like an expansion considering like every sequel ever would look that way if you just put a short segment up. But it may turn out that way so I won't say anything.

The only web shape I had a problem with in SD was the fist and that seems to be gone, or at least they didn't show it now. So thats a plus for me.

Yea i hate the 'research lab' look. Unless its a decrypt lab the likes found in a Resident Evil, iv never been fond of the 'sterile' look.

Did anyone noticed the multiple paths in the levels? I mean, they were just alternate ways to reach the same place, and some of the doors in the background looks like they may able to be entered through, but the linear parts already looked a bit bigger than SD.

Also, anyone notice how long the free-fall section took? Maybe they are adding more difficulty to those, since only the Hobgoblin ones were any bit of a challenge.

What about Elder Scrolls V: skyrim? Quite possibly the biggest video game ever! :wow:

Okay, so the footage seems to have been taken down. But there are some points I caught during my view of it yesterday.

- It seems to be the same footage that was showcased to the press during the time of the unveiling.
- The camera looked improved, it didn't flip out once as I recall it. And the video had Spider-Man crawling on walls and ceilings, something that would kill the camera in SD.
- It seems like they're focusing a bit more on the cerebral part of the Spider-Men. The dialog gave away some quick thinking, mainly on the robot prototype part. There also seemed to be a bit more problem solving in general, like having to use the decoy to get past lasers in 2099.
- Having both of them remaining in contact with each other is an easy way for them to have character development. It's always easier to show that when you have two characters talking.
- As GameSlyRatchet said, the free fall section was notably longer than the ones in Shattered Dimensions. And it looked like there were multiple paths at some places.
- They showed of a couple of new moves, the decoy move in 2099 and the "dodge everything" move in Amazing. It also looked like Amazing trapped someone in webbing at one point, but considering I can't watch it again I can't really say for sure.

Just a couple of quick thoughts I had about it, some of them may be obvious but whatever.

Another thing worth to note is that Amazing Spider-Man now has several close combat moves that Noir Spider-Man had in SD.

Which looks much better than what classic Spider-Man had imo.

That's great to know. Playing Shattered Dimensions, I always thought they should simply combine all the different gameplay elements into one Spider-Man.

Yeah! I hope they have some stealth stuff in there as well, even though my gut feeling doubts it.

I can't wait 'til we get our first glimpse at a boss battle btw. One of the best things in SD were the boss battles. I think they'll be even better this time with the improved graphics, the more heavy feeling of the combat and all that.

Didn't see that actually, nice catch. I've been wondering if they would do that or not. It makes sense for them to re-use the animations since Noir had some great moves. They obviously can't use Ultimates attacks tho. If they were to focus on a single Spider-Man they would have bounds of different attacks by just putting all of them together.

Hopefully we get some stealth to. Would be stupid of them to just throw out a huge chunk of gameplay that they already got developed.

Yeah I agree. And it would make for some variety and not just beating up goons all the time.

Yup, thats probably the single biggest problem with assigning different gameplay aspects to different characters. You can't vary it up in the same way as if there's only one character with all the abilities, and Shattered Dimensions didn't exactly exceed in this department.

Yeah, not a fan of the web hammer. No one seems to know how to use his webs creatively. It's like anytime Mr Fantastic has been playable in something. His powers always seem to translate to stretchy ***** slapping people

While I'm not particularly bothered by the web shapes, I wouldn't cry if they disappeared. In a game that try to be at least a little serious like EoT seems to be it will break immersion a bit. I'm fine with the heavy attack from SD when Spidey rips up stuff from the ground and starts swinging it around, that looks fine to me. And something like this http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/115/1159370/spider-man-edge-of-time-20110404013628834.jpg from EoT as its more of a lump of webbing than anything else.

I didn't have a problem with the attack where Spidey rips up debris and attacks, but I always disliked the other web shapes (the one where in the air he punches the guy with a Sandman-like spikeball for instance). So I'm disappointed that those are back, but that was nothing unexpected. At least they make the attacks feel much more heavy this time around it seems. And I really like the close attacks.

Is there a link where I can watch the video to see what happens?
