but no one said anything about Green Goblin's costume. You are trying to create an arguement that doesnt exist. You are characterizing people who dont like the new suit as being Raimi fans. My dislike of the silver slippers has nothing to do with my love/hate of the Raimi films and everything to do with my love of Spiderman

Not really. I'm not a big fan of the silver soles as well, I just don't think it's such a big of a deal as some of you guys make it out to be. I've read many posts in the past about SM1 Green Goblin "looking awesome" from some of the same people who constantly bash this suit for not being true to the classic design. It's just strange imo. I agree that Green Goblin is not as iconic as Spidey, of course, but his suit was way more far fetched than this.

To be honest, I had never once heard of Blade til the movie came out. And even then, I didn't realize he was a Marvel character til later.

Same here. Never thought it was a comic book character untill I came here.

The costume matters more than some people want to think. If Spider-Man wore a wife beater and ski-mask but by gollies they got the character perfect...the movie would be terrible.

Spider-Man is one of those heroes who is defined by his costume. There's very little wiggle room where his look is concerned because it's so iconic.

Indeed..Spidey is one who is always instantly recognized.

So is Batman's costume and his trademark logo, yet both were changed completely in his new films, and he grossed a billion bucks and was deemed the best comic book film to date. He did some pretty damn good wiggling, wouldn't you say?

I want the classic suit too, but if you think either of these characters are defined by their costumes, and not their character, you've been reading the wrong damn comic books.

Spidey's still recognizeable to me. Regardless of the changes, it's still Spider-Man.

I remember back to when people called the changes of the look of Ledger's Joker to be pointless. There's changes, but I still see the Joker.

Really? You don't remember his cameo in the 90s Spider-Man animated series? That is why I was so hyped to see Blade. I remember seeing him in the cartoon, then all of a sudden he was going to be in his own film. I remember being so disappointed about my inability to see the film in theaters (I was fifteen at the time, and Blade is rated R).

This.

I've been saying the same thing for ages.

It's no radical change... it's red and blue, has a recognizable spider insignia, webbing design and webshooters... how does it look different to any other incarnation of the Spider-Man suit we've seen in the comics? :\

Spidey's costume is indeed iconic but it's his mask that is the one true defining attribute or at least the aesthetic design of it. Take some random joe off the street and show him a headshot of dead pool and he's swear on the lives on his family and pet pig that it's spider-man. Spidey's mask is as symbolic as superman's s

Yes, looking at the new costume, it still does say "Spider-Man" on it. However, there will always be only one classic and recognizable image of Spider-Man and that's of the classic suit.

Actually, I used to make that mistake all the time as a child. I remember the first time I saw Deadpool all I could think was, "why is Spider-Man carrying a gun? What happened to the web lines??¡!¡??"

^This.

What if Spider-Man changes or upgrades his costume during the movie series like Batman. If that happens I want this costume for 2nd movie

I've noticed the costume seems to be a cross between this one

and this one

^^ I doubt he will, but if he does, I hope it's not the Ben Reially costume. Don't get me wrong, I like the Ben Reilly costume, but if his suit upgrades, it should look like the classic suit.

Something very odd is happening on the Hype tonight. Several posts seem to have disappeared.
