The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" edition

I don't know if this has been posted or not (it probably has, but I'm not about to go through 4 parts of this thread). Anyway, I was watching the series finale of Spider-Man: TAS, and I noticed Spider-Carnage had a really similar suit to the new movie design. I did some more research, and I looked at some of the designs for Spider-Man in the Sensational Spider-Man comicbook that ran in the late 90s. It looks super similar to the new movie design.

Even down to the fingertips, and the stripes on his legs. I actually dig this costume.

Soo, its pretty obvious where they took inspiration from.

Hey guys, I actually work for Sony pictures, and i've got some gossip for you. It turns out the silver shoes were just a red herring, used in the hope that all the obsessive alarmist fanboys out there would kill themselves. Not sure where Sony is going with this strategy, but they keep talking about "Revenge for SM 3" ?

Yeah, dude that’s old news. That costume belonged to Ben Riley, Peter’s clone from the Clone Saga in the mid 90s. He took over for Peter as Spidey for several years.

That being said, there is another short-lived comic series about Peter’s wrestling days. The costume used in that is pretty much this new film suit on paper. There were several pictures here a month or so ago.

Eh, it just looks too clunky, imo. Granted, I'm ecstatic that there ARE web shooters, and I don't hate the design they went with....I just would have liked something slightly more streamlined and not a chewing tobacco container on his arm. Maybe a cross between what they went with and the Raimi shooters that never were.

They aren't too bad. At least they didn't go overboard like the old Nicholas Hammond version of Spider-Man. Those web shooters would even make the Scarlet Spider cringe. As for a streamlined look, I don't know how they would make them look any thinner. We don't even see the cartridge space for the mechanisms. The largest part is the spinneret itself. I suppose it is more aesthetically pleasing to ignore the bulk of a plausible web shooter. They could always go with the nozzle on the underside of the glove a la JRJR.

You miss understand me. I don't like how they separated the arm stripe (which, imo is waaay to thin) from the forearm, nor how the forearm section cas it's own stripes cut out of it.

Ah. Well, that is a different complaint all together. To each his own.

Will my issues with the suit kill the movie for me? No. But we're in the costume thread, so I might as well critique it :)

Indeed you should, sir or madame.

And that is my response.

How would Sony be the ones to enact revenge for SM3?

Revenge on the fanboys who hated SM 3. I'll have to find the blueprints.
