Those really are bug eyes in every sense of the term.

Yeah, I was playing around with the colours a little... I like the second one much more. :)

Same here. The one thing I think of that I prefer from the first picture is the bottom corner of the lens of the eyes. The second one looks a bit weird with the way the bottom of the lens is rounded off, but the rim isn't.

Yep, the thicker frame isn't following the lense outline. I got a little hasty because I wanted to finish it early. :funny:

I'm offering this as constructive criticism of the new costume design itself: I'm not a fan of the web design on the head. It looks fine from a head-on angle, but it looks really awkward otherwise, such as in profile. I think it would have been much better served with a more traditional concentric pattern.

I really dislike the redesigned gloves. They just look bad, from the way the arm stripes suddenly curve before they meet the glove, to the blue fingers, et cetera.

The stripes down the legs really makes the pants look like jogging pants, and the shoes look out of place.

I hate the inconsistent web pattern that turns to just vertical lines in places. It looks unfinished and lazy.

Overall, the changes bother me because they don't look as good as what came before, in my opinion.

You can take this or leave it, it's just what I don't like about the new suit explained as best I can.

You know I agree with everything you wrote. It also bothers me that the "webbing" (more like a grid) pattern on the costume is essentially the same color of the costume (red).

Although that seems to be something they're adding in post production based on the promo pic on the left. I hope it's consistently like that throughout the film because we've gotten one with black lining and the other with none in two promo pics. So I guess that's still up in the air and somewhat sending conflicting messages as to what the final look for the "grid" lining will actually be.

I agree.

The reason the lines are darker in official images is because during shooting everything on the costume is brighter. The 3D camera shoots everything darker so in order to offset the dark tones the 3D camera shoots in, they needed to brighten everything up. Hence how bright the red and blue is here:

Exactly.

And thanks for posting the second image, goddamn I love the new suit...

Right.

All I'm saying is that I hope it looks consistently like that in the actual film and not just for a promo pic for a magazine.

Makes sense.

Agreed.

Here's an official still from the movie next to a promo shot It looks the same except for the fact that the suit in the movie still is dirty from battling:

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Static images aren't the same as one in motion.

I'll wait until we get to see the footage so I can decide for myself. :)

Sorry, but what about putting something in motion would suddenly make the lines disappear...? If they're dark in still images, they'll be dark in moving ones...

Yep. I got that you don't like the new suit. Let's move on before we fall into the whole "I think it's a good design because x", "I don't think it's a good design because x" again.

You have your opinions, I have mine. I will say that I do like the colors (as seen in official images), the effect with the chest spider and the width of the red on the chest is cool, and the face doesn't look too bad from the front.

Godzilla, I know we all have our opinions, and I respect your opinion on the new suit... even if I disagree with you on it. I just don't want other people to jump in and start an argument that we've all seen before.

"THE NEW SUIT SUCKS BECAUSE..."

"NO, THE NEW SUIT IS AWESOME BECAUSE..."

"NO. RAIMI'S WAS BETTER BECAUSE..."

"NO. WEBB'S IS BETTER BECAUSE..."
