The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" - Part 6

Im not sure why silver soles bother everyone so much, yet they were fine with Raimi's ugly silver webbing. And I'm sure we'll barely see Spidey's feet in the movie the way Raimi's ugly webs were onscreen.

Exactly, well said :highfive:

hmm...

Lately I've been really on the edge about the new costume, mainly because of one thing: the side stripes. They look cool from the front but akward from the back. In the game trailer they looked great though, better than in the second trailer! Before I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I finally figured it out: Beenox changed the design! not by much but the stripe is better, it starts from a different place in the belt which makes it work better

see what I mean? Man, I loved the suit before and I really don't wanna hate it now, but the side stripe is really starting to bug me :( it almost looks pointless

Lol, the side stripe doesn't bug me at all.

it didn't bother me either, but this one small part in the trailer haunts me:

I don't really know how that looks bad since I love all the other shots of the costume, but it's just... I dunno, this just looked different from all the other stuff from pictures or even the same trailer. I guess it's that the lines are meant to accent Spidey's pose, but here where it's really close and blurred you can't really tell how spidey is posing and with that it just looks weird when the line stands out of that unclear blurred mess

It's because it's a stupid complaint, along with the silver sole.

a stupid complain? I'm not complaining about the fact that the side stripe is there like haters, I'm just worried since it actually looked bad suddenly

even weirder, when I watch the trailer in apple trailers there the stripe doesn't annoy me, at all  what is happening

Really? I thought it looked fine in all of the shots. It seemed pretty clear that he's got one leg in front of the other and is sort of leaning.

Honestly, the stripe doesn't bother me and it's not something to sweat. It is what it is. There are stylistic differences that give this suit individual identity, but when you look at it, it's Spider-Man through and through.

I dunno, somehow this part just screws with my mind :woot: the stripes really don't bother me anywhere else so I'm not too worried right now. I just hope I don't get to see more shots like that

I do not know why people complaining about the new Spiderman costume. Costume in the second trailer looks fantastic, no one noticed the silver shoes, now they bothered about black lines on the back? I do not know why people are constantly seeking some flaws in the trailer from costume, to night action...

All I can see is dat Spidey ass. :o

Yeah, because no artist ever improves on those original designs.

Some examples would be...
-Wolverine's whiskers
-Batman's purple gloves
-Iceman's snow form
-Green Lantern's Dracula cape

I'm sure I could find more, but I think you get my point.

Agreed.
Speaking as a big Batman fan, even I don't understand why Batman's gloves were originally purple.

Did someone say.....

I mean....the Tick :woot:

I actually liked the silver webbing, and I realize we won't see the shoes that often, but it bothers me because it's a really weird change to me. Spider-Man doesn't need soles with treads and the like. Why "fix" what isn't broken?

You're probably one of the few people who actually thought it was "ugly." I believe the original intent was to better bring out the look of his webbing on camera, and quite frankly it worked. I was not bothered by it, even though I probably would have preferred regular black webbing. The fact that the suit was virtually 100% comic book accurate made up for it. Webb appears to have altered Spider-man's iconic costume for no other reason than for the sake of it, and the changes he's made are not in any way an improvement over the original.

I'd say the changes that Webb has made to the costume serve 2 purposes.

1. Serves the story/a more realistic look to the suit (we know there's a scene where Peter's designing the suit on a computer/gathering materials for it and... well, it doesn't look 100% perfect, but hey, if a kid designed it, I doubt it'd look 100% perfect)

2. Change for the sake of change (BOOOOO! Right? No). It's a movie. It's Webb's interpretation. Let him change the design as he pleases as long as the basic elements of Spidey's classic suit remain.

 Completely agree.

Bingo!

The only thing that bothers me is the incomplete belt. It's soooo close, then it's just like "hell naw". If it's for individual identity, they should have had it gradually grow thinner and go into the front design.

I agree with 2 most definitely. But I don't really think they achieved the point you were trying to make in 1. The suit, like the Raimi suit, doesn't look like something a kid would have made. Not that I care, because I'm not interested in seeing a "realistic" Spider-man suit that a teenager could make himself. Because, let's be honest, even if Pete is a technical genius, the odds are pretty low that he'd be a fabulous costume designer on top of it.

Agreed. If you want to be realistic, you might as well dump the suit entirely, and just give him a generic disguise.

Eh, I think they exaggerated aspects of the costume like the visible shoes just to say "Hey, a kid really did put this thing together from a pair of old track shoes, etc"/accentuate the whole "realistic" route they're going for the costume.

If it was really realistic. It wouldn't be anything like the way it is. lol

Even though I doubted the costume a little before,(I just watched the trailer from apple trailers and it looked beautiful!) I totally agree! But what do you mean exactly with "serves the story"?

if it would've been realistc, Peter would've probably gotten a red wetsuit and some blue wetsuit fabric, then... well you can figure out the rest. That way it woul've been probably a lot easier to do the original design.

But Webb's suit is more like what a teenager in these times would design so that's cool

Oh, I can see that. But yeah, like I said, I think a truly realistic Spider-man costume would be pretty boring haha.
