The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" - Part 6

Even though I doubted the costume a little before,(I just watched the trailer from apple trailers and it looked beautiful!) I totally agree! But what do you mean exactly with "serves the story"?

I just meant like, in the movie when we see Peter get the various materials for his suit, maybe some mesh for the eyes, some track shoes, etc... the suit's look reflects that. My fault for wording it poorly. lol

Maybe when the movie shows how Peter comes up with the idea for the suit and puts it all together by collecting different materials...maybe, people will appreciate the design more. Maybe?? I dunno.

Not really. I still want the classic design, because I think it looks better. But that's just me.

Still, it is recognizable as Spider-Man, and for that I am at least thankful.

I love the new suit more than Raimi's for reasons such as the slimmer fit, the colors, the black, thin webbings and the lenses.

However, it's not perfect. Perfect for me would be the classic design with these colors, slim fit and thin, black webbings and lenses of Webb's suit.

hmm...

Lately I've been really on the edge about the new costume, mainly because of one thing: the side stripes. They look cool from the front but akward from the back. In the game trailer they looked great though, better than in the second trailer! Before I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I finally figured it out: Beenox changed the design! not by much but the stripe is better, it starts from a different place in the belt which makes it work better

see what I mean? Man, I loved the suit before and I really don't wanna hate it now, but the side stripe is really starting to bug me :( it almost looks pointless

I had the same doubts as well, but I took a closer look and there is a continuity of design from the belt, leg stripes and boots area that I think make the leg stripes work. At least, I thought the "belt" and leg stripes were plain red, but there are black lines running down them and they serve that kind of consistency with connecting the red "belt" and the boots together, much like the much-more detailed red arm stripes connects the gloves to the chest area.

My sentiments exactly (although I'd rather have white/reflective lenses).

I often visualize it in my head, and it's ****ing glorious.

It's all about interpretation. If all of us closed our eyes and were asked to imagine Spidey's suit...we'd all have different takes on it. Some would have big eyes, some narrow, some like Webb's design. Would the webbing be black, silver, raised, patterned or uneven, etc, etc?

That's not the problem at all.

Despite the artist after Ditko drawing the suit in their own style they followed the same design and each one looked different in their own way.

This costume would truly be perfect if it had the same colors and materials but had the classic design at hand. Hell even keeping the same lenses and yellow tint would be awesome in my book.

I really hope we get something like this in the next movie that incorporates the design from this one while still turning it into the classic we all know and love.

The colors & material for the new costume are incredible and I'm glad the black grid is more apparent in the film. The yellow lenses are incredible too.

But imagine all those aspects with this design. It would then really be the perfect Spider-Man outfit for me.

There's nothing wrong with evolving from the original design. I love the classic Spidey but there's things that in my own interpretation I like about it and things I would change. Same with the Webb design.

Oh, I can see that. But yeah, like I said, I think a truly realistic Spider-man costume would be pretty boring haha.

Completely agreed.

What would you change about each?

Also, it seems this suit allows more agility and fluidity, judging from the trailer.

Things I like about the Webb suit:

Bright colors
Size & shape of the eyes
Material/fabric of the suit
The overall look of the gloves
Spider on the back

Things I'd change about the Webb suit:

Remove the stripes running down the leg
Add a belt
I'd make the eyes a darker color and no gloss
I'd also add actual black webbing

(Although I'd change those things...they don't ruin the suit for me)

And the classic design?

I'd use the materials and colours of mark webb's suit but in the classic design of spidey.

I would:

- Keep the grid style webbing and keep the webbing thin, black and raised like it is on Webb's suit

- Slightly bigger eyes that are white

- Complete glove and boot design, no blue breaking it up

- Keep the longer segmented symbol on the front and make the back symbol thicker

EDIT: Oh... and I'd keep the texture/material of Webb's suit.

I'd keep the colors & material along with the lenses and yellow tint but would go back to the Ditko design when it comes to the belt and the top back portion of the design. I'd also get rid of all the useless line kibble.

The asics would be scrapped for a unison boot design like the picture I posted above (the same goes for the gloves). The webbing pattern would actually look like webs and I'd get rid of the grid pattern but keep the black color of it. The webshooters mechanism I like so I'd keep that as well.

Make the Spider emblem in both the front and back smaller. With those changes we'd probably have a damn great Spider-Man costume.

It covers almost his entire back & torso. I wouldn't call that small.

The legs on both the back and front don't need to be that long either.

I'd say the changes that Webb has made to the costume serve 2 purposes.

1. Serves the story/a more realistic look to the suit (we know there's a scene where Peter's designing the suit on a computer/gathering materials for it and... well, it doesn't look 100% perfect, but hey, if a kid designed it, I doubt it'd look 100% perfect)

2. Change for the sake of change (BOOOOO! Right? No). It's a movie. It's Webb's interpretation. Let him change the design as he pleases as long as the basic elements of Spidey's classic suit remain.

1. How is the suit anymore realistic than Raimi's version? It's not.

2. It seems to me, that changing something because you felt like changing it, is pretty much the definition of change for it's own sake.

Why would you do that? Granted, I'm not complaining about how the webbing looks on Webb's, but if we had the chance to change that, why would you KEEP it?

The costume looks good with it. So why not?
