Star Trek Beyond - Part 1

This doesn't worry me.

As you know, reshoots are common and since Aghdashloo is playing the head of the Federation she might only have one or two scenes. Or they've decided to add her to a preexisting scene. It's probably some conference scene or Kirk having a conversation with her.
Not to mention that Marvel reshoots everything that they do.
Did those reshoots lead to any bombs?
No.

Some people are crying foul over the reshoots because Into Darkness rubbed them the wrong way and they want this movie to fail.

It goes farther back than STID.

Saw the trailer again when I went to see 10 Cloverfield Lane the other day. I had completely forgotten its existence.

They really need to release a better trailer soon. That one just makes it look like Fast & Furious in space.

Given that the last one earned upwards of a billion, that may have been a deliberate choice.

I also liked STID, and also agree that they need to do a better job of promoting this

This looks like the year where a Star Trek film grosses more than a Ghostbusters film.

All Films Adjusted For Inflation - Domestic Box Office

June 1, 1984 - Star Trek III: The Search for Spock $198,005,400
June 8, 1984 - Ghostbusters $619,211,40

June 9, 1989, - Star Trek V: The Final Frontier $114,415,000
June 16, 1989 - Ghostbusters II $246,525,000

July 15, 2016 - Ghostbusters (Bridesmaids $182,856,500)
July 22, 2016 - Star Trek Beyond (Star Trek Into Darkness $237,514,800)

What are the odds that over 32 years, 2 film franchises open 3 films in a span of 7 days?

Pirates of the Caribbean 1 (2003) and 5 opened/will open before Bad Boys II and Bad Boys III (2017).

No one would be mentioning fast and furious if it wasn't Lin s name attached. It's a silly comparison.

Pretty much nil considering bridesmades isn't a ghost busters film.

Agreed. Its not a good teaser, but it doesnt have anything in common with F&F.

It was just showing what Paul Feig's best performing film at the box office was. Can marketing and nostalgia carry Ghostbusters to $240 million to be edge out Star Trek Beyond?

So the bike jump, loud music and ludicrous stunts didn't happen? Thank God, I guess I just imagined all of that.

A lot of the music that is featured in trailers usually is not the final film.

For example, Two Steps From Hell's "Freedom Fighters" was unfortunately not in the 09 film.

I think it would be cool if the movie had a time travel story. Like The City on the Edge of Forever.

Wow. They really need to release the 2nd trailer for this. Some movies are on their 3rd at this point.

Leonard Nimoy’s Passing Will Be Acknowledged in Star Trek Beyond

TrekCore is reporting that Star Trek Beyond will acknowledge the death of Leonard Nimoy in some way. Nimoy of course reprised his role as Spock for 2009’s Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness.

In the universe of the new Star Trek movies there are two Spocks, the younger Spock on the Enterprise and the older Spock helping to establish a new Vulcan home world. This means Spock will still be on the bridge of the Enterprise, but some sort of acknowledgement of the passing of the older Spock will also be made.

Justin Lin said:
“It’s something you’ll see in the film. It obviously affected everybody, because he’s been a big part of our lives. There’s an attempt to acknowledge that in some way.”

That's cool to honor him

I don't know. I liked the trailer, it didn't bother me at all. Im not even a fan of the Beastie Boys but it wasn't that random of a choice to me due to it being in 09.

ANd I feel like by now fans should know that this new universe is way more action-y then Star Trek used to be on TV so I dont know why act so surprised.

But I say this as someone who isn't that big of a ST fan.

I do agree that they should release a new trailer ASAP after the fan blowback.

Surely we should we be getting a full trailer for this soon? Like next month at the latest? Especially since the teaser wasn't overly well received...
