On a side note, I'm liking Pine's hair in this one. Looks more Kirk-like, lol.

Saw this comment earlier and I'm inclined to agree, who hit the release all trailers button in Hollywood?

I think we are seeing the Alt-verse Borg. The original concept for the Borg was they were supposed to be insect like but that was too expensive for TV and they settled on the less expensive cyborg zombie...but kept the hive mind idea from the insect idea

I guess studios are trying to get the trailers to all their big films to show with Star Wars.

Everybody wants to get a chance at attachment to Star Wars showings, I'd assume.

Everything we've seen in the past few weeks will be in front of Star Wars....BvS, CW, STB, ID4 2, TMNT 2, XA....

Honestly this looks like it could redeem the series after STID let me down big time.

I got $10 that says Vin Diesel makes a cameo as an alien somewhere.

Still its like trailer overload. I love it but damn give my brain time to reset. Haha

What are you gonna do in the theater...when you are seeing all of them before Star Wars?

You're gonna blackout in the theater before Star Wars even starts. ;)

Eh, the trailer adequate. I did think the McCoy and Spock bit was funny. I agree the look of the planet and aliens does remind me of STNG show and films. I still prefer BvS, CACW, and TMNT2 while XMA and STB are just okay imo.

Since there's no hint of what's the story about I should suspend my opinion on the whole thing... but from what they've presented to us I say... Sure, yeah, ok, you can shoot great action sequences with awesome cgi but that's THE ****ING LAST THING I CARE ABOUT IN THE STAR TREK FILM!!!

ST09 was not some too-thoughtful film, but I felt it was great adventurous intro into this new reboot of the franchise with alternative time-line. Then came STID the worst ST film yet, that stole every important thing in it from the previous time-line, yea, good job with the whole idea, and the script was so dumb it hurt, even Nero was more Khanish than Khan... And now this trailer... Until there's some confirmation this film has some deep thoughts in it, profound dialogues, story and characters, etc. I have to say: Please let it die or bright something that's worthy of the Star Trek title. This stupid pew pew in space is killing me.

Probably the funniest comment on YT: "If Gene Roddenberry was alive he'd probably die while watching this."

Is it me or does it look...I don't wanna say low budget...but very contained? It has no spacious wide shots of JJ's efforts. And the scenes of other creatures and their world look tacky.

Actually Roddenberry hated Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country....the two best movies in the series.

the budget for ST 2 was huge and while it made a lot of money they expected a lot MORE.

since this is the third movie the paychecks for all the actors raised which means that they had to save money everywhere else.

A friend of mine commented that Gene Roddenberry is rolling over in his grave at this trailer, and noted that it looks more like GotG than Star Trek. My response:

This is utter heresy I know, but I'm really not that big a fan of Roddenberry's vision, which always struck me as a preachy and a bit pretentious. (And I am a literal child of the late 60s'/early 70s.) Do I like GotG better than Roddenberry's Star Trek? Yup. Way more in fact. So to see something like this is actually much more what I have always wanted from Star Trek. I'll love this movie.

Also keep in mind this is the first trailer

They just want to show off the action. The next trailer should hypothetically show more story. And hopefully the story is one story and not multiple stories that go unresolved or end anticlimactically or both.

I was thinking the same thing Tacit. It certainly does look like the old tv sets from the different Star Trek shows as opposed to the epic scope of JJ. Maybe that's what they're trying to go for visually, but yeah, it definitely screams lower budget.

I'm not worried about it being lower budget. Sometimes less is more.
