Like a boss?

They really were able to make him have a glorious death in the expanded universe, but in the movie it was han solo accidentally hiting him and him rolling in the sand until that beast's mouth

Well Return Of The Jedi can probably be edited pretty ****ing good :o
Yeah I mean we don't need the first 45 minutes of them rescuing Han, or the 10 minutes that Luke has with Yoda and Obi-Wan or the 10-15 minutes discussing the attack on the Death Star, or the 20 minutes of landing on Endor and gaining the Ewok's trust, and the whole rest of the movie with the attack of the Shield Generator, Luke vs. Vader and the Emperor and the Death Star attack.

They have Star Wars voice and vehicle additions for certain Garmin navigational products. Mine is too old. :down :(

Lol, love this!

:/ I wouldn't get rid of the Ewoks at all. I think they're awesome. I proudly display three little Lego Ewoks on my desk.
Whoever doesnt love ewoks after this scene has no heart :csad:

I don't often feel bad watching a film, but I always dread that scene. Just want to give that little guy a hug. : (

I don't hate the Ewoks, lol, I like them, it's just...not in this movie, not the trilogy climax, and in that way. The first two films were a great blend of magic and sci-fi military campaign, and then it suddenly turns into planet of the care bears 2000BC, which, y'know, lol, has it's appeal, but not here.

It just becomes a movie where I can no longer slip into that same level of total immersion, which is the great thing about anh and esb. Sure, I could when I was a kid, but nowadays watching the Ewoks take down the supposedly crack Stormtrooper squads...well, to buy that stuff, I would have had to have seen some real crazy ass gurellia moves from those lil hairballs. Not just some cute-sy pie set pieces, man, y'know, I'm thinking back to some of that stuff, and a smile comes on my face, the two wee ewoks, waving at each other after they have swung those logs into the Scout Walker/At-St.
But, aye, it is just such a step down in quality in terms of the sci-fi military action we saw in the first two films. I'd say ANH and ESB were both 5/5 movies and ROTJ was a 3/5er.

and yeah, the little Ewok death scene really works, it is really frickin sad.

The space battle is fantastic, but you can't settle into it as well as the one in ANH, due to the cross cutting nature of the 3 climactic sequences. We all know the story of the cinema theatre crowd who almost started a riot cause they thought the cinema had mixed up the reels for the climax.
The edit of the scenes does work though, it flips from 5/5(space battle) action to 4/5(vader and luke) to 3/5(ewoks) though. Better than the end of TPM which flips from 1/5 to 1/5, to 5/5, lol, I always skip those Gungan battles scenes and space scenes.

Makes me even sadder Yub Nub was taken out of ROTJ

I remember debating this a while ago at length with folk, I have changed my opinion a little since then, as I can see their point about the end celebration being a bit too Ewok focused due to the that final celebratory song, whereas it should be more along the lines of celebrating the end of the whole war, not just this final battle, encompassing the whole trilogy.

But, damn, it is a fantastic piece of celebratory music, the Ewoks not only know how to throw a party, but how to put great a band together.
I have come to appreciate the new music, although i don't think it matches up to some of the images now, it doesn't feel like that is what they are dancing to, or playing along on the drums to(ie Stormtrooper helmets), and that's not just because I was so used to Yub nub being there, it just feels a little out of time to the dancing and drum playing.

I do like the added images of the celebrating planets though.

What I do watching Jedi is watch the original cut up until Boushh hands over Chewie, then i switch over to the SE disc for Leia freeing Han, and watch the rest of the movie SE. I'm not gonna switch over for Yub Nub, and ruin the flow of the movie ending with more disc switching.
But, damn, I cannot bear to watch that CG band they put in the SE of Jabba's party. On the commentary they tell you that the original tune for Sly Snootles and the Rebo band was written by a female punk rocker, and that is exactly what it sounds like, a really cool, simple rockin punk tune, which i think suits the down and dirty feel of Jabba's court much better.
So, it's not just avoiding the CG alien with the massive cartoon tongue and tonsils, complete with dangling slabber, lol.
I know he wanted to have a fuller band in there , and didn't like the Sly Snootle puppet, but I think the puppet looks better than the CGI characters, and the music is better in the original, even apart from it being more in tune with the visuals.

I ****ing cannot stand those added bits of Boba Fett flirting with the backing singers in the band either. There is dialogue in the comic adaptation that basically tells you that Fett is keeping a close eye on Boushh in that scene, you would think so too, being the new competition in town.
And apart from that, it is wonky that he walks away from his standing spot, flirts, and then gets back to the exact same spot!...just in time to flip out his gun when the thermal detanator is brought out.

i have talked about this before, sorry if it sounds like I am moaning, lol, but i do think it is interesting to discuss these kinds of creative changes, and why you feel they do and don't work.
The SW SE films are great for that, if i ran an art or film class, i would lead the class in discussions about the SE changes, as they are good examples of how what you would think were minor alterations, can drastically alter a film scene's dramatic effect. I mean, this can apply to all forms of art.

ugh...the Boba flirting just feels so out of place in the sequence, a visual eye sore IMO, I love how you described it though, he walks away to flirt but walks back in time to point his blaster at Boush...Myself I enjoy the SE's too, but that ending scene with the new music like you kind of described, its a good piece of music, but it doesn't match/mesh with the celebration IMO......and I'm sorry, I just have childhood memories of ROTJ (and all the films in general) and I really always loved the Ewok sing-a-long...

Ideally I'd want Yub Nub at the end, but still keep the additonal scenes of the celebrations on the other planets too.

I mean, one day when I get ahold of some high tech equipment, I will do my own edits of little things like that, add in the original Jabba band to the remastered SE footage, overdub yub nub, put Boba Fett's original voice back in to ESB(the only change that annoys me in the ESB SE, all the other changes *are* improvemnets for once imo), remove his crappy flirting, lol.

I wouldn't want to do any kind of drastic changes to the films like that guy Adywan, just tidy up some parts that suffer due to changes imo.

I'd do the same with some other movies that have two versions, make my ideal cut that lies somewhere between the two, Daredevil and Apocalyse Now being others. I'd add Wolverine's full on scream when he attacks the fridge that they cut away from in X-Men 2 as well, that you get in the deleted scenes.

Indeed I am a jellyfish.
8wid... you're breaking my heart! You're going down a path i cant follow!

:oldrazz:

I must say, i also love yub yub and do miss it, but i do like the added celebration through the galaxy. A heck, i need to hear it now. I love the crazy ewok laugh at the start.

Watching that just reminded me of a really funny discussion on a SW board a while ago: the fireworks we see. Some debated it came out of the X-Wings while others said they just came from someone in the forest. That must have been a boring day with nothing else to discuss lol

I never had a problem with the Ewoks. I saw ROTJ on opening day, which was a month before I turned 9. Back then, I thought they were so cool. When I saw it the second time, it was with a whole group of kids, and we loved the freakin' Ewoks. Especially the one who took off on the speeder bike. :funny:

And I still like the Ewoks. I have no post-childhood bitterness when it comes to Ewoks, or ROTJ, for that matter. It's still an awesome movie.

Agreed Jen ^^^^

:lmao: not a single one, actually :oldrazz:. I'll worry about the blu-ray once i have it in my hands. I'm hoping for the best and bracing for the worse. If they havent fixed some of the glitches it shall be 10 more years of ranting and complaining at the very least. It shall be the SE all over again... oh my god, i dont think i can handle it! :waa:

They must all be passed out from geekgasms and haven't had time to propose. :D The fact they are already refusing to put the original theatrical versions as part of the set is bad enough, then not having the deleted scenes restored fully as well as an option to add them back in is annoying, if the glitches are still there as well.....:(

Whoever doesnt love ewoks after this scene has no heart :csad:

That scene gets me every time, the little bit of the score fits so perfectly. :csad:

The final space battle in ROTJ is one of my favorite scenes in all of the Star Wars movies. I think it still holds it own against anything that's come out since. It has definitely stood the test of time.

Add to that the fight between Luke and Vadar and it's just incredible to watch. Still love the ending of that movie.

Hunter: dont give the fan ideas to complain about! :cmad: :oldrazz:

Yeah, that one's pretty cool.

I actually like the new Celebration song over the Ewok Celebration song. Maybe because it's more solemn?

But I do use the Ewok Celebration song as a ringtone for my fiance.

Sorry. :( I suppose it was too much to hope that Lucas had an alternate Boba Fett vs Han fight to cut in to these versions. :woot:

Okay, this bit gets to me. I'm not as huge of a fan of them as I once was, but goddamn you if you don't think these are cute and you just want to give them a great big hug after this. It makes me teary eyed thinking of this scene.

I mean why would you want to kill one? Kill next to the work Ewok doesn't compute. That image looks unnatural. I want to unsee it.

I love that one.

However, Sideshow and Gentle Giant are usually the most expensive in terms of statues. Unless you get a good deal from Ebay.

But if you are looking for something less expensive look into the Kotobukiya line.

I have this one myself.
