Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

Vader may be "weak" but he's insanely powerful. There's a difference... Yeah, he'll stand by Sidious but he's constantly planning on killing him... even when he first became Darth Vader.

In Vaders mind the end justify the means. He will be the Emperors dog as long as he has to if it helps him complete his goal. Doesn't change the fact that he's a walking midichlorian.

Like I said, hopefully we find out that Vader let himself be captured because if Starkiller brings Vader to his knees its less of an impact when Luke finally does it.

This, for all intents and purposes.

It's just annoying that, in the last decade or so of various projects, the folks running the show have almost completely destroyed a pretty bad ass villain and turned him into a joke.

Sure it is. You have two jedi, and two sith. 2 and 2 equals 4. 4 is an even number, another word for even, balanced.

Except the 2 Sith are in near total control of the galaxy whilst the 2 Jedi are living in a state of hermitage at the very edges of the galaxy. The period that the Empire was in power was characterized by tyranny and oppression, the ideology of the Dark Side was dominant. Domination does not = balance, which is why it only lasted for a mere 20 years.

Theres still 2 sith and 2 jedi. Thats still a form of balance.

I dont think he's been turned into a joke. I think its neat we are just "discovering" this other character that was potentially even more powerful than Vader or the Emperor. Why cant Galen Marek be more powerful than Darth Vader? I cant stress this enough, its a piece of fiction.

Wow, so Galen really is powerful, i mean he's kicking the "chosen ones" ass. Galen is awesome.

Which is why people get all upset about Vader's portrayal in the game(s).

I just play the games for what they're worth and "forget" that they're technically canon.

Haha i just don't understand why ppl get upset. Who cares if Vader isnt as powerful as ppl once thought or that someone, who we didnt hear about in the films was stronger. Does it really detract from those films?

They should just do what you do and "pretend" those games didnt happen and go back and just watch the films.

Except the only two people using or channeling the dark side of the force were Vader and Sidious. Just like the only two people controlling or using the Light side of the force were Yoda and Kenobi.

It doesn't matter if the sith are in power, making life a living hell for the galaxy. They're not spreading their teachings to others. They're not training people in the arts of the force.

Balance. Not to the Universe. But to the force.

Except the Force flows through all things, not just the Jedi and Sith who are simply able to manipulate and control it. That more people are living in fear and pain means the Dark Side holds greater sway over the universe. The prophecy is that Anakin would bring balance to the force, but there was not a balance during the reign of the Empire, the widespread misery that they inflicted led to a strengthening of the Dark Side.

And to be fair there were more Jedi and Sith running around than Obi/Vader/Yoda/Emperor, unless you want to exclude EU.

It's the easiest way to go about it if you're a big fan of the franchise. I've been into the Star Wars EU for ages (the novels, etc.)... and boy, some of it is downright awful stuff. Inevitably winds up in the "pretend it didn't happen" pile. :woot:

Missing the point here?

It's pretty easy to go "oh, just ignore it" when it's not something that you truly care for. We've watched those movies and we loved them. What we want is more of that and less of this. Why should we care about it less than people around here care about their Batman and their Spiderman?

Sure, we could all be worrying about bigger stuff like AIDS and world hunger, so that instantly takes our right to want good stuff, right? "Eat what you have because it could be worse", right? I call ********.

Arguments like "it's just fiction" get thrown around here alot. Well, thank you, everything is fiction on Star Wars! There's good fiction and bad fiction tho.

"It's just fiction" is an awful attempt at countering what is, in fact, a basic rule of good writing:

While fiction is (by definition) a story that isn't true, it still must adhere to certain basic rules. You're free to create any universe you want, but once you've done it, you must stick to its internal logic. If you create a universe in which zurts are green and fly and jurts are blue and don't fly, you cannot willy-nilly switch these "facts" around, even if they are totally products of your imagination. And if for some reason in your story we see a blue jurt that is flying, you'd better have a good narrative explanation for why or else you've confused the reader.

You see, this is exactly what keeps happening with this franchise. It's own internal rules keep getting changed and that, my friends, is what we call bad fiction.

I've always taken the balance thing to be metaphorical. As in, removing the darkness with the light. It's the only way George Lucas' above quote about Luke being the catalyst for Anakin to bring about the balance makes sense.

I just finished the game and I thought it was good overall. Few problems I had though:

1) the game was entirely too short and with no multiplayer to compensate and only challenges it makes the price Tag a bit steep to purchase day one. I mean they could have went deeper and gave us more levels and maybe show starkiller hunting down more Jedi before going to Kota.

2) the camera work was ok at best and the jumping mechanics suck and this game felt kinda rushed and also like the makers got halfway through and thought now what.

I hope a third one gets made and that they put more effort then 5 hours of gameplay

Dude wooosaaaa it's just a video game, when George Lucas says it's ok it's ok. George pretty much gave it his stamp of approval when he made it canon. With the prequels and eu I thought star wars fan would be use to rewriting what they grew up to know was true. The saga has to continue and the only way it continues is with new life injected into it. The force unleashed and the clone wars are the star wars for the new generation of fans. In the immortal words of Riley from the boondocks you either gonna laydown or getdown. There is no other choice for fans because the money train is continuing to roll.

What is it about videogames that makes them somewhat of an inferior thing? As of now, they're just as much as a valid art form as a book or a movie in terms of entertainment value (albeit different). Just because the creator of it said it was ok, doesn't mean that it will make any sense or it will instantly be good. Read what I said about fiction and it's basic rules.

Used to? Yes. Do we like it? No.

I agree it has to continue but there's no way stated that it has to be bad to get a new life injected into it. It's all about how you handle it.

Sadly, that doesn't make anything I've said any different. It's still bad fiction, even if it gives you tons of money.

I finished the game in 2 sessions. Very surprised at how short it was.

Pretty fun, a few repetitive spots were annoying but overall I enjoyed it. Enjoyed the final battle and really thought the boss fights were much more epic than the first one.

I hope there's a 3rd one.

So ignore it. I do the same, as I've admitted to here a number of times - and it works.

If we've learned one thing, it's that the money train will always trump good fiction on the priority list (unless you get some of the very rare and special artists around that are still concerned about good fiction - and, of course, their work often fails and has to resort to "cult" status because it got run over by the money train).

So just let stuff like this go. Whether it be a bad movie or a book or a comic or a game or whatever. Comic fans "ignore" old and terrible plot arcs all the time - hell, companies use retcons to eliminate them.

Finished the game. Very short but I enjoyed the story. Would have liked to see more varied levels and I missed the jedi vs jedi saber fights from game one, but all in all it's a good game. I look forward to DLC.

Yea they really blew it with the saber v saber combat. It wasnt that good in the last game and they made it even worse here.

I still say the best jedi combat system was episode 3 game for ps2 in 2005. the fighting mechanics were awesome and the lightsabers actually connected and blocked and all. I wish they would rerelease that and battelfront 1 on the psn with updated graphics.

In the databank for the Timira cloning facility. There is a reference to a comander Cody in charge of the troops on kamino.
