Hmm, a somewhat unpopular reaction to Slender Man.

Okay! Next up, get your Chucks on and wrap a flannel shirt round your waist cuz we're going back to the 90s:

I got a feeling you asked about this pokemon before

Did I? I'm pretty sure I haven't.

Just did a brief search, and I couldn't find anything.

The Maxx
Never could get into the Maxx. Didn't read the comics, but I did use to watch the animated shorts on " Liquid TV" on MTV back in the day, but couldn't understand what was going on.

Don't know much about The Maxx. Doesn't look terribly appealing.

I watched that series in pretty much a single night back in college. Cant says I entirely understood what was going on either... It still managed to be awesome though.

I'm pretty interested in Scud.

I've seen him around for a while, but listen to the Wiki description:

Scud: The Disposable Assassin (published from 1994 to 1998, and 2008) is a humorous, hyperkinetic science fiction comic by Rob Schrab about a world in which one can buy robot assassins out of vending machines, the most popular of which are intelligent robots that kill a specified target and then self-destruct.
The protagonist of the series is Scud, an average Heart Breaker Series 1373 model assassin. On his first mission, he is sent to kill Jeff, a rampaging female mutant with mousetraps for hands, an electrical plug for a head, and a squid for a belt.

During his first mission, Scud glances in a mirror and sees the warning label on his back explaining how he will self-destruct upon completion of his mission. Realizing that he doesn't want to die, Scud mortally wounds Jeff, shooting off her arms and legs, then takes her to a hospital placing her on life support ensuring their mutual survival.[1]
Scud: TDA's main plot follows Scud's career as a freelance mercenary and assassin, working to pay off Jeff's medical bills.

With a synopsis like that, it's gotta be worth a look right?

yeah, there's a definite similarity there. Whatever happened Fido Dido anyway?

Scud was pretty cool. Haven't read anything with him in it since the 90's though.

Mmmkay, so it's been a while since I've done a "theme" here, I think it might be interesting to temporarily expand this thread's parameters a bit and focus on non-Marvel/DC books, as opposed to just characters.

Tonight's:

Maus

Great story. One of those comics that elevates the genre.

Yeah, I've heard it's incredible.
I've sorta deliberately put off checking it out, just so I know I'll have something that'll be good to read when I run out of "classic, genre-defining" masterpieces.

It's my "In case of emergency, break glass" book, if that makes sense.

Maus isnt a comic book....... IT'S A FREAKIN "WAR AND PEACE NOVEL!"
anybody that ever thinks comics are for kids and &^% just let them read that (but people who think comics are for kids only probably cant read!:woot:)
THAT *&^^ IS AWESOME!! ON 1984 George Orwell AWESOME!!

That was good. I liked it.

One messed up STD.

Also, that chick with the tail was hot. :o

Yeah, agreed on all counts. This book was cool, and Charles Burns artwork is just unreal...

Why are the eyes covered with red tape?
Man, those are too many comic book characters I never heard of

Black Hole isn't a character so much as it's a story.

Like Maus.

It's about a nasty STD that's going through a small midwestern town in the 70's that kinda mutates whoever gets it. It's different for everybody. Some can pass, most are so f**ked up they end up livin' in the woods. Basically like the X-Men minus the creepy bald guy, the melodrama, the super fights, and snazzy costumes.

I only saw the movie Persepolis. Pretty good.

Same with From Hell. I liked it. I heard that if I had read the book I probably wouldn't.....I've chosen to go with willful ignorance on this one. :o
