Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer - Part 2

WB's 2018 slate is full, so a 2019 release date is more likely to happen and potentially in the summer.

September has had a fair number of successes with Hotel Transylvania 1 and 2, Sully last year and even more moderate hits like The Equalizer and both Maze Runner films. But big opening are rare as it's considered a dead month at the box office.

I suspect if Annabelle Creation wasn't schedule for August, It would have been scheduled there.

Studios always needed a month to unload garbage movies but like October it continues to get bigger films scheduled throughout it.

Ninjago and Kingsman: The Golden Circle could've set the new September opening weekend record but it looks like It will beat them to it.

and next September already has

The Equalizer 2, Goosebumps 2, Scooby Doo and A Star is Born.

Looking like it now. The thirst is apparently very real...

Those view figures are ridiculous, dwarfing everything that's come before it.

You can bet your ass that if this performs, we'll be seeing a full blown Stephen King cinematic universe, with The Dark Tower movies at its centre, if that movie does well too.

I'm legitimately more excited about IT now than most other films this year, partly for its own potential success, and partly for the wider picture. King's been constructing a shared universe long before the concept became popular.

Hulu picked the right time to order Castle Rock.

I've been trying to figure out what Georgie muttering "You'll float too" repeatedly at the end of the teaser reminded me of, and I just figured it out...

I think Goosebumps 2 will move to October or January 2019, it'll wither against Scooby Doo. A Star is Born should do okay although if it's really good, I could see WB moving it to December as a limited release before a wide January release for awards purposes

The trailer wasn't as good as the one for the mini-series.

If WB greenlights IT Part 2, they'll likely slate it for September 13, 2019. Horror films tend to break out on Friday the 13th.

I think if the buzz and reviews are great for this movie, IT will surely break the September opening record with at least $50M-$60M.

Makes me ask... Why hasn't Lynch ever adapted a King work?

I feel like that would probably work out loads better than Lynch adapting something like Dune, but all things considered, Lynch is best off doing Lynch.

I saw the original when I was a kid, and it's the reason why I'm still "scared" of clowns. It's the same thing with Childs Play.
This trailer was legit scary and I seriously wanna see the new movie, but I also don't want to :oldrazz:

I was a teenager when the original TV miniseries version of IT came out. I thought it was pretty good, with some genuinely creepy parts.

I read the original book in pdf format a couple of years ago, and it was much better, explaining a lot more than the miniseries could. But that's to be expected.

For the most part I like the trailer for the new movie. I'm still unsure of the new Pennywise though. Every scene in the trailer he seems to be "trying" to be scary, even in his initial meeting with Georgie. The whole point behind Pennywise appearing as a clown is to lure children to him so that he could attack. Tim Curry did that beautifully in the original, both in the scene with Georgie, and in the scene right in the beginning with the little girl with the freckles all over her face. You only see Pennywise in the storm drain for a second in the new trailer, but he already has that "evil clown" expression on his face.

I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like the new Pennywise might be a failure right out of the gate.

I sympathise with them with the Clown, the mini series version looks too fluffy and this new one probably does look a bit too creepy in some ways. I guess it's a fine line, how do you get it right?

i wonder how high the Budget is because the movie has not a single Huge Movie Star which is not bad at all and because of the traffic world record i have no daubt IT will go well at the Boxoffice

Yeah I think they're gonna make a ton of money back.

Yeah i Asume the Budget is not Higher as 30 Million or Less and if the movie will made 100 -150 global WB makes more as enough money

I thought the trailer looked fantastic. It really gave off exactly the right vibe and has really raised my hopes and expectations for this film.

People going on and on about Pennywise's appearance really need to tone it down. Tim Curry looked jolly and unthreatening until he attacked, but this didn't actually work on any of It's victims. Georgie kept banging on about his boat and having to get home rather than being all like "wow, a clown! I want a balloon and to see the circus!" and the little girl from the opening might've been amused by Pennywise, but It instantly attacked her. If It had lured her across the street or away from her home then maybe I would buy the "clown as a lure" idea but It didn't; It appeared in her garden and ate her, end of.

It's clown guise doesn't actually work in the book at all either, to be honest. Georgie is more interest in getting his boat back than getting a balloon, even though he does marvel at its supernatural abilities. The clown guise also doesn't work on any of the Losers Club; in fact, It hardly attacks or appears to them as a clown at all and usually quickly becomes something else (the Werewolf, the Mummy, etc). There's even a part in the book where Pennywise is handing balloons out to children and a baby cries at the sight of It, so the whole argument that he is "trying too hard" or too obviously scary looking is pointless to me.

The film is clearly going for a specific aesthetic designed to appear unsettling, creepy, and terrifying, and Pennywise's appearance reflects that. I am hoping the film is full of lingering, creepy shots and intense horrific scenes like the trailer showcased.

In fact, the only issue I have with the trailer is that Pennywise apparently attacks Bill in that flooded basement; how the hell is Bill gonna get out of that!

I think Mike Meyers would have made a great Pennywise. #4real.

I'm tired of the argument that this Pennywise is "too creepy" and needs to be more "friendlier" in order to lure children in. The only child I can recall that was lured in was Georgie. And part of that was because the kid was as dumb as rocks.

Georgie was a sweet, cute, innocent child and that's where our fear for what happens to him comes into play. But the very simple fact this kid isn't terrified of a strange man lurking in the sewers, dressed as a freakin' clown for goodness sakes, shows how dumb the kid is and that's where we subconsciously pity his death the most.

All in all, what kid wouldn't be scared of a strange clown person approaching them? Pennywise luring kids in is more of an excuse for him to toy and taunt and tease his victims before killing them outright. He could kill any child at any time if he wanted to, including Georgie. That whole scene with him isn't Pennywise trying to overcome some obstacle in his way to get to Georgie...he's literally just playing with his food before he eats it.

It makes more sense in the book where he only sees his eyes and mistakes them for a cat. Even then he's unnerved when Bob Gray reveals himself.

Yeah, filling the kids with terror is like salting the meat to It/Pennywise, at least in the novel.
