The level of interest this has sparked has to be making WB/New Line consider fast-tracking Part 2.

It's something they definitely need to consider. Because this is a 2 part and providing part 1 is good they need to capitalize on it. If peoplelikethis film, they will want the rest of the story as quickly as possible. Fast tracking it and getting it out by Q4 2018 would do that.

They don't need to have both parts a year apart, two years would be fine.

These aren't films that need a long gestation period. Part 1 filmed from June to September 2016 and is being released in September 2017. If they fast track Part 2 they could film June to September 2017 and release in September 2018. Part 2 would have the same production time as Part 1.

Guess it depends on if they have anything written for Part 2.

This thing could pull a Deadpool and be such a surprise hit, even it's biggest fans couldn't have expected it.

They have to keep the great marketing on point.

It's Warner Bros, marketing is their greatest strength. I wouldn't be surprised if It features at Comic Con,

They really should fast track part 2 for release next Halloween to keep the hype going.

I think the level of interest is high because we haven't gotten a good horror movie in a while. They've turned horror movies into action flicks.

I totally called Deadpool but few here believed it could climb that high. :hehe: With IT, I definitely think very few saw this coming. I certainly didn't but it's refreshing to see nonetheless.

I'm genuinely shocked by this. I had no clue IT was this anticipated.

There is a huge population of people out there with a clown fetish. Its why Suicide Squad made so much money despite the bad reviews.:o

All of my friends are talking about it on Facebook.

I think Fukunaga & Chase Palmer already penned a draft for the second film back when Fukunaga was still slated to direct them. WB/New Line can easily fast-track the second film, provided Muschietti returns.

But that teaser trailer... looks really spooky. This Pennywise is just as scary as Tim Curry.

I really hope this prompts them to fast track production to part 2. The hype of the trailer alone as to assure them that It will make money.

I would imagine that was probably always their plan.

It can't be that expensive a movie, all things considered.

What's the highest grossing horror movie of all-time?

Sixth Sense. Though that's not really a horror movie. The Exorcist is still the biggest 'real' horror movie in terms of gross. I think it's around 450 million adjusted. I wouldn't imagine IT will get close to that, but 300 million is now on the cards for certain.

This movie will turn an astoundingly huge profit. I mean, the most famous actor in this is the kid from Stranger Things. The budget can't be that high.

Ahh probably bit then, I know it's too early to talk about box office of course but just wondered with all the buzz

Maybe after this is a huge hit the Stranger Things PR team will stop pretending that Eleven is the only one that matters. :funny:

I remember Cary saying before he exited the project that that the budget was to be around $32 million.

Considering the powers IT has & what he's capable of, a $32 million is pretty reasonable, imo. Definitely makes more since for IT to have a budget of that nature than F13th or Halloween.

Yep a 32mil budget for "It" and say something like A Nightmare on Elm Street makes sense because of the visual effects component. Just give us a good movie and it'll be successful. WB has everyone's attention so just give us a good film.

That's all I'm hoping for: something good that can entertain me like the mini-series or even better. I think this one will deliver, though. It seems like those involved genuinely wanted to make something good.
