The trailer is fantastic, I'm officially ultra-hyped about this movie now. :woot: I've always dreamed of getting an adaption that does the book justice and I'm tentatively thinking that we may actually get one here.

I can't believe the hype the trailer is getting so far, the fact that it's currently beating the Justice League trailer by equivalent number of views is insane. There was a lot of positive discussion about it at my work today too.

Random thought: Is that derelict house supposed to be the house on Neibolt Street? Wow, that's much bigger than I always pictured it in my head.

I am officially boarding the hype train. If nothing else, the trailer is great.

Yep, that's 29 Neibolt Street. The house is bigger than I pictured, as well, however, I think the idea is to make the house look much big than the kids, scary and intimating.

It's actually much closer visually to Dutch Hill Mansion in The Dark Tower. This of course is entirely deliberate, I'm sure. It should have wallpaper with elves wearing green caps and roses in it somewhere. If it does, I will probably let out a cry of delight right there in the cinema.

Gosh could "It" totally just destroy the September opening weekend record with like 70mil?

It's looking that way. Given the interest in this & how it's building so rapidly plus with the film having no real competition, I can see it hitting that number.

This is looking like a homerun financially for WB.

Jesus Christ. The IT trailer has smashed the global traffic record. Most watched movie trailer in first 24 hours of all time!

My God. That's just incredible! The people at Warner Brothers, New Line Cinema, Andres Muschietti and everyone involved with IT must be THRILLED!

Forget I said a $40 million opening weekend... If this big buzz keeps to stay this high, I'm thinking $60+ million for this movie.

Looking like it now. The thirst is apparently very real...

Those view figures are ridiculous, dwarfing everything that's come before it.

You can bet your ass that if this performs, we'll be seeing a full blown Stephen King cinematic universe, with The Dark Tower movies at its centre, if that movie does well too.

I'm legitimately more excited about IT now than most other films this year, partly for its own potential success, and partly for the wider picture. King's been constructing a shared universe long before the concept became popular.

I've been trying to find Fukunaga's script for this. Really curious about it.

One explanation for the interest surrounding It might be the fact that over time, Pennywise has become an iconic figure. He's often mentioned as being a reason for people's fear of clowns. in fact, a documentary is currently being made about Tim Curry's Pennywise, and how it effected children when it first aired. I think It definitely contributed to the "scary clown" trope, something that didn't really exist prior to It.

Another explanation might be that while Pennywise is now seen as an iconic monster, to be put up there with Freddy, and Jason, but unlike those two, It only ever appeared in the one television mini series, and that came out almost 30 years ago. Think about that for a second. A television mini series, yet It is arguably the scary clown. And It can be molded into any monster. There is a ton of potential with this character, yet because of the nature of the story, It doesn't lend itself to being a franchise, and thus, isn't exhausted.

Its about time we had a big opening in September. Maybe studios won't be so scared of the month. I'm surprised this is not opening in October.

Pennywise is totally an iconic horror monster. And yes it's remarkable that a monster from a tv mini series of all things is so darn popular.

Yup, pretty much everyone knows Pennywise because a lot of people who use the internet were young when the mini-series came out.

He's also from one of the best selling horror novels ever, don't forget :woot:

Yep, the mini series wouldn't exist without the novel. Stephen King knows how to tap into people's deepest fears.

Well Pennywise sure is. Even people who are not crazy about the 1990 IT mini series praise Tim Curry's Pennywise. He's an icon in the horror genre.

I saw the original when I was a kid, and it's the reason why I'm still "scared" of clowns. It's the same thing with Childs Play.
This trailer was legit scary and I seriously wanna see the new movie, but I also don't want to :oldrazz:

September has had a fair number of successes with Hotel Transylvania 1 and 2, Sully last year and even more moderate hits like The Equalizer and both Maze Runner films. But big opening are rare as it's considered a dead month at the box office.

I suspect if Annabelle Creation wasn't schedule for August, It would have been scheduled there.
