The trailer was pretty good. Hope they do it justice.

I really hope they have even quick cuts of the other historical atrocities with Pennywise being a catalyst.

The lumberjacks, the Blackspot, the outlaws showdown, the Easter egg hunt, all that ****! I was riveted by the ointerludes

There's a good chance. There was a scene for all of these but the outlaw one in the earlier draft of the script.

What's really cool about this take on the material is that they can now spend two movies slowly revealing what It is, where he comes from, and the larger picture.

Hopefully they do that element of the book justice. That's some trippy, fantastic stuff.

If the hype stays strong for this film and if the majority of critics like it (I'm talking around 65% or higher on RT) , I think it could make around $30 to $40 million in North America on opening weekend.

$35-40m is the floor, I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks the September record from Hotel Transylvania 2 which did $48m OW

Also, I don't see a lot of people mentioning the giant but subtle turtle reference in the trailer, "the turtle couldn't help us", but he definitely tried. There's a actually a number of hints sprinkled throughout the film.

I'm thinking September record. People love this story and as much as there are people who diss the original miniseries because it's dated, many more people love it. I wouldn't have a fondness for the "It" story without that miniseries. Fans of the miniseries and the book will want to see a big budget modern theatrical version. I'm not saying it's going to make 500 million dollars but this is a really well-liked story so don't underestimate it lightly.

The only things that I think could harm the movie is if it isn't marketed well and gets bad reviews.

I watched the teaser, so yeah... I think this may actually be good. :D

Holy **** its already 11 million views, this is gonna be huge.

Justice League only has 20 mil after 5 days on the same WB YouTube channel. IT's views will probably overtake it within the next day. :shock

Just caught a report about this movie (and Chucky) on TV. I didn't expect it to blow up like that.

$40M plus on opening weekend would be wicked. No doubt.

I tell you theres many reasons there is so much interest in this. Firstly there's the King fans also when I was a kid everyone saw the mini series. It freaked out everybody (my cousin has a fear of clowns thanks to this movie as I'm sure a lot of people do). Those kids are now adults and they're ready for a new take on a classic. Add to that how popular Stranger Things was and how similar that is to this and you've got even more people into it.

The turtle is referenced in earlier drafts. He's a lego, he's on the can of wax Georgie uses, etc. They'll probably build that up over both films. Although what I love about the novel is how helpful the turtle proves to be.

And the people who have only seen the original movie are going "turtle"?

..and you've got old f**ckers like me who were teens in the 90's who watched having read the book who will simply turn up regardless :woot:

im going a bit bigger with 50M. That trailer's response is amazing, its gonna make a killing i bet. (no pun intended)

Please tell me the Ritual of Chud is in it...

Yeah, this film is going to clean house in September due to weak competition. Might finally get around to reading the book.

I'd love for this to break the September record. I'm awful at predicting box office numbers, especially when a film is rated R so I won't even try.

I'm happy to see this film won't have much competition. If this goes big enough, it could be the shot in the arm the horror genre needs to really get pumping again.

Filmmakers talked about wanting to include it. I'd bet that's something we'd most likely see in Part II, though, as a "story development" VS the paralell experience that it was in the book.

Part I could be finding out what It is, at least in the basic sense.

Part II could then be the adults finding out the scope of It's mythology.

The trailer has almost 12 million views on WB's YouTube page, and it's only been out for a day!

Do you mean the tarp in the rain with georgie? I have watched the trailer a ton and don't recall that line being in it, or sprinkled somewhere.
