Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer - Part 2

I saw some of the Georgie and Pennywise footage some guy shot on his cell phone. Pennywise is really, really going to be creepy. The way he engages with Georgie, there's a really unsettling desperation coming from Pennywise. Like watching a predator trying to lure some kid into his van.

Anywhere we can get a glimpse of this footage?

Guess I have some searching to do.

I'm not sure if i can post it, but look up "It teaser", in the last hour, on youtube. It's mostly a guy talking about the scene, but he does cut to the scene itself. There's maybe ten seconds of actual footage.

Found it. There is only a couple of brief snippets of footage in it, but man it is great.

Yea I saw one with a guy reviewing it...the little bit I saw looks good!! Georgie and Pennywise interaction is pretty adorable which makes the scene even sadder.

It definitely sold me on Pennywise. He seems excited in a very creepy way when George starts giggling along with him, and going "Pop". Curry was fairly sinister in his encounter, but here Pennywise looks and sounds a little unhinged. Like, have you ever encountered someone on the bus who is a bit off? They might tell a joke, and you laugh politely, but they continue to laugh well beyond whats socially appropriate, and you start feeling uncomfortable. That's what I felt when watching that clip.

Pennywise: "POPCORN! Is that your favorite?"
Georgie: "Uh huh"
Pennywise: "Mine too. Hahaha. Because they pop. Mmmm hmmm. Pop pop pop pop pop pop. Hahaha. POP!"

His laugh is basically an evil Mickey Mouse and it's horrifying.

I'm going to see Annabelle tomorrow and I can't wait to see the IT footage.

The full scene was put up online, but I think it's been taken down. Watching it, I'm thinking this might be the superior version of the sewer encounter. There is a sense of momentum that I think was missing with the Curry version. I'll put this in spoilers for anyone not wanting to be spoiled

SPOILERS

As was noted in the description leaked earlier, there's a moment where Pennywise abruptly stops laughing, and just stares blankly at Georgie. It's almost as if Pennywise momentarily reverts back into being an animal, as when he first appears, you can hear an almost animal like growl. But we also see It's sense of manipulation. Georgie tells Pennywise Bill would kill him if he lost the boat. Pennywise later repeats this back to Georgie when Georgie is getting ready to leave. Not "I'll kill you", but "Bill will kill you". Which is why Georgie agrees to reach for the balloon.

Damnit I want to see this.

Loved how a lot of the dialogue was taken directly from the novel, especially this!

"Storm just bleeeew me away! It blew the whole circus away! Can you smell the circus, Georgie?

A. No, don't post any bootleg versions.

B. I saw it tonight before Annabelle. Damn, it looks good. :wow:

Oh damn. Daaaaaamn.

That creepy little smile after "Bill's gonna kill you."

From everything I've seen of this movie, I think it's gonna be not only GREAT, but a massive hit. Bear in mind, this is being directed by a guy who protege'd under Guillermo del Toro (one of my favorites), and given the tone and attention to characters and atmosphere, it damn well shows.

Everyone has their opinions, but i would say IT is substantially better than Del Toro's last two films, and I'm a huge Del Toro fan.

Really having a hard time finding Skarsgard in there. Very transformative.

When the clip ended, the guy sitting next to me said out loud, "That is going to be GOOD!!!"

I can't wait to see the full scene! It's going to be terrifying!!

Few months old, but I love it.

Bear in mind, Del Toro's great but he's a guy who's CONSTANTLY hampered by the Hollywood studios. While Pacific Rim was great, Crimson Peak got marketed as a horror movie when it really wasn't. He had to come out ahead of time and say so! And every time he tries to do get a serious horror movie that could be really good like the At The Mountains of Madness adaptation, the studios keep getting cold feet at the last minute for some dumb reason or another and cancel it(in that movie's case, it was b/c the Wolfman remake flopped)! The only letdown of his that I was disappointed by was the Don't Be Afraid of the Dark remake, and he didn't even DIRECT that one (Though to his credit, he told me personally over at the now-defunct DelToroFilms boards that the movie was mis-marketed b/c the MPAA gave it an 'R' rating when it was more of a PG-13-level movie in the vein of something like Poltergeist or Gremlins.)
