The info on the Galactic Core provided by Varient contradicts what was stated to be the situation in the comic. Ororo stated that she could sense living planets which according to this info is not possible. Whether Ororo is tapping into the energy of the stars at the core or tapping the energy of the many planets that she supposedly sensed isn't specifically stated. The story simply doesn't tell you what she was using. But at 100+ stars per cubic parsec there would have been no planets and the environment in space would be so filled with heat, radiation and solar plasma that she would have been incinerated pretty much instantly. According to this astronomical info the situation as it supposedly existed in the story could not exist. Which doesn't mean much in a comic it's true. Picture the situation: a box 3.26 light years on a side into which you are going to cram 100 stars. That's an awfully tight fit. The whole situation seems to have been done without knowledge on the writers part. But my interpretation was that she was tapping into the energy of the myriad planets she sensed which would be much closer to the powers that she usually displays.
Isn't that the case with most writers?

Which I need to add this though:
Why is it that when she's manifesting her powers on Earth its a given that her mutant powers protect her from her enviroment and the stuff she manipulates,.... (canon look it up,.. that storm in canada she cruised up to where anyone else would quickly die for working room and stayed up FOR HOURS), .. BUT YOU GUYS FEEL THAT EVEN THOUGH SHE CAN TAP INTO ALL THAT STELLAR ENERGY,.. IT SHOULD KILL HER IMMEDIATELY?
Okay, so outside of certain astronomically remote situations (<-pun) we agree Thor is more powerful; and based on the poll, Thor is more popular by a 4 to 1 margin. Can we close this thread?![]()
That's not true. Most of the voters didn't read the original post and gave their votes based on who they think would win in a fight.

It's quite reasonable to assume that she was indeed immune to the energy that was under her direct control. What about the 99.9999% of the energy there that she wasn't controlling? Also as I pointed out earlier we don't know that she was controlling stellar energy at all. She could have been tapping planetary energy from the planets she sensed. If she wasn't controlling the stellar energy then she wasn't immune to any of it. A galactic core is an incredibly energy intense place. The stars are mostly class B with a few class O and close together. B and O stars are far larger and hotter than our sun. We are more than 75,000 light years from the core and it is bright to the naked eye from here. What do you think it is like up close? And that is just the visible light. There is also heat, ultraviolet microwaves, gamma and x-rays all of which are lethal.
?
I can post scads of stuff where she was immune to the enviroment she operated in. It's like she makes the area immediately around her habitable for her i've seen her do it on the edge of space on Earth WITH NO STRAIN, AND I've seen her expand this effect to allow two xmen to breath underwater WITH HER.
Yet folk keep saying "she can be hurt by lightning not under her control,.. she can be hurt by weather not under her control, she can be hurt by her enviroment,...................... when we have twenty years of her not being hurt.
Where is this assumption coming from?
She's not invulnerable under normal Earth conditions,.. BUT SHE IS IMMUNE TO TERRESTRIAL EFFECTS.
She can cruise into a hurricane or Storm not of her making and not worry about debries,.. because Part of her power set modifies her immediate enviroment to allow her to survive.
Some writer other than her creator came up with some silly temperature control thing to explain part of this,.. but it was such poor science that no one else has tried to added it to her mythos.
If she can go to the edge of space unprotected, (canon) And by the way Everyone in the MU who are NOT elementals w/o invulnerability NEEDS protection on the edge of space,
And it's because HER POWERS take care of the Increased radiation, the extremes in temperature from light to dark, the lack of Air Pressure,.. all in a feedback loop that adjusts with her conditions,
Why do folk keep acting like she needs to wear a sweater on cold days and a thong on hot days?

At the heart of the Milky Way is a dense ball, of old stars known as the central buldge. The stars surround the galactic nucleus, which may contain a supermassive black hole.

Composition
Globular clusters are generally composed of hundreds of thousands of low-metal, old stars. The type of stars found in a globular cluster are similar to those in the bulge of a spiral galaxy but confined to a volume of only a few cubic parsecs. They are free of gas and dust and it is presumed that all of the gas and dust was long ago turned into stars.
While globular clusters can contain a high density of stars (on average about 0.4 stars per cubic parsec, but it can increase to 100 or 1000 stars per cubic parsec in the core of the cluster),[11] they are not thought to be favorable locations for the survival of planetary systems. Planetary orbits are dynamically unstable within the cores of dense clusters due to the perturbations of passing stars. A planet orbiting at 1 astronomical unit around a star that is within the core of a dense cluster such as 47 Tucanae would only survive on the order of 108 years.[12] However, there has been at least one planetary system found orbiting a pulsar (PSR B1620−26) that belongs to the globular cluster M4.[13]
Parsec = This is a unit of distance used only in astronomy. The term is derived from parallax and arcsec. The distance of an object is inversely proportional to the arcsec for the eye perceiving the object. The further away it is the smaller the arcsec becomes. Arcsec therefore can be used to express the distance of a celestial body. A star with a parallax arcsec of 1 is 1 parsec away. 1 parsec translates into 3.258 light years, or 3.084x1013km.

Edge: Storm
Thor is more powerful, but, who cares? That's like saying Beyonder is your favorite character...
Taping into power doesn't negate gravity. She still feels gravity so no matter how much power she's tapping into, her body would still be affected by gravitational pull. If you go near a star either the heat kills you (I'll give you that storm may not be affected by this) or the gravitational pull renders your atoms apart. The energy she's harvesting has nothing to do with the effect of supercondensed matter and how it folds all other matter along with time itself (it's that strong a force).
Power = Thor
Popularity = Storm
Whoa...Let's totally disregard the Shi'ar space craft.
Also, if I go with you line of thought, you just gave her gravity controlling abilities.
Impressive, so again anything coming near the center of this would be destroyed instantly. Thanks for doing the science to prove my point.
To answer your why would it kill her question:

You are scary.
I'm not going to waste my time,... You are currently dancing hard to win an arguement against HARD SCIENCE.
First you argue that the stars couldn't be so close.
Now it's gravity?
NO ONE SAID SHE WAS WITHIN ROCHES LIMIT OF ANY STAR - SO WHAT YOU JUST SAID ON GRAVITY WAS IN ERROR.
TRY AGAIN.
His grasp of form and function is faulty.
A shiar Starcraft that is designed TO CROSS GALACTIC DISTANCES could probably go thru a star when underpower - so believing that it wouldn't be impervious is like saying that a phantom jet that can do Mach 3 under all conditions couldn't be left out in a monsoon.
.tsk.
