I would love that! 
I pretty much took that to mean no more major characters like Max, Robin or Eddie will be introduced. There'll probably be at least one new minor character played by a veteran actor from '80s movies like in the previous seasons (Cary Elwes, Robert Englund, etc.). Linda Hamilton would fit that tradition.Didn't the Duffer brothers say that they weren't going to be introducing new characters in season 5?

That's how I interpreted it too. No time for a new core character at this stage and the main priority will be to start resolving the plots for everyone.
