Suicide Squad box office prediction - Part 2

It was not actually, it was aimed at the post below yours by Logan someone. Apologies if I have caused any offence as I honestly hadn't even read your comment when I put that.

Bro/Sis, NO offence at all. I simply wanted to clarify. I don't mind comparisons, but comparisons have NOTHING to do with "which movie is better" or any of the silliness along those lines. GotG ended up being a bit of a phenomenon as it had a different feel to it than previous Marvel flicks (and a killer soundtrack). I thought SS was entertaining, but you would almost never expect GotG type of legs for a movie that opened that high. That would be Star Wars/Avatar territory.

Haha it's bro :cwink:

People need to stop comparing one DC film to another Matvel film. It's quite frankly ridiculous, films are measured as a succes on their own not against something else. Quite frankly I'm fed up of this whole DC vs Marvel ****.

This will fall on deaf ears sadly. Its a dick swinging contest for too many people. They don't see Marvel and DC movies as all the same genre movies that they are, they see it as a division of two sides battling to 'win'.

If that was brought up already, I apologize for missing it - but it would make sense to me given the amount of re-shoots and having multiple editors putting out different versions of the film.

Combined with marketing - this film just got hella pricey. EDIT: I can't listen to the interview at work. Does Ike say the $250million is production/marketing combined?
That article was written a year ago, so reshoots can't factor in. Ike didn't say anything about which budget he meant, as far as I can discern.

Anyway $250m for marketing and production combined is way too low. I'm thinking Hughes is about right on the money here, possibly underestimating it by a little bit. In other words just as a lot of big movies lately this movie will end up earning peanuts at the box office but coming out with a huge profit once TV and sales are done.

Yup, and that's the silly thing about all of it. I haven't posted here a lot and from what I have you'd think I was a DC fanboy but the truth is I prefer Marvel and I think Superman is one of the worst superheroes ever created (although I think early Smallville was rather good.) I like Batman but I always find it silly when they mix him up with the rest of the God-Mode DC universe.

How dare you besmirch Superman! He's the only superhero that has brought tears of joy to my eyes.

On a serious note, I agree. This "war" is so embarrassingly nerdy and pathetic. People need to grow up.

I'm not a particular fan of the suicide squad movie but congrats on its growing financial success at the BO and here's hoping WB/DC use this as an opportunity to ensure their movies going forward are to a much higher standard that the masses can appreciate, enjoy and not constantly feel nervous about.

For all the vitriol it's getting, the DCEU is consistently having more viewers and visitors than MCU subs. I know a lot of you guys absolutely hate the DCEU and simply adore the MCU, so why aren't you guys discussing your favorite movies instead of hating on the ones you don't like. The logic in this forum....

Is that what's going on here?
It would explain all the vitriol and why now that SS won't be #1 that this particular thread is now busy again.

Hughes utterly destroyed him. I don't expect him ever to try picking a fight with him again, unless he's suicidal.

What the heck are you guys talking about? Grown men fighting on Twitter? I swear publicist must hate Twitter.

its a reasonable to compare it to GOTG both unknown obscure comic book properties and both released in august

especially since SS had a 40 million higher OW

"Besmirch" LOLOL.

I haven't voted yet, but I think I'm going to click on 600. LOL.

TBH, going in, I thought it would do "around" 700M and felt that would be a very good showing. My congrats. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but, other than knowing people are different, don't really understand why (I've already read the criticisms, so spare me :woot: ). I found it entertaining and fun. Maybe I was influenced by the soundtrack, but everything doesn't have to be Sophie's Choice or The Godfather or even Tootsie (to pick a lighthearted, funny movie).

EDIT: Or a Silence of the Lambs (picking yet another lighthearted, funny movie).

Lol, I haven't seen SS but the soundtrack of BvS is one of the reasons I like it so much. The SS soundtrack is awesome and the trailer alone made me buy some of the songs.

Lol not sure if serious

LOL ike played a small bit role in suicide squad i highly doubt margot robbie even knows the budget let alone some random actor

Wow,thats a great result,I expected around 10mil,to see it ~12M is a great result.

If we can trust these estimates:

$282,400,000 after Sunday from $270,772,627 after Thursday = ~ +4.294%

Comparisons:

Batman v Superman: $302,301,730 to $311,330,086 = ~ +2.987%
Captain America Civil War: $357,475,948 to $372,871,672 = ~ +4.307%
Man Of Steel: $256,758,983 to $271,188,450 = ~ +5.620%

My thought about "identical legs to Civil War" appears pretty accurate.

I'm thinking SS would gross 11.2-11.3 million in it's 4th weekend and that's still more than what I initially thought it would make. :woot:

With this number and Labor Day forthcoming I see a final result closer to 315 than 300.

$700m is doable.

I wonder how much money will go to Smith, Leto, Cara, Robbie and all the others. I was shocked when I found out about Man of steel. $58 million in participations. For who? A almost retired Kevin Costner? So how much will Will Smith take?

As a funny side note the new box office champion Don't Breathe made $10m on its opening day. That's already more than its budget!!!

Just saw the Friday figures for Don't Breathe and :wow:

I can easily see it making 22 million in it's OW. I just hope it doesn't prove to be a roadblock for SS in the coming weeks.
