Suicide Squad box office prediction - Part 2

Let this sink in: Suicide Squad opens smack in the middle of the hysterically insane box office run of "Your Name." in Japan and still outscores Batman v Superman's opening weekend.

700 mil. :yay: Now we wait for the sequel announcement.

Just reminiscing a little... :funny:

Hey, I was just being cautious and assuming similar int'l BO returns like GOTG. I'm one of the biggest fans of DC around here. I mean ya'll you know me, right? :yay:

I'll happily concede, I was wrong on so many levels to underestimate my #Skwad.

SS totally exceeded all kinds of expectations and as a DC comics fan, I'm on cloud 9. Really happy for Ayer and his team for such a huge success. Everything is awesome. :woot::woot::woot:

So... what about the "Superhero movie fatigue" that was bound to happen ?

:oldrazz:

Anyway based on pure wishful thinking and some makeshift math I have my prediction for the Japan box office.

$17,946,419
... and I seem to have been pessimistic as:

Suicide Squad comes in a little lower than pre-sales indicated, and was a bit frontloaded over the weekend frame as well. However, based on estimates, its debut is slightly higher than Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice's, and it may be greater than The Dark Knight Rise's ¥372 million to earn itself the title of biggest DC opening in the market. It'll be targeting a total around 2 billion ($20 million). Very impressive.

Well this thread burst into flames rather quickly. Maybe in a few days y'all will want to go back to discussing the box office rather than mocking and attacking each other.

Re-opened. Please keep the discussion to the box office and not other posters.

So any chance of this beating BvS domestically? It's about 15m away.

I don't think it will beat BvS's domestic haul. SS will face tough competition this weekend from The Magnificent Seven and Storks. It's still performing admirably with sub 20% drops in the last weekend as well as in the last 3 weekdays. I think 323-324 million is pretty much a safe bet. :yay:

I agree there. It's too late in the game and there are two heavy hitters on the way, both of which have potential to perform even higher than current predictions.

But even without eclipsing BvS domestically, SS is unequivocally a win.

And this movie is just a side project of the main story line.
Easy money.

How much longer will it stay in theaters ? 750M seems possible.

Yay it back, anyone know what it's at now

Domestic:
*$315,023,343

+*Foreign:
*$406,000,000

=*Worldwide:
*$721,023,343

Probably got $10M left in it. I think Blu ray sales will be very good as well.

Suicide Squad (WB), 2,172 theaters (-568) / $800K Fri. (-33%) / 3-day cume: $3.1M (-35%) / Total cume: $318.1M / Wk 8

GOTG has 25M more to go before this weekend in 2014, so I am guessing around another 12-13M for SS, and BvS was pulled after 18 weekends, 2 shorter than GOTG, which earned an extra .5M, but I think SS has better legs WB might just give it 20 weekends. 328M final for me.

Any updates on the international numbers?

I know we won't get 330m but we can hope.
