Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

Like I wanted Hardy to do a better role than Flag, I'd want Gyllenhaal to do something other than Flag.

Yeah, but it is possible that the film could make Flag a more interesting character than he was in the comics.

El Mayimbe is reporting that the entire cast has abandoned the film and the director has been replaced by Oliver Megatron!

But seriously, I hope that Oliver Megatron can transform this into a better movie.

:rimshot:

Hmmm, not a bad suggestion. I wanted him for Lex Luthor, but he could work in this too.

Or hey! What about that other guy who was on Edgerton's team in Zero Dark Thirty! He would be perfect!

If you think about that Seal Team casting in ZDT, it was pretty damn good!

Joel Edgerton
Chris Pratt
Callan Mulvey
Frank Grillo

Considering Suicide Squad is into pre production and principal photography is starting in a couple of months we'll get the confirmation of Hardy's replacement pretty soon.

See i would have thought Flagg would have been an older, more grizzled type anyway. Hardy and Jake G are awesome... but i don't see them in the role tbh.

Someone like Michael Biehn or Kurt Russell however...?

wish they could get Bradley Cooper for Flagg. He was great in American Sniper. Or if they wanted to go older maybe Stephen Lange or Brad Pitt.

How about we just wait and see what happens with Jake before we start looking for a replacement for the replacement. :o

But that would be logical. And if there's one thing CBM fans aren't, it's logical.

Well here's hoping, Gyllenhaal is my favorite actor, I'm still punching things about him not getting nominated today.

Hardy was the kind of actor that could have made Flagg interesting while still being clean cut. He could do nuanced intensity in a way others can't.

Haha! Imagine Pratt's character distracting Bin Laden with some dance moves while someone took him out. :o

:pal:

Totally agree. He's one of those rare talents that can create a fascinating character even with minimal dialogue.

If Gyllenhaal passes due to his own hectic schedule, instead of going to someone like Taylor Kitsch or similar, I feel WB/DC should look for a slightly older character actor. Maybe a Sean Bean or a Viggo Mortensen type.

They could do that, but if Deathstroke is in this movie (as some sites have reported) I think it's more important to find an older actor for that role.

Just had a look up on his IMDB page he's got nothing coming up.

I don't think Viggo Mortensen is that into superhero blockbuster type films. Mortensen's filmography over the last decade hasn't been mainstream crowd pleaser type films. Mortensen only did Lord Of The rings because of his son.

Also, how about Hardy's doppelganger, Travis Fimmel? He might be a household name soon if Warcraft does well.

Or his other doppelganger Logan Marshall Green?

Marvel already got his other doppelganger though (Corey Stoll).

I didn't necessarily mean just from a movie filming perspective. Gyllenhaal is on Broadway till mid-March, and then he will start the press tours for Everest and Southpaw from August. Suicide Squad films from mid-April to August, he may consider the 2-3 week prep time and break as not enough.

Tom Hardy is apparently committed to a worldwide press tour for Mad Max in May which is one of the big reasons for him leaving in combination with the Inarritu movie running over schedule.

Travis Fimmel would be awesome

Yeah, I think he would be pretty badass in the role.

Or there's always Charlie (yawn) Hunnam.

Thankfully Charlie Hunnam won't happen for sure. He will be filming King Arthur with Guy Ritchie in England at the same time as SS will be filming.

Charlie 'Accent All Over The Place' Hunnam.

What about Chris Pine?

What's he got going on this year outside of Star Trek 3?
