Or, as I like to call it.... 'Echo Chambering'.

you're assuming confirmation bias, but you should love and trust critics for their open-mindedness, not because you agree with them all the time

my favorite critics are the perceptive ones who understand the core of a film and its nuances, not the ones I always agree with

Let's No fight amongst ourselves guys! We're DC Fans we don't strive for doing that. Let's celebrate this moment and be happy our third DCEU film is upon us and regardless of what critics think --these directors have made these movies and dedicated their talent and time FOR US! I know all this hate sucks I'm still heartbroken but let's not let it beat us Down! DC Fanboys Never Say Die

So if food critics told you a specific burger joint that looked good onInstagram was not good but you went anyway and got a bad burger with bad service, you would order a second burger just to damn the man?

I don't treat the 2 same. Why would I. Ones a movie the others food.
One provides entertainment the provides sustenance. My opinions vary on different things. Movies, food, games, fashion etc. It would be redundant for me to do that.

Shouldn't care too much about the reviews, but I'm starting to get that empty feeling I had after seeing BvS. Only now it's before seeing SS.

Current Metacritic score is 47.

And then take there word? Where is the part where you make up your own mind there exactly?
The most important is our on own opinion.

But cinema isn't free.

Anyways, I will see this movie because I'm waiting for it for a long time and it has character that I liked.

But for a movie that I don't looking forward to and get really bad review, I will probably won't go to the cinema.

Courtney and Robbie were absolutely, unequivocally the best thing in this movie for me. They seemed to be actually having fun with the ridiculousness of it. Affleck's time was short and sweet. Smith, bleh. He had one solid, memorable scene but the rest of the time he irked me. I don't understand the praise for Davis. It was the least demanding main role in the story. She either explained things or looked angry. Leto was atrocious. No idea why he or Ayer thought that was a good idea. Felt like a C-level blaxploitation movie character. Everyone else was forgettable.

WHOA what? How so?

Joker was a blaxploitation character?

I don't get it. Why can't people see that the current talent at WB is not very good and that they do not know what they are doing??? The only movie that looks like it could be decent is WW because it is anchored by a period piece and single main character!

BvS was a muddled mess with no awe, fun or excitement. And now Suicide Squad is being described as a mess as well. Tsujihara is a hack. He greenlit all these films believing that the audience does not care for the Marvel formula any more. Well, obviously he was wrong!

What an embarrassment!

It is funny, I haven't enjoyed Courtney's work, but I thought he looked fun the trailer. Seem it might actually be that way in the film. That is good. Leto, yeah that sounds about right.

Leto was the only reason I was mildly interested in the film. There goes that. LOL

what did you think of the film Poni_Boy?

More enjoyable to watch than MOS and BvS but there's also much more going on. But it 100% feels like a studio movie. It's like Ayer had a big box of LEGO pieces but five people with five different ideas were telling him exactly how to build the castle

He does it all the time. :funny:

Remember when that communion clip came out and he was like "Oh wow I didn't think they would reveal Darkseid this soon. That's definitely Darkseid. I saw concept art and it said Darkseid"

:funny:

wait, what? :funny:

Exactly. Now, question, the critics who ARE praising it. Are they glowing recommendations or are they just "meh, it was entertaining. I recommend it."

As are mine, but I fear we may be in the minority. A great many people will trust and look to critics who generally align with their own tastes. It's human nature. That's why arguably the large dip sample you get from across the whole RT critic board is a more accurate representation of a movie, not less.

oh OK. So he is sticking up for the film? Very nice of him!

Don't know about him sticking up for the film. Maybe for Ayer (?). He was explicitly stating that some people were reading the RT score wrongly.

For example while BvS TC may have got ~27%, it is probably reflective of many more critics who rated it rotten than those who rated it fresh --it's a flaw IMO because you'll not have a general idea of the movie's quality.

Lemonade, is there a reason why you align all your posts in the center? Just curious.

The way he talked and walked and interacted with certain characters reminded me of few southern pimp daddy roles from 70s movies I watched with my brother

Oh, I see.

Well, if Leto's Joker is based on Dolemite, I'm gonna LOVE him. :sly:

Oh ok. So much for "filmmaker driven" then. But wasn't suicide squad originally his pitch?

Lol!! I love this. I for one am expecting to enjoy the film. Loved BvS; I'm confident I'll enjoy SS.

I really believed that the critics were going to love Suicide Squad. Oh well, I predict a lower score for SS than for BVS. I wonder if we'll eventually get a DCEU film in the single digits??? Justice League perhaps?

No I agree with taking reviews into account. What I am not a fan of is cheery picking said reviews.

why not, when some cherries are better than others?

film critics are not equally good at their jobs, some are actually perceptive and insightful, and others are just opinionated buffoons
