That's not what I was told. But if it's true, then fair enough. But still, cut that other part out, it's not needed.

The other part I'm guessing is Enchantress' brother the Incubus?

Ayer is a great writer and director. He's given us films like Training Day and End of Watch. Great character pieces.

He might not be George Miller, but he has a unique style and is a strong writer of morally grey and complete villains characters.
Oh, I agree having seen EoW, Fury and SWAT.
It's just Fury Road (Mad Max in general) is a very different movie from what I'd expect from Ayer & especially with him doing Suicide Squad.

This reeks of WB neutering him.
He was inevitably going to be neutered the moment he agreed on doing this as his PG-13 directorial debut.
I'm currently more concerned with how he's approached levity in this film.

I don't post at all on this board, I refresh every day to see if there's any new links to teasers, trailers, news regarding the film, interviews etc.
However after seeing all these depressing comments because of some reviews I feel I have to say something.
I don't read reviews and never will. I don't care for RT scores. I'll pay to watch a movie at the cinema if it interests me. I never allow another human being to manipulate my opinion or decisions.
I have 100% confidence the rest of the movies announced in the DCEU will be made.
Mainly because Hollywood has run out of ideas and original stories, why do you think there are so many reboots? People will moan about them but still watch them.
Remember how the majority of people disliked the first wolverine movie? What happened? 4 years later they made a sequel.
Amazing spiderman 2 was not well received. Sony still decided to make a reboot, granted with most of the work being done by marvel/Disney but Sony will reap the rewards. They're will always be DC movies and I can't wait to watch the rest of them. F##K a critic. I'll be watching suicide squad twice. In closing money talks and bulls##t walks.

Poor Patty Jenkins. Now the pressure to deliver has been doubled.

Damn, Patty is hawt. She looks like Beyonce. :o

I'm honestly not so sure about that. I don't know how much studio meddling was involved in BvS, but I seriously shudder to think how Zack "I woulda raped Batman in prison" Snyder would have fared if he was given 100% creative control.
That they hired Snyder in the first place is a rather big problem imo.

Going to get drunk now. Best of luck with arguing.

Snyder never said he would have Batman be raped in prison. That statement was blown out of proportion.

That they hired Snyder in the first place is a rather big problem imo.

establishing a cinematic universe with one of your last choices for director doesn't necessarily inspire confidence, and that is how we find ourselves here today.

I've given snyder enough crap over the last few months, but he can breathe easy today

he is not the main problem in the DCEU as I once thought. I'm not entirely sure what it is at the moment, but its something much larger than him.

It's the whole company. From Green Lantern onward these are studio movies assembled by guns for hire with no understanding of A) their current audience b) the audience they want, and c) the characters they're using

You should hear how some of these WB people talk. Clueless.

Yet they've continued to do it for the last few years. The money they've sunk into films like Jupiter Ascending, Pan, Point Break, Tarzan, and the upcoming King Arthur is astounding. At least with the DC projects they have a chance at making money at some point. These other ones are literally just throwing away 100 million dollars each time. Tsujihara is pretty much finished though ... Fantastic Beasts might be the final nail in his coffin if it underperforms.

This. WB aren't just a mess for DCEU. They are a mess overall.

:hehe: of course. WB are the enablers though. They love Snyder.

which is why DC desperately needs their own film division where people who work there literally live and breathe this material

until then, it will just be more of the same.

they could always just go back to making batman movies and the occasional superman reboot if they want though. Whatever man, this is all just so disheartening.
I mean who would they appoint to that division? They already have Geoff Johns who, love him or hate him, has delivered the most DC material in the last 10 years. Should they get Mark Waid, Paul Dini, and Bruce Timm? Is that even an option?

If I can say something. I haven't seen Suicide Squad yet. But I think the darkened color palette works for a movie like say Suicide Squad.

However, in terms of the DCU movies, all the color in them looks drained and washed out. Even Justice League. Like that Comic-Con sizzle reel...it just looks so dark and drained. The problem is that it makes the movie look bland and it makes you feel dour. I don't think a Justice League movie should look or feel like that.

Just saying, going from BTAS to Justice League, Justice League did not have the same color palette as BTAS or TNBA. They made it a more colorful, brighter show.

Pfft. Zack Snyder's style. We're stuck with it.

You should give them my number PB. I'll fix it. :cwink:

Thanks buddy I appreciate your reply! I have nothing against marvel (Much respect for them and their fans) I'm just a DC guy hardcore and don't care for marvel heroes or their stories. I don't however spread hate to them cause I fail to see the purpose. I do however debate with my marvel friends on why I believe my DC has great Stories and Characters that deserve a Universe and a Voice to be shared. I love DC so much I willing to lose bets on our simple reception to our films cause I want to Have faith in our movies to be universally acclaimed. Looks like I just lost another bet and have to be ridiculed by friends and wear my buddies T Shirt on Saturday when I see the movie that states "Marvel Is King...DC Sucks :csad:

Well Ill proudly take that beating and humiliation cause not for one second do I ever regret my love for DC!! I believe we have the best characters and Stories and Will have my Moment in the Sun #DCFanboy4Life

LOL, well I'm glad I've never made those kinds of bets with my friends because I'd lose too, haha. Yeah, I do hope that WB eventually rights the ship. I think that they CAN do it and there's still hope but... it's going to be quite an uphill battle after another critically panned film. :(

One thing The Vile One mentioned that I think is a good point is the color palettes of these films. A darker palette does seem to fit something like Suicide Squad but I agree that it doesn't fit a Batman/Superman movie (even one where they fight) and it also doesn't fit Justice League. It just makes everything look so drab and somewhat depressing. But... Wonder Woman doesn't really look like that (at least not in the Themyscira scenes) so maybe that's a sign of better days ahead? I hope so.

So I'll probably have to wait until 2019 to watch a good Superhero film starring a woman. That is truly depressing. I want Wonder Woman to be good but WB will find a way to crap it up.

It is like the best boyfriend in history (Nolan) left them, and now they are trying to rekindle that same magic with the likes of Snyder and Ayer, but are also micro managing the relationship.

they should absolutely look into getting those people into the fold. And sadly no, its probably not an option. WB has always been under the notion that comic book people don't have a place in the movie division, which I can understand to an extent, but when the talent you hire doesn't deliver, perhaps its time to start thinking outside of the box.

To be fair, Wonder Woman has a deep color palette that seems to be rich in primary colors.

Do you think keeping Alan Horn would have made a difference?

Would anyone agree that Kevin Tsujihara and Diane Nelson are also problems for the DCEU?

Or have Diane Nelson's wings already been clipped?

It's not that I think Diane Nelson is a bad person. It's just that I remember her coming on board with DC Entertainment projects I think back in 2009. And just based on what I read about her, it seemed like she wasn't the guy to help shepherd these DC projects simply because she helped out with the Harry Potter franchise. DC comics and superheroes were a whole different bag.

So if food critics told you a specific burger joint that looked good onInstagram was not good but you went anyway and got a bad burger with bad service, you would order a second burger just to damn the man?

I admit, the haters were right and I was wrong. WB doesn't know what the hell they are doing.

While not a movie, we will have another season of Jessica Jones before then. :woot:
